Market Drivers - Petcoke Production

A World of Solutions

29
Additional Drivers
Worldwide LNG price expected to stay high, except
In North America the shale boom has driven natural gas prices down
Worldwide prices are unlikely to change as a result of U.S.
LNG export
Total forecasted consumption on an oil equivalent basis is in excess of
3,000 million tons per year
The first six projects in the U.S. (three approved) have a total
contribution to U.S. LNG export amounts of 57 million tons per year
on an oil equivalent basis close to insignificant
Price differential between LNG and petcoke
It is anticipated to increase as more petcoke finds its way to the
market

Case Study - Basis

Basis of study:
Base Asian refinery 20 MTA (~ 400 KBD) seeking an expansion

Crude slate: Mix of Arabian, African and Latin American crudes (25API, 3% S)
Expanded refinery maintains the same crude diet up to 38 MTA of total capacity
Configuration: delayed coking + FCC (HT feed), distillate HT, full gasoline path
(reforming, BTX, C
5
Isom, alkylation)
Expansion train replicates the existing set of processes except H
2
and power
production
LNG is available
Investment costs are USGC, 1Q 2013 basis
Asia product/feed price basis [crude - US$ 122/bbl, LNG - US$
15/mmBtu]
Expansion alternatives for H2 and power production:

LNG for H
