D. Cables & Jumpers:
Different cables Composite & Fiber only are available to connect Pigtailed HW between each
other as follows:
1. Composite Cables: 6, 12, 24 fibers, with 2, 4, 6 & 12 coppers 14AWG & 16AWG,
Indoor Armored & Plenum type.
2. Fiber Cables: 6, 12, 24,144 & 216 fibers having different types; MIC, Ribbon, Plenum
and Armored.
3. Jumpers: Duplex & Simplex jumpers having LC/APC to SC/APC & SC/APC to
SC/APC. These jumpers were modeled as Misc parts to reflect a unit item that can
be inserted separately in the design plan without the need to be connected between
two components. This is shown below

Duplex Jumpers
6ft, 2f, SC/APC to SC/APC & LC/APC to SC/APC, Riser Rated, Zipcord, Clearcurve XB SMF

DESIGN EXAMPLE OF ONE SECTOR
To illustrate the use of the Corning Cabling Systems components, we refer to the design of one
sector below:

Design of a one sector multi-carrier system

Corning parts are used to represent the connection of the BU to the remote Fiber BDA. This can
be done as follows:
1- By using two Pigtailed HW, one at the BU and the other at the fiber BDA. These two Pigtailed
HW are connected with a fiber cable having 12 fiber strands as an example. The length of the
cable is set to the length of the fiber cable that is connecting the BU to the fiber BDA unit.
2- By using one stubbed HW at the BU and a Pigtailed HW at the fiber BDA end. The Stubbed
HW should be selected having cable length larger than the length of the cable connecting the
BU with the fiber BDA unit.
3- Using the Plug & Play family; Two 12 fiber modules is used, one at the BU end and the other
at the fiber BDA end. These modules are connected through a trunk cable having a length
greater than the length of the cable connecting the BU with the fiber BDA. Housing is added
with these parts at each end.
4- To simulate the connection of the BU to the corning part, one jumper is placed to represent
this connection. The same is done for the fiber BDA end, where another jumper is placed.

The fiber cable that is connecting the BU to the fiber BDA in the design is responsible for
providing the link budget of carrying the signal from the BU to the fiber DBA. This fiber cable
should be removed from the Equipment List report if necessarly. This is done by turning the
show In report field in the cable properties from True to False. See the below screen for more
info:

CORNING COMPONENTS IBWAVE DATBASE
Corning Cabling systems are classified under corning manufacturer for the following components in
iBwave.
1- Cable parts: Composite, fiber and fixed length trunk cables.
2- Filter parts: All Pigtailed &Stubbed HW.
3- Misc: Jumpers and housing.
To facilitate the search of a corning part in iBwave, the best method is to use the component browser.
The part descriptions are classified in a way to help finding the part in question. Example for such
descriptions is shown below. Drag the specified part from the list in the components browser and add it to
the design plan.
