SHEET NO.

1 :-
ISSUES/PROBLEMS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR REVITALIZATION :
1) NO PARKING SPACE No provision for parking visitors vehicles. The front entrance has
negligible space to serve as parking space for the complex. People usually pass by the
monument by the fact of no space for keeping vehicles.
2) NO LITERATURE ironically, despite of being such a state-of-art monument there is no sign of
any literature found in the complex. There are no overhang boards or any source of literature
and with the same reason suffers lack of visitors interest.
3) LACK OF SECURITY Although the site is potentially fenced with stone wall of 1m height, yet
many neighbour childrens are found playing insite complex, goats are grazing inside grass and
people sit inside tombs and play cards etc. Are major cause for deterioration of the monuments.
4) NEGLIGIBE LIGHTING After the sun sets, the complex is treated with no lighting fixtures to
emphasize the monument, instead it looks like a haunted place to enter at night. also due to no
street lighting it looks unsafe to walk through.
5) PREDOMINANT NEIGHBOURHOOD The building is set on a site within the locality of major
government buildings and thus due to there predominant scale and characteristic this site is left
undeveloped for years.
6) LACK OF ORGANIZED MANAGEMENT There is no restrcition for entering into the complex
even the keys to the tomb are handled with mosque authority making it susceptible to unfair
usage.

SHEET NO. 2 :-
CONCEPT :
1) CONCEPT EVOLUTION The building has the impact of indo-islamic-gothic style on its
architecture and thus to develop the complex we require a complex, which will certainly
revitalize the ambience of the era of the mentioned style and thus to maintain that we
incorporated the concept of pattern-planning for the site with following the islamic principle of
symmetry and purity by installing water features which will carry their souls to heaven.
The gothic features of blending te nature with the build form is represented by the
planning of the circulation and thus implementing a good juxta-positioning of
greenscapes with hardscapes.
2) CONCEPTUAL PLANNING The planning is done keeping in mind the concept of symmetry,
serenity and purity in the ambience of the space. The basic concept for planninfg is providing
multiple accessibilty circuation within the site to overcome the crowd conditions and to make
the flow of high frequency tourists at a time within complex. The planning also features a
secondary entrance with provision of parking. The spaces are so zoned such as while being on
any location on the site the visitors will enjoy the monumental scale beauty of the tombs.

SHEET NO. 3 :-
INTER-RELATION OF COMPLEX WITH THE NEIGHBOURHOOD ENVIRONMENT :
1) IMPACTS OF NEIGHBOURHOOD ON THE COMPLEX The neighbourhood of the complex is a
mix of multi functional buildings giving it various treatment of spaces. The civil court at the front
makes the ambience of the entrance quite a formal and segreggated from the chaotic
environment present at the back of the site which is a dense slum area, a zone of vulnerability.
The mosque besides the complex although adds to the characteristic of complex yet its scale
contradicts with that of the monuments.
2) IMPACTS OF COMPLEX ON THE NEIGHBOURHOOD The complex after revitalization will have a
great amount of positive impact in the form of generation of a tourist hotspot which will
generate employment opportunities for the slums and thus helping in city growth. The complex
will also reflect its sophisticated behaviour on the neighbour and will lead to rejuvenation of the
neighbour buildings in the sense of emphasizing the importance of monument.

SHEET NO. 4 :-
HOW THE ISSUES ARE CATERED WITH DESIGN :
1) PARKING SPACE For catering the issue of no parking at the front, we suggested a secondary
back entry to the site for the visitors with the vehicles so that the front entrance is reserved for
pedestrian users. The noises of vehicles and jams would not affect the sillhoute of the
monuments and wil l keep complex a safe and peaceful environment.
2) INTRICATED FENCING WORK The security issues are being taken into consideration by
proposing an intricated fence work at the boundary for preventing the unwanted entry of
animals and also the trespassers entry is restricted by security guard assistance.
3) AESTHETIC LIGHTINGS The lighting requirements lacking in the complex are being fulfilled with
the treatment of complex with spot lights fixed at the ground level also the intricate work of the
monuments are given indirect lightings for better emphasizing the beauty of structure.
4) INTERPRETATION CENTER For catering the issue of no literature a semi covered zone is
specified within the site which is purposely made for providing all the data regarding the
monuments and also work as a kind of information center for the tourists. The small exhibit
boards are placed near structure to give brief of the monument to the visitors.
5) PREDOMINANT PLANNING As one of the important issue was to make the complex more
dominant environment then the neighbourhood, the planning of the complex is done
metaphorically like a big pattern design on the earth. It gives a sense of attraction to the
visitors passing by.
6) ORGANIZED MANAGEMENT As for after the revitalization, the site is given tight schedules for
opening and closing also the tomb is opened from the inside for scheduled period with a
committee of mosque priests and is maintained on periodic basis.
7) NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT As a result of the development of the complex as a tourist
spot, the neighbourhood will certainly will show some degree of improvement due to frequent
visit of tourists. Respect to the monument will increase.
8) CLEAR VISIBILITY The complex is planned such that activities like trespassing of humans and
animals could easily be detected from any direction and makes the site less vulnerable for unfair
usage.
9) MAINTAINING THE SCALE The structures are given the treatment of complex with no such
element to contradict the scale and visibility of the monuments. The monumental scale of the
tombs are preserved by judicious and intellectual planning.
10) GENERATING RHYTHM The development of complex and the treatment of flowing water
channels gives an aeshtetic and physical rhythmic composition of the spaces. the workability of
the elements of design reflects the origin of the ino-islamic-gothic culture.

SHEET NO. 5 :-
DESIGN FEATURES OF THE COMPLEX :
1) WATER BODIES Fountains and ponds are placed at different locations within the complex to
give an ambience of islamic ritual of taking the souls to the paradise with the channels flowing
through the ponds. The water ponds also affects the micro-climate of the complex by
evaporative cooling effect and also creates a sense of serenity.
2) GREENSCAPES The softscapes are treated with mounds and natural grassing for proving
visitors a space to relax and rejuvenate. The small bossoms on the periphery creates an aroma
of fragrance inside the complex. The differently coloured shrubs create a sense of activeness in
the site.
3) SEATINGS/FURNITURES The furnitures provided for the sitting purpose and for relaxing are
given a sense of the ambience which the monument reflects. The intricate details add to the
beauty of the site environment.
4) INTRICATE WORK The work on the fencing is potentially done with the stone jaalis having
intricated work over it which blends with the ambience of the monuments. The interpretation
centre and the literature boards are also given the same treatments.
5) CIRCULATION The provision to cater for the crowded conditions are handled by smart
planning of the circulation with multiple approach points to the monuments. Creating less
confusion with symmetric planning.
6) VENDOR STALLS For the provision of employment generation for the neighbour slum
residents, there is a platform created on the back of the site near parking serving them as place
for settling there shops.

SHEET NO. 6 :-
FUTURE PROVISION FOR PRESERVATION AND IMPACT ON CITY GROWTH :
1) MAINTENANCE OF COMPLEXS IDENTITY For smooth functioning of the complex as a major
tourist spot of the city, periodic maintenance of the complex is crucial.
a. DISPOSAL BINS One important practice for keeping the site clean n hygenic will be
placing state-of-art dustbins on the site and shall be frequently disposed.
b. FUNGI/ALGAE REMOVAL In the case of monsoon, due to rainfall many times on the
plinth of the tombs and on boundary walls fungi develops this needed to be treated
with termite-repellants.
c. NO EATABLES ALLOWED INSIDE For keeping safe and tidy complex, all eateries are to
be prohibited within the site. This will make frequency of tourist circulation faster and
also generate some economy for outside vendors.
2) IMPACT ON CITY GROWTH
a. TOURIST INDUSTRY As many of the monuments of tourist importance in junagarh are
not very well developed complexes in such a scenario this fully developed complex will
add us to the attraction of more tourist within the city.
b. ECONOMIC SUPPORT Due to rise of such a complex and migration of more tourists,
the demand for hotels, resorts will develop giving a new shape to the city.
c. SCIENTIFIC ADVANCEMENTS Proffesionals like archaeologists, architects, designer and
scientist will be attracted and welcomed in the city with the purpose of research and
case studies. This will grow the need of local proffesionals for assissting them.
d. STATE-OF-ART COMPLEX The style of the monuments after getting some limelight will
certainly be appraised and will come out as a state-of-art monument for the future of
the city. Vendors and various local artists will refuge towards junagarh for search of
employment and opportunities.
