the MKK Day from taking place at
the Saint Vincent Ferrer Seminary
auditorium. The day was dedicated to the
celebration of our Faith, done on the eve
of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi because
we are the Church.
Fr. Ronald C. De Leon opened the
occasion with energy. He was very much
alive with the love of Christ. He said, If
ever you feel a little tired, keep on going,
just inject something that keeps you
alive.
And so, last Saturday, June 21, we
came together to celebrate MKK Day so
that we may grow alive again. Alive,
to go on! This is the priority of the
Parish: MKK Sakdagon kag
Padayunon! ! !
The happy celebration
was spent in sharing -
sharing of ones presence,
food, and prayer. Each
barangay had its own
preparation, of course,
number one was the
food.

Today, 5th Sunday of the month, is Seminary Sunday in our Parish. We pray in a special
way for the entire Seminary Community and we contribute financially for the formation
of our seminarians. Thank you for your spiritual and financial support.
the program was the sharing of experiences.
One person shared her own experience
of how she obtained help through some
people around, who for her were sent
by God to help her. And out of this, she
came to realize that: Ang Dios buhi nga
nagahigugma kag nagabulig sa akon. Her
second experience was that

bad her decision was, she repented and
asked pardon from the Lord for what she
did, she delivered a normal and beautiful
baby. She realizes, too, that every time
she encounters a problem, she always
gets graces from the Lord. She promised
Him that because of His love for her she
will continue to be active in the MKK.
She capped her testimony by declaring,
Praise the Lord of His goodness and
thank the Lord for giving me strength to
Another sharer said that joining the
MKK is Gods plan for her. She said, Sister
Maya went to our barangay for Bible
sharing and invited me to lead the
activity. But I doubted because
of so many reasons. After
some reflection, I accepted
the challenge. I noticed that
from that time on, whenever
we had a problem, God
was always there to help. I
felt that if I am away from
the Lord because of some
transgression, I would feel
that God was not with me.

A Seminarian Needs A Home
Fr. Nathaniel G. Gentizon

The Pastor Speaks...
ANG IKAN-UM NGA SUGO
A
s we celebrate Seminary Sunday here
in our parish wherein we remember
in our prayers our seminarians
and priest-formators and we contribute
financially for the formation of our future
priests, I remember what Toni Weber, a Swiss
priest who died at the age of 55 due to cancer,
has shared:
I visited one bishop. After lunch, he
opened up to me. He confided to me problems
concerning priests: alcoholism, solitude and
an absence of spiritual and material solidarity
among them, who were involved in a common
mission
I had an appointment with an Asian
bishop, whose diocese numbered several
thousand Catholics, with very few priests, in
a region where 97 percent of the population
are Muslims. He confided in me: It is difficult
to open up ones soul, to share our experiences,
even among bishops We are too old to
change our attitudes. We were educated to
be alone, to be supermen, not to need anyone.
Due to our seminary formation, we remain
isolated, distant and alienated from the people,
strangers among them. We need to renew the
seminaries
We believe that if we would like our
S
a kinaandan nga paghambal, ang
ikan-um nga sugo nagasiling: Indi ka
magpanginlalaki ukonmagpanginbabayi.
sang pag-asawahay. Ginadilian sa mga may
asawa ukon bana ang magpakighilawas sa
iban luwas lamang sa ila kaugalingon nga
bana kag asawa.
Para sa mga Israelinhon sadto, ini nga
sugo may iya nga pagpahangup nga naangot
sa sosyedad. Ang iya tuyo amo ang pag-apin
sa panimalay nga amo lamang ang salandigan
sang ila sosyedad. Ang panimalay kag ang pag-
asawahay ila ginhangop suno sa pagsaysay
sang pagtuga sa Libro sang Genesis. Gintuga
sang Dios ang tawo nga lalaki kag babayi agud
nga ang lalaki indi mag-isahanon, kag agud
sila nga duha magmuad kag magpuno sang
duta.
Sa paglakat sang panahon, ini nga
sugo naapektohan sang lainlain nga mga
kultura kag mga panghangup nga nangin
kabangdanan sang indi maathag nga pagtan-
awsini. May ara nga kultura nga nagakabig sa
asawa bilang pagkabutang nga ginapanag-
iyahan sang iya bana. Amo ini ang kultura nga
ginatawag patriarchal. Diri sa Pilipinas,
may ara gihapon nga nagaluntad nga amo sini
nga sahi sang mentalidad nga ginkuha naton
sa sina nga kultura: ang indi alalangay nga
pagtrato sa bana kag sa asawa.
priests and bishops to experience communion
among themselves so that they may become
effective and inspiring agents of unity in the
Diocese where they are serving, they need
to be formed in this spirituality of unity
starting from the seminary. The seminary
which is the heart of the Diocese can be a
place where transformation can begin.
How wonderful it would be if our
seminary can truly be a HOME for our
seminarians! This will happen when our
future priests recognize the immense love
of God, our Father. Under His Fatherhood,
the seminarians are all brothers. And they
therefore must love one another as a sign
of gratitude to the Father who has primarily
loved them.
Love is the key to unity! That our house
and seminary may become HOME, we need to
learn the art of loving. We are called to love
one another inevery present moment the way
God would love us. We are called to love even
if it is difficult. We must love our enemies, we
must make ourselves one with others and
we must show our love through our selfless
service. This Christ-inspired love must
become tangible in the various genuine acts
of friendship, light-hearted cammaraderie
and interaction and must transcend from
their bonding with fellow seminarians and
priests towards the laity in the parishes to
which they will ultimately be assigned. These
parishes and insitutions will become their
new HOME when they ultimately become
priests. One key to the success of the priest
in the parish is his oneness with the laity,
establishing Christ-inspired relationships
with them.
Let the words of Pope John Paul II, now
a saint, challenge us: To make the Church the
home and the school of communion: that is the
great challenge facing us in the millennium
which is now beginning, if we wish to be faithful
to Gods planand respond to the worlds deepest
May ara man nga mga pagsulondan nga
ginadumilian kag ginakabig sang mga tawo
nga dapat likawan, ilabi na gid sa mga butang
nga may kaangtanan sa pagpakigrelasyon sa
tunga sang lalaki kag babayi. May iban nga
nagakabig sini nga mahigko kag indi dapat
isambit sa pormal nga mga paghambalanay.
Ang baliskad sini amo ang halos lango-lango
kag pasapayan nga pagtratar sa sini nga bagay.
Tungod sini, kinahanglan ang isa ka
Kristiano kag balanse nga paghangup sa
sekswalidad sang tawo.
ANG KRISTIANO NGA PANAN-AWAN SA
SEKSWALIDAD SANG TAWO
Ang una nga dapat dumdumon naton
amo nga may diperensya sa tunga sang
sekswalidad kag sang akto sang sex.
Sa karon nga panahon, ang sekswalidad
nagakahulogan sang isa ka konkreto nga
bahin sang bug-os nga persona sa diin ang
isa ka tawo nagapakig-angot sa iban sa iya
pagkalalaki ukon iya pagkababayi. Gani,
nagalakip ini sang tagsa ka bahin sang kabuhi
sang tawo, kag dapat man ini patubuon
sang lalaki kag babayi sa iya kaugalingon,
pareho man sang iya kaugalingon nga
pagtubo. Paagi sa sekswalidad, ang lalaki kag
babayi nagapahayag, nagakomunikar, kag
nagapabatyag sang iya kaugalingon.
Ang basihan sining paghangup sa
sekswalidad amo mismo ang pagtuga sa
tawo. Ang lalaki kag babayi nagalarawan sang
Imahen sang Dios, kag ining ila bokasyon ila
ginatuman indi para sa soltero ukon soltera,
kundi bilang mag-asawa. Sa sini nga bagay,
ang lalaki kag babayi, pareho kag alalangay
sing dignidad, may ila kaugalingon nga
kinamatarong kag katungdanan. Pero sa amo
man nga tion, ang lalaki kag babayi, bangud
man sa ila sekswalidad lain sa isa kag isa,
kag nagakomplimentar sa isa kag isa, indi
lamang sa ila lawas, kundi nagalambot pati sa
kadadalman sang ila moral kag espiritwal nga
estado. Ining pagkomplimentar sa isa kag isa
amo ang basihan sang paghatagay nila sa isa
kag isa sang dulot sang ila kaugalingon, kag ini
mahimo lamang paagi sa paghigugma.
Gani, ang husto nga pagtubo sang
sekswalidad matigayon lamang sa isa ka
pagkahamtong nga ginapahayag paagi sa
isa ka paghigugma nga himpit kag lubos nga
paghatag sang kaugalingon bilang dulot.
Ini nga pagkahamtong mapakita suno sa
lainlain nga estado sang kabuhi sang tawo:
1) ang paghiusa sa lawas sang mag-asawa;
2) ang konsagrado nga celibacy nga hilway
nga ginpili para sa Ginharian sang Dios; 3)
ang pagkaputli sang mga lamharon antes
sila magpakasal ukon maghalad sang ila

1. Formally opened in 1869, 4 years after the
Diocese of Jaro was established
2. Founded by the Most Rev. Mariano Cuartero,
First Bishop of the Diocese.
3. It is the fifth seminary to be established in
the Philippines.
4. It was placed under the care of the Padres
Paules or the Vincentian Fathers who were
given the task of forming the local clergy
fromits foundation until 1974.
5. The seminary was placed under the
patronage of a Dominican Saint, St. Vincent
Ferrer in recognition of the religious order
of its founder, Bishop Cuartero who was a
Dominican.
6. For a time the Seminary offered a college
education other than the priesthood. It was
affiliated with the University of Sto. Tomas
in Manila in 1881. Families who opted that
their sons pursue their college education in
Jaro rataher than Manila sent them here at
the College of St. Vincent Ferrer. During this
time many sons of prominent Jarenos were
educated here.
7. The present building is the third building
inaugurated in 1956. The first building was
razed by fire in 1906 and the second building
was burned to the ground with incendiary
bombs dropped by American planes.
8. From 1869 to 2014 the seminary has
produced approximately 782 priests for
Western Visayas, 16 of whom became
bishops.
9. The seminary is a losing financial venture
but it is maintained evenat great expense
to the Archdiocese of Jaro because this is
the only way we can ensure that there
will be enough priests in

the future. Last year our expenses reached
approximately 11.6 million pesos. Of this
amount seminarians paid only a total of 10.3
million pesos, leaving us with a 1.3 million-
peso deficit.
10. Generous Catholics and some parishes
in the archdiocese are supporting the
seminary financially and through the Halad
Humay program, just enough to keep it
afloat. The parish of Jaro is one of its biggest
supporters.
11. The seminary has at the moment 4 EKK
scholars supported by their parishes and
seminary benefactors, 9 merit scholars and
6 partial scholars.
12. The seminary is fully implementing
the K to 12 program in compliance with
government regulations. It will be adding
two classrooms to accommodate Grades 11
and 12, including (since we are a seminary)
dormitory facilities, a separate chapel, study
hall and its appurtenances and restrooms for
at least 40 extra student-seminarians.
13. For school year 2014-2015 we have 79
seminarians in the high school, 10 in the
pre-college, 43 in the college, 3 in the special
philosophy program (young professionals
who feel called to the priesthood), 2
in the bridge program (seminarians
from other seminaries transferring
to the archdiocese), and 2
Carmelite Postulants taking up

une 25, 2014. Pope Francis kicked
off his last general audience of the
season with a visit to the sick and the
elderly at Paul VI Hall.
Its too hot outside for the sick, for
yourselves, and then theres the problem
with the rain. Its better for you to watch
the audience from this big screen. Is that
okay?
Outside, pilgrims scrambled with
their umbrellas to shelter themselves as
well. Still, Pope Francis had no problem
riding, uncovered, on his Pope mobile
throughout the Square.

priests or nuns.
I often remember the face of the
nun that taught me the catechesis. Shes
probably in Heaven, because she was a
saint. But I always remember her, and I am
thankful for this nun.
The Pope went on to say that its not
possible to believe in God and Christ, but
not in the Church, calling it an absurd
dichotomy. He added that each persons
relationship with God is personal, but
not private, and is further enriched by
looking after the unity and Communion
that Christ intended for his Church.

asked for prayers for the sick and the elderly. His
catechesis focused on membership to the Catholic
Church, saying that it becomes like a first and last
name. He also explained that the Christian identity
derives fromthat membership.
No one becomes a Christian on their own, is this
clear? No on becomes a Christian on their own. There
are no Christians made in laboratories. A Christian
is part of a population that comes from far away, he
belongs to the Church community.
The Pope said that the Church is a united
family, where people learn howto become disciples
of the Lord. But, he added that Christians should be
thankful to those who came before them, as well as
the people who teach along the way, be it parents,

He said the papal visit would certainly

The Vatican has not yet formally announced
the dates and specific itinerary that the pope will
observe in the Philippines.
Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle
said one of the purposes of the papal visit is to come
close to the people who suffered from typhoon
Yolanda in November 2013 and the magnitude 7.2
earthquake in October 2013.
The Vatican considers Asia as a continent of

Exhortation Christifideles Laici was chosen as the
programs main focus because it is referred to as the
magna carta for all lay people.
It is an integral and brilliant synthesis of the
teachings of Vatican II on the laity, enriched by the
post-Council experience compiled during the Synod
of Bishops in 1987, Tacorda added.
Aside from the study of Christifideles Laici, as
well as training and application of the contents of
the said document to guide the action of lay people
in a parish setting, participants of the programalso
benefited from the Formation Guide based on the
Apostolic Exhortation.
Tacorda said the Formation Guide was designed
to help participants study more deeply the contents of
Christifideles Laici through individual study, prayer-
reflection, discussion and sharing in small groups.
Teachers of the Faith
According to Tacorda, the ACCCE was able to
procureacopyof Christifideles Laici inHiligaynon, which
the participants usedduring the seminar-workshop.
The Formation Guide based on
Christifideles Laici itself, was written
to accompany the study of the said
document in view of helping the
parishes through their Parish Councils
to train their own fellow believers in
living the Faith.
Tacorda further explained Hence,
it is intended that this training can be
replicated by the participants in their
own parishes, to reach out to the vast
majority of people and with them
discover and value the beauty of their
calling by living their lay spirituality in
todays world and moving this world
nearer to the Kingdom.
Christifideles Laici is the Apostolic
Exhortation on the Vocation and Mission

missed my gadgets, toys, pets and the usual
things I am doing at home, I am still happy
because, here we enjoy playing together,
praying together, eating together and
studying together. For me, it is a way of
disciplining me because whenever I am in
the house, I used to wake up very late in
the morning. However, I need to wake up
at 5:30 in the morning here to attend to
our prayers and Mass. It is quite unusual
for me but it creates an impact in me,
forming me to become a responsible and
disciplined person.
My dream of becoming a pilot is still
carved in my mind and heart. However, it will
always be the Will of God which will prevail. I
may want to fly an airplane up in the sky but
God may let me do more than that; He can let
me send souls up to Heaven if He really calls
me to become one of His priests.

Gods Will Always Prevails
MKK... from page 1...
I
t is a privilege for me to be part of
the community of St. Vincent Ferrer
Seminary. Though, I admit that I have
not felt that call for the priesthood yet,
maybe God will always be there to help me
see the signs in the course of time through
the people I meet everyday and the
happenings that will build up my whole
personality as a Grade 7 seminarian.
When I was in my early years in
elementary, I had wished to someday
become a pilot. My parents were always
there to support me even to the extent that
they needed to transfer me here in Iloilo
fromPassi to study in Colegio de las Hijas de
Jesus. They would always remind me of the
importance of discipline, much needed if I
was to pursue aeronautics someday. During
our stay in Iloilo, we met Manong Leo whom
I salute much because of his cleanliness as a
person towards his things, his decent actions,
modest attitude and respect for others. I
want to be like him; only to find out that he
was an ex-seminarian of St. Vincent Ferrer
Seminary. That idea led my parents to send
me here to be formed spiritually upright
and as a disciplined man. I, myself, would
also like to enter the seminary because I
like the ambiance of the community here,
especially during those times that we had
our search-in last April. What made this
longing for the ideal self is the person I saw
in Manong Leo. For almost a month of staying
in SVFS as a high school seminarian, I can
feel the brotherly love of my manongs here,
especially our buddies, the one to whomwe
share ideas and problems with.
Even though there were times that I

rriba San Vicente, this line conquers
my mind every time I pass by the gate of
St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary. My heart is
always asking me about the mysterious school
for young men who admire and persevere to
be a priest, to be a servant of God. Yes, due to
that curiosity I am always looking forward to
learn about the true meaning of the seminary.
What kind of school is that? What kind of
formation do they offer? And there it is, God
answered those questions.
Listen to my voice and let yourselves
be led by me, beloved sons. Thus my own life
will increase in you and my light will shine to
you These words came from the Blessed
Virgin Mary in the published book entitled Our
Lady Speaks to Her Beloved Priest. As a youth,
answering the call to enter the seminary is a
challenge. However, God truly diminishes those
feelings of hesitation and fear.
Saturday afternoon, there were 3 young
men who arrived in our parish. They were
searching for our parish priest but I didnt
mind them. On the next day, when the mass
was about to start, I sawthemwith our parish
priest, wearing their clericals. I realized that
those men in white uniformwere seminarians
of the Archdiocese of Jaro. They were given
the privilege to speak. I thought that they
would give a talk about the Year of Faith but
I was surprised when they talked about their
vocation, how they became seminarians, and
what life in the seminary is like. The same
event followed the next day but this time it is
in our school. They had a vocation campaign
wherein they gave a clearer picture of the
seminary formation.
January of this year, I decided to take the
entrance examat St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary.
With Gods grace, I was one of the aspirants
who underwent the search-in. Being in the
seminary was a fruitful and happy experience
which made me glad when finally, I became a
part of it.
Formation starts here at the SVFS. Living
in the seminary forms me as a human being:
physically, intellectually, morally and most of
all spiritually. For many years, it stands with its
own mission and vision to produce servants of
God and apostolic proclaimers. It rises above
the clouds where Christians can assure that
those who are called with their listening heart
will be formed to become priests in the Temple
of Heaven here on earththe Church.
God is really good because if you always pray
to Him faithfully He will help you. I believe
that God is always there if you really trust and
love Him. Isa lang kita, mga anak ni Kristo,
gani magbinuligay kita kag magpadayon sa
aton misyon sa MKK. Mangin malapit kita sa
isa kag isa, nagatililipon, nagapalanggaanay
kag nagatuo nga ara si Lord sa tunga naton.
Nagasalig gid ako sa Ginoo.
After the sharing session, each barangay
presented its number. Some rendered a
chorus of their own composition. There was
interpretative dance and modern dance, and
age didnt matter. Old and young danced to
the beat. Everybody laughed their hearts out
and enjoyed every moment of the MKK Day.
Came eating time, and at about 12:00
noon each group went to their table to share
food with others, after which, the program
resumed. There were contests, and we
enjoyed most the statue dance with its
confusing rules. This is how it went: when
there is music, do not dance, but as soon as
the music stops, start dancing to your utmost
ability. I said to myself, Ill do this perfectly,
no mistakes. But I was caught unaware, I
continued dancing even if there was music.
At 5:30 p.m. we gathered, at the tennis
court, for the celebration of the Holy
Eucharist. We assembled there together
with the priests, seminarians and MKK of
each barangay. The sky was cloudy, in fact
it was showering that time, and we had our
umbrellas opened. When the Holy Mass
started, the showering miraculously stopped,
and we went on without a hitch.
Fr. Ronald C. De Leon gave the homily. He
explained that, Today, the present generation
belongs to the grab generation where each
one seems to be maiyahon-iyahon, sakun,
daluk, luyag nga mangin iya ang tanan. But
Jesus teaches us otherwise. He teaches us
what a gift generation is and how we can be
members of this generation. Jesus is a gift for
us sothat wewill havelifetoits fullness. It is an
indication of God for us to become a member
of this gift generation as He gives Jesus, His
Son, to us as His gift. The early Christians were
examples of this gift generation even in giving
up their life for the Faith. We, the MKK should
follow their example, let us then be members
of this gift generation.
Nobody is so poor that he cannot give
May our Lord Jesus with His Body as His Gift
to us and Gift for others remind us always to
be also a gift to others.

M
ay it be done unto me according
to your Word. This profession
of Mary to accept the Will of God
brought to the world salvation through the
incarnate Word, Jesus Christ.
The humble YES of our Blessed Mother
played a big role in our salvation. It is
somewhat similar to the call to the priesthood.
God put a seed of vocation in each one of us
which is nurtured in our family and destined
to growto its fullness.
I remember when I was a child around
6 7 years old. My grandfather asked if Im
willing to become an altar server at my young
age. Imvery curious about this thought, and I
was surprised with myself when I immediately
answered YES, without any hesitation.
I became a member of the ministry. As
I continue to serve God and the church, I
became fond of serving and doing pastoral
activities. I was deeply attached to the church
and I was there most of the time, feeling the
presence of God.
One day I overheard one of my co
members that they want to enter a school
which they call the SEMINARY. After
hearing the word, something rang like a bell
inside me, telling me that I should go to that
place soon.
A few days later, I asked my parents
about the seminary. They said, To, para na
sa mga lalaki nga gusto mag eskwela para
mangin pari. Ngaa gusto mu magsulod haw?
At the back of my mind, there were so many
questions rattling in my curious brain but
something urge me to say YES. And I said it
loud and clear with full confidence. They just
smiled and said Bata ka pa To, mabag o pa
na isip mo. I want to protest that Imsincere
with my decision to enter the seminary, but
no one would listen to me as a young boy
at that time. However, I didnt disregard my
vocation to enter the seminary and become
priest someday.
As a teenager, there are temptations
along the way, but something within me
tells me that I should not mind such things.
I met priests along my journey, like Rev. Fr.
Rogelio Palmos Jr. and Rev. Fr. Rev. Nathaniel
Gentizon. Their stories inspired me to hold on
to my vocation. They were words of wisdom
and encouragement for me.
When I was about to enter in my
secondary education, my parents asked me
again if Imstill willing to enter the seminary
and become a priest. My reply is still a YES,
with whole sincerity and confidence. That
is when they finally said, Sige To a, maski
pigado lang ta pangitaan ta guid paagi. After
hearing these words from my parents, my
heart leapt with joy, and Imsure that they are
supporting me in my decision after all.
I continued my studies here in the city
which became a hindrance for me to serve
in my parish. However, it did not impede
me to follow my calling. I always go to Jaro
Cathedrals Adoration Chapel.
One day while I was on my way to school,
I met a familiar face. It was Fr. Nathaniel, and I
was surprised that he still recognized me. He
told me about the seminarys program called,
ESKOLAR NG KRISTIYANONG KATILINGBAN or
EKK a scholarship programfor those who want
toenter the seminary, but not financiallycapable.
I took the opportunity to take the
examination. I was nervous but I surrendered
everything to God. I told Him to take over for
me so that I could fulfill His will.
One day, I received a text message from
the administration of SVFS, saying that I
passed the scholarship examination. Reading
the message, tears started to fall from my
eyes, tears of joy as they say, and it came to me
that if you are chosen, God helps, no matter
howhard challenges and obstacles are.
I entered the seminary, humblyand
generously giving my whole self to God, to be
formed better as a man of the altar someday.
My stay here has been a great experience. Im
now in the process of knowing God whom I
will commit and serve with my whole life.
To all men who are like me, who has this
desire in their hearts, take care of that special
invitation, nurture it inside you, and remember:
IF YOUARECHOSEN, GODHELPS.
God Helps!
Jeul Renz C. Azuelo
G
et up, let us go Those were the
words of Jesus to His disciples during
the arrest in Gethsemane which was
the beginning of our Lords Passion. Those
words served as an invitation to the disciples
to be with their master as He accomplishes
the divine will of the Father.
Vocation starts with the Lords invitation.
We identify this unique invitation as a
calling. Each one of us has his own vocation
in life which depends on the talent that God
has given us. Choosing ones vocation is a very
hard task because you are not only thinking
about your desires, but also about the needs
of the community. Priestly vocation starts
with the Lords initiative. We desire to become
a priest because it is the Lord who planted this
desire in our hearts.
My desire to become a priest started when
I was a child. I was amazed with the beauty of
the Holy Mass and I felt the presence of Christ
in the person of the priest. I also became
interested with matters of faith and religion.
I was fond of memorizing prayers, reading
the Scriptures, drawing religious figures,
and discussing religious matters with my
classmates. I also remembered that I enjoyed
playing pari-parian in our house. As I grew
older, I was involved in the ministries in our
parish. Those are the spiritual experiences
that inspired me to become a man of the altar.
I took the entrance and EKK ( Eskolar ng
Kristianong Katilingban) scholarship exams
last year. The test wasnt very easy. I felt very
nervous and anxious about the results of the
tests but I entrusted everything to the Lord in
prayer and surrendered everythingto His will.
After the interview, I experienced a foretaste
of seminary life and through a recollection
and search-in along with other aspirants.
During the recollection we reflected with the
signs of Gods calling in our hearts. Search-
in days were very fun and exciting because
we had the chance to be acquainted not only
with each other but also with the seminary.
After the final screening, the seminary
informed me that I passed all the exams and
was chosen as one of the EKK scholars. Deo
Gratias! (Thanks be to God). I thanked the
Lord so much for the blessings that He had
given me. Napamatud-an ko nga basta gani
ang imo handumpara sa Iya kahimayaan, indi
Niya gid ikaw pagpabay-an, basta magtuo ka
lang sa Iya.
The next step would not be so easy for
me. I needed to decide if I would proceed
or not. Again, I reflected with the signs and
listened to the silent inspiration of the Holy
Spirit through the Scriptures, prayer, and
Eucharistic Adoration. Finally, I came up with
the decision to proceed. Despite my anxieties
and fears, I decided to go on. I want to follow
Jesus and be formed in the seminary to
become a priest. I knowmy formation life will
not be easy. It is a Calvary that anyone who
wants to follow Jesus must forget himself,
carry His cross, and walk with the Lord. I
always put in my mind that seminary life is
a way of the cross. Bearing the cross of my
discipleship, I am willing to be trained to
become a servant of the Lord. I started my
journey with the Lord and carried my cross
last June 9, 2014 (Pentecost Sunday) at St.
Vincent Ferrer Seminary. I am now a Pre-
college seminarian.
I hope that I will discover and feel the
depth of this call in my heart during my stay
here in the seminary. For me, vocation to
the priesthood is not only a desire but it is a
special invitation to get up and go with the
Lord. Although the journey is like a Calvary,
the reward is the crown of glory reserved
for those who persevere in the road of
discipleship. Let us pray for more vocations.
Lets care for this unique invitation of the
Lord to us.
Send, OLord, holyapostles intoYour Church.
