The Cat 924H Wheel Loader is a highly productive
machine. Equipped with auxiliary hydraulics,
the third function enables the operation of a
2.5 cubic yard multi-purpose bucket. The light
loader provides unsurpassed operational readiness
for the construction of air!elds, roads, landing
zones, defensive berms, anti-tank ditches and
loading trucks. The Cat 924H also demonstrates
its versatility by lifting barriers for installation,
stockpiling material such as gravel, and performing
various demolition functions.
The articulation point is located near the midpoint
of the machine, increasing balance and durability,
and allowing for superior maneuverability in tight
operating conditions. Both the implement and
steering controls are responsive to operator input,
allowing exceptional control of the machine and its
attachments. The 924H is also a self-transportable
unit with a maximum travel speed of 23.9 MPH.

Engine.
The Cat C6.6 engine provides cleaner,
quieter operation while delivering
superior performance and durability. The
96 kW (128 hp) rated net power engine
meets all worldwide emissions standards
and features: "atter power curve for
outstanding response in the working RPM
range (1,900 to 2,300), noise reduction
technologies for up to 5 dB reduction, and
patented ACERT

Technology combined
with common rail fuel system, smart
waste gate turbocharger and cross"ow
head design for reduced emissions.

Heavy-duty axles feature hardened
gears and bearings for durable
performance. Rear axle oscillates
up to 12 to help assure four-

Cat Transmission. Rugged Cat
transmission uses heavy-duty

choose between manual shift and
two autoshift modes, Performance
or Economy. Performance mode
provides maximum acceleration
while the economy mode increases
fuel economy and improves
operator comfort.
Linkage Design. The Cat exclusive
VersaLink

design provides
toolcarrier controllability,
versatility and parallel lift.
Visibility is maximized throughout
the entire process due to the
linkage geometry. Equipped with
an integral quick coupler system,

OPERATOR SAFETY/COMFORT
The Cat

924H Tested, Proven, and Reliable Mission Capable

Crew Protection Kit. The armored crew
protection kit (CPK) on the 924H was
developed with the Troops protection and
survivability in mind. The armored cab
provides the operator with 360 protection,
including the roof and the "oor, from
small arms and fragmentation threats. An
emergency egress hatch is provided thru
the roof, and is accessible from both the
inside by the operator and from the outside
by rescue personnel. The transparent
armor provides excellent operator
visibility of the machine and surrounding
work area. These features of the CPK
allow the Engineer Troop to complete
military tasks safely and effectively.
Controls. Low effort, ergonomic joystick controls provide easy operation of
lift and tilt functions. The standard joystick features an integrated directional
control switch for added convenience. The operator programmable
transmission neutralizer can be set in seconds optimizing brake effort
for all applications.
Rear View Camera. This work area visual
enhancement system uses a closed circuit
video monitoring system. Up to the three
cameras can be mounted on the machine
frame. Objects can be viewed on a color
LCD monitor in the cab.
Operator Station. Experience comfort
and convenience in the H-Series cab.
The spacious interior and ergonomic
controls keep you comfortable
throughout the workday. The two-door
design lets you enter and exit from
either side of the machine and wide
serrated steps provide stable footing.
Both doors lock open 180 degrees
and feature sliding glass windows for
better communication with workers on
the ground. Large "at glass windows
provide excellent visibility all around
the machine. The rear window
features an electric defroster. Halogen
or HID auxiliary working lights
provide illumination options to suit
your job site.
Ride Control System. The Ride
Control System provides a
comfortable ride and excellent
material retention. Four nitrogen
charged accumulators set to different
pressures enable optimum cushioning
over uneven terrain for all loads
and speeds.
The system operates in Automatic,
as the loader ground speed exceeds
5 kph (3 mph) the system will
activate. Below 5 kph (3 mph) the
system is off, providing maximum
lift power.

Electric Service Center. Batteries, relay panel
and a tool box are conveniently located below
the left-side access platform. The engine
shutdown switch is housed within the relay
panel.
A compartment integrated into the access
platform contains the hood tilt actuation
switch, master switch and NATO-start
receptacle.
Ground Level Grease Points. Grease !ttings
are grouped on the right side of the machine
in two convenient locations in a service
compartment just below the right-side service
platform, and a bank located just off the non-
engine end frame. These locations facilitate
easy lubrication of vital components located
throughout the machine.

to be remanufactured and provide multiple life cycles. The Cat Reman

Service Life Extension Program (SLEP). The Service
Life Extension Program (SLEP) is based on a highly
successful program currently in place with the
DoD for the modernization of the U.S. militarys
construction and material handling equipment. As a
result, thousands of Cat machines are now realizing
a second life. The SLEP process is performed
at strategically selected dealers throughout the
Caterpillar worldwide dealer network.
The SLEP efforts have proven to be a great value
for the DoD, allowing the machines to meet mission
requirements and realize an additional machine
life cycle. The fact that this work can be done at
the dealer sites saves the Government millions in
shipping costs.
