Final Exam: Saturday, December 8th, 11:30am-2:30pm
Oce Hours: Sproul 4121: T 2:15pm-3:15pm and R 3:15 to 4:15
Discussion Section: Attendance is required.
Required Course Materials:
PearsonMyLabs (see iLearn for enrollment instructions)
Hubbard and Obrien Microeconomics (earlier editions ok, electronic version available through MyE-
conLab)
Course Description: An introduction to the study of the economic system from the micro, or
individual decision-makers, perspective. Includes analysis of competition, monopoly, and the dis-
tribution of income.
Grading: Your course grade will be based upon a comprehensive nal exam, a midterm exam,
homework, quizzes, and attendance to discussion sections as follows:
Final Exam 40%
Midterm 20%
Homework 25%
Lecture Attendance 7.5%
Section Attendance 7.5%
Exams: There will be no make-up for the midterm exam. If you should miss the midterm exam,
your grade on the nal exam will be automatically applied to the missed exam. Also if you take
the midterm but score higher on the nal exam than on your midterm, then the nal exam grade
will automatically replace that midterm grade. The nal exam is mandatory. Failure to take the
nal exam will result in a grade of F for the course.
Homework: I will be assigning homeworks on MyEconLab that will be due starting in the second
week. Please check the course website on MyEconLab often to keep up with any changes in the
class. I will drop your lowest homework score at the end of the quarter.
Lecture Attendance: Attendance will be measured with clickers starting in the second full week.
I realize that sometimes there are technical issues with clickers, so everyone will automatically be
given three free skips to oset days when their clicker was out of batteries, they were unable to
make it to class, etc.
Section Attendance: Attendance will taken starting in the rst full week. You will be allowed
to miss two days of section without penalty.

Other Course Policies:
1. Academic Dishonesty I cannot over-state how severely I will deal with instances of
academic dishonesty during exams (including copying, crib notes, etc.). Cheating
lowers academic standards and decreases the value of degrees earned by students
with high levels of integrity. If anyone is caught cheating during an exam, I will
pursue the strongest sanctions possible through the procedures laid out by UCRs
code of conduct: this means that not only would someone caught cheating on
exam fail that exam, but that they will likely fail the course and be sanctioned
by the University. Collaboration on homework assignments is permitted and encouraged;
it is easier to learn this material while discussing it with others than it is to learn it on your
own. However, if you do not put enough of your own eort into the homework throughout the
term, I can guarantee you that this lead to you having a weak understanding of the material
and poor performances on your exams.
More information about UCRs code of conduct regarding academic integrity can be found
online: http://conduct.ucr.edu/Policies/Academic+Integrity+Policy+and+Procedures.htm
2. Disruptive behavior is prohibited.
3. Students with disabilities who wish to request special accommodations are encouraged to contact
me during oce hours or by appointment.
