Alpha (INCI name: Alpha Arbutin), they are skin beautifying and whitening agent
which can effectively and selectively inhibit activity of tyrosinase, which is an enzyme
participating in the formation of melanin pigment, therefore arbutin can eliminate the
formation of melanin and hyperpigmentation without altering the normal growth of the
epidermic cell or inhibiting the expressing of tyrosinase itself. Arbutin, both alpha and
beta form, has by far higher stability than hydroquinone, and nevertheless, is
decomposed into hydroquinone and glucose rapidly in the presence of the enzyme
hydrolysis in the skin and exhibit the remedying effect to melanosis. It shows skin
lightening effects at the same level as hydroquinone, alpha form even have higher
efficient than the beta form. Arbutin causes no irritation, scarce sensitization, which
permits continuous use for a long period of time in high concentration to develop
satisfactory skin lightening effects. Arbutin has excellent effects on liver spots, age
spots, sun spots and skin pigmentation disorders. It has been widely used in J apan as an
active ingredient for both external use cosmetics (such as lotions, packs, creams) and
topical drugs (such as ointment, cream, etc.).
Applications: All cosmetic and personal care products.
Use levels: Beta form: 1-5%. Dissolve in warm water.
Alpha form: 0.2-2%. Dissolve in warm water.

KAD-15

KAD-15

has an excellent property of inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase present in
the human skin so as to inhibit the melanin formation. It is more efficacious than
straight kojic acid. KAD-15 can produce excellent effects in even toning the skin,
fighting age spots, pregnancy marks, freckles as well as general skin pigmentation
disorders of face and body. Unlike kojic acid, which often causes product stability

problems such as color changes, KAD-15 offers excellent product stability without any
color instability problems.
Features:
Skin Lightening: KAD-15 offers more efficacious skin lightening effects. Compared
with kojic acid, KAD-15 markedly enhances the inhibitory effects on tyrosinase activity,
which prohibits the formation of melanin.
Light and Heat Stability: KAD-15 is light and heat stable, while kojic acid tends to
oxidize over time.
pH Stability: KAD-15 is stable within a wide pH range of 4-9, which provides
flexibility to formulators.
Color Stability: Unlike kojic acid, KAD-15 does not turn brown or yellow over time
for two reasons. First, kojic acid is not stable to light and heat, and tends to oxidize,
which results in color change (often yellow or brown). Second, kojic acid tends to
chelate with metal ions (e.g. iron), which often results in color change. On the contrary,
KAD-15 is stable to pH, light, heat and oxidation, and does not complex with metal ions,
which lead to color stability.
Applications: Skin care, sun care, skin whitening/lightening, treatment for pigmentary
disorders such as age spots etc.

(Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate) is a stable, water soluble vitamin C
derivative. Vitamin C has been well-known for its inhibitory effects on melanin
formation, but it has not been widely used for this function due to its instability in
formulations. A number of vitamin C derivatives such as ascorbyl palmitate or ascorbyl
stearate, have been used for 20 years as primary depigmenting materials, however, these
conventional vitamin C derivatives can destabilize formulations, and magnesium
ascorbyl phosphate now replaces other ascorbates in most products.
Features:
Water Solubility: MAP SL is completely water soluble and easily absorbed through the
skin. Its water-solubility offers the formulator with formulating flexibility, Stability.

is much more stable to heat and light than vitamin C. Experimental data
showed that 3% aqueous solution of MAP SL maintained 90% of its activity after 6
months of storage in 40 C water bath.
Skin Lightening/Beautifying Effects: MAP SL exhibits a strong skin lightening effects
which was shown useful in clinical practice. It has strong inhibitory effects on melanin
formation therefore resulting in beautified, even-toned skin.
Radical Scavenger: Once absorbed into the skin, MAP SL

can act as a radical
scavenger to eliminate radicals and remove the signs of wrinkles and aging.
Synergistic with Vitamin E: MAP SL works synergistically with Vitamin E.

Kojic Acid SL is a tyrosinase inhibitor; and it chelates with metal ions. As a tyrosinase
inhibitor, kojic acid was found to suppress isolated tyrosinase due to chelation of its
copper. Kojic acid has been found useful as a melanin formation inhibitor, UV-induced
hyperpigmentation preventive agent for the human skin.
Kojic Acid is the first well-received skin lightener after hydroquinone. It successfully
fights age spots and pigmentation on face and body. It has increasingly been used as a
skin-depigmenting agent in skin care products in J apan since 1988.
Applications: Skin Care Products.

(Triclosan) is a well-known broad spectrum antimicrobial agent for use in
deodorant soap bars, liquid soaps, liquid hand washes, shower and bath products, lotions,
creams, hair shampoos, shaving products, toothpaste and month rinses. Oletron has also
found a wide range of Industrial and Institutional applications such as Hand
disinfectants and Hard Surface disinfectants. In Household areas, Oletron has been used
in dish-washing products, laundry detergents, softeners and hard surface cleaners.
Other applications include packaging materials, medical devices, fibers, fabrics, flooring
materials.

Highly effective fungicide for cosmetics and personal care products, its active
component is IPBC (Iodopropynyl butylcarbamate). It has unique properties and is cost

inhibit the growth of yeasts and molds.

mechanism. It can be used in topical applications to treat fungal or bacterial
infections of the skin and hair, treat and prevent inching, flaking and scaling of the
scalp caused by dandruff or seborrhea.

Sino Lion offers a series of pearl products that include PPP-100, Pearl Plus SL and Pearl
SL. PPP-100 is pure pearl powder in water dispersible form, Pearl Plus SL is pure pearl
powder in water soluble form while Pearl SL is hydrolyzed pearl in liquid form.
Since the ancient times, pearl powder has been highly regarded in China as a beneficial
health and remedy ingredient that is widely used in expensive Chinese medicines and
health and nutritional preparations. It is believed that the utilization of the pearl can
nourish the skin, strengthen the body; and slow down the aging process. More recently,
scientists have extensively analyzed pearl powder and found that the most beneficial
ingredients in pearl powder are the 14-18 amino acids (including the eight that can not
be synthesized by the human body), and many minerals including bio-active calcium,
magnesium and trace levels of iron, copper, zinc, etc.).
Pearl can be used as an additive to cosmetics and personal care products. When used in
cosmetics and personal care products, they work synergistically to enhance the action of
any skin moisturizer, skin lightener/toner, skin repair and UV-protection products. Once
absorbed into the skin, it promotes the growth of new skin cells and replenishes the cells

functions of pearl include promoting the activities of SOD (Super Oxide Dismutase) and
preventing melanin formation. The functionalities of skin whitening and prevention of
skin aging are achieved because the SOD enhancement has the function of clearing the
skin of cellulite-like toxins. It is also suitable for use in creams and lotions designed to
heal minor slow healing wounds, treatment of boils, pigmentation disorders, blemishes

etc. It also acts as an exfoliator with functions similar to alpha- and beta-hydroxy acids
without any irritation and harshness. When used in color cosmetics, it moisturizes and

history of use in traditional medicines and cosmetics, attributes for skin lightening; UV-

HerbSense Extract PC-99 (99%) and PC-98 (98%) is a highly concentrated form
of resveratrol (99% and 98% minimum trans-Resveratrol, respectively), extracted from
the roots of a Chinese Herb, called Hu Zhang ( Polygonum cuspidatum Sieb. et Zucc.).
It is a new natural source for resveratrol, which provides formulators and researchers
with exciting new opportunities in their innovative product research and development
efforts.
Resveratrol (trans-3,5,4-trihydroxystilbene) has generated a lot of interest recently
since Dr. Pezzuto and his colleagues published a paper in Science showing that
resveratrol in grapes may prevent cancer. Resveratrol is one of a group of compounds
(called phytoalexins) that are produced in plants during times of environmental stress
such as adverse weather or insect, animal or pathogenic attack. Resveratrol has been
identified in more than 70 species of plants, including mulberries and peanuts. Grapes,
however, are the most well-known sources. This compound is also thought to be
responsible, in part, for the cholestrol-lowering effects of red wine and may also explain
why those consuming a Mediterranean-type diet (of which red wine consumption is
characteristic) may have a reduced risk of heart disease-The French Paradox.
In the current study, resveratrol was shown to be effective during all three phases of the
cancer development process: initiation, promotion and progression. Resveratrol was
found to have antioxidant and antimutagenic activity and also increased levels of the
phase II drug-metabolizing enzyme quinone reductase, an enzyme capable of
metabolically detoxifying carcinogens, thereby ridding them from the body. All three of
these physiological effects are indicative of resveratrol preventing cancer initiation-the
initial, irreversible stage of the cancer process. Resveratrol also demonstrated anti-
inflammatory effects and inhibited the activity of the cyclooxygenase and
hydroperoxidase enzymes.

It is desirable that these health benefits of resveratrol be extended to skin care,
especially in sun skin products. However, no high purity resveratrol was available up
until our Extract PC was introduced.

Chitosan is a partially deacetylated polymer of N-acetyl glucosamine. The molecular
weight varies from10,000 to more than 1,000,000 daltons. The mole fraction of
deacetylated units, defined as the degree of deacetylation, is usually from 70% to 90%.
In acidic conditions, the deacetylated amino groups are protonized to form high
positive charge densities and make the chitosan soluble in water. As a result, chitosan
is usually dissolved in a dilute, weak acid, such as acetic acid, citric acid or lactic acid.
Chitosan possesses moisturizing ability, film-forming ability and ability to control flow
characteristics, and these properties are useful in a variety of cosmetic applications.
Apart from the cosmetic applications, chitosan has found widespread applications as a
fat absorber in the health food industry.
