Barchartsandhistogramsarecommonlyusedtorepresentdatasincetheyallowquick
assimilationandimmediatecomparisonofinformation.
Normallythebarsarevertical,butmaysometimesbehorizontal.

Usedwithcategoricaldata.
E.g.200studentsmightbeaskedtoindicatetheirfavouritesubjectatschooloutofMaths,
EnglishandScience.
Keypoint
Categoriesareusuallyonthehorizontalaxis.
Thebarsshouldbeseparatedfromeachotherbyagap(notalwaysadheredto).
Numberofpeople(frequency)isontheverticalaxisthiscouldbepresentedasa
percentageratherthantheactualnumberofpeople.
Histograms
Lookslikeabarchartwiththebarstogether.
Thedifferenceisthatthedatacollectediseitherdiscreteorcontinuousdata.Thismeansthat
thecategoriesofdataarerelatedtoeachotheralongacontinuum.
