ONLINE ASSESSMENT
Once youve successfully submitted your online application
you will receive an email notification with a link to the online
assessment.
Were looking to find out more about how your personal
abilities complement your professional qualifications.
The online assessment consists of two components, both of
which you will need to complete in order to move on to the
next stage of the recruitment process:
PART 1 PART 2
Part 1 is a series of competency-based questions.
Click here for an example of the sort of questions that are asked.
This test asks you to review a range of behavioural statements and to
indicate how well they describe you. Some of the statements will describe
you well, some will not. You will use a rating scale to tell us how like you
each statement is, as well as which statements are most like you.
This assessment is not timed but it should take about 30 minutes. Once
completed, youll receive an email notification of the outcome. Youll need
to successfully complete the first component of the online assessment before
proceeding to the second.

TOP TIPS
Ensure you have researched Shells values and read our section on
what we look for.
Before starting Part 1, take some time to consider examples of how
youve worked most successfully in the past.
Dont try to second-guess what Shell is looking for. Above all we want
candidates to have integrity, so be true to yourself and confident of
your opinions.
Make sure you are in the right frame of mind to take the tests (e.g.
motivated, focused, not tired or stressed)
Ensure you choose a quiet place and time to take the assessments -
make sure you wont be interrupted or distracted.
If English isnt your first language you may want to have a dictionary
to hand.
For Part 2 you will probably want to use a pen, paper and a calculator
as you will be required to make calculations (e.g. multiplications,
percentages) to get to the right answer.
Take the tests seriously only the numerical test is timed, so dont
speed through and take the time to read the questions properly
Unfortunately we cant give individual feedback due to the volume
of applicants

INTERVIEW 3
STEP 2 STEP 1 STEP 3 STEP 4
If you successfully complete the online tests you may be
invited to an interview. The interview will take place either face-
to-face or over the telephone. Well be assessing how you perform
against our assessment criteria, including your past achievements
and your relationship-building skills (please refer to What we
look for for further details). It is a good idea to come to the
interview with some specific examples of your achievements in mind
so that you can talk about them in depth.
This is an opportunity for you to tell us more about your motivations
for applying, the challenges youve faced and how youve
demonstrated the qualities were looking for. Youll also have
the chance to ask us questions about Shell, our culture, work
environment or other areas of interest to you.

ASSESSED INTERNSHIP
Our internships are paid and are a fully assessed route into
Shell based on the following criteria: Capacity, Achievement and
Relationship (please refer to What we look for for further
details).
A Shell Assessed Internship gives you the opportunity to gain first-
hand experience of what its like to work at a global company.
Youll be working alongside some of our brightest people on real
projects that match your interests and abilities.
Throughout your Assessed Internship, youll be supported by a
mentor and a supervisor who will give you regular and structured
performance evaluations.
Before the end of the Assessed Internship youll have a formal
mid-term internship review with your mentor and supervisor. Prior
to the final review at the end of the Assessed Internship youll be
asked to complete an online exercise and written task. Youll also
be asked to prepare a final presentation about your project.
SHELL RECRUITMENT DAY
Prior to the Shell Recruitment Day youll attend an informal, non-assessed
interactive engagement where youll be given further insight into Shells
business operations.
During the Shell Recruitment Day well explore how well youre able to
manage various business scenarios. Well assess your capacity to analyse
critical issues and identify the wider implications. Youll participate in
various activities including an online exercise, a written exercise, a group
discussion, a case study analysis and a final interview.
The Shell Recruitment Day is not a competition and all candidates who
meet the required standards will be considered for roles within the
Graduate Programme.
