3.1 EXAMINATION

1. Verifythatsubfloorisstructurallysound,clean,dry,andfreeofcontaminantsthatwouldinterfere
withbondingoftheflooringadhesive(suchasconcretecuringcompounds,waxesoroils).
2. Inwoodframestructures,donotbegininstallationofbambooflooringuntilstructurehasbeen
driedout,withmoisturecontentofwoodsubfloorbetween6and10percent.

3. TestconcretefloorsformoisturevaporemissionusingaCalciumChloridetest.Donotinstall
bambooflooringifvaporpressureexceeds3lbsper1,000squarefeet(15gperm2)in24hours.
4. VerifythatHVACsystemisoperatingandmaintainingoccupancyleveltemperatureandhumidity

3.2 PREPARATION

A. Acclimatization:Openbambooflooringboxesandremovepackagingaminimum3dayspriortostartof
installation.

B. Grindandfillsubfloorusingmethodsandmaterialsappropriatetothesubfloorconstructiontoeliminate
humpsanddepressions.Forbestresults,neitherhumpsnordepressionsshallexceed1/8(3mm)ina6
foot(1830mm)radiusor3/16(4.7mm)ina10foot(3048mm)radius.

C. Cleansurfacethoroughlypriortoinstallation.

D. Duetothephysicalcharacteristicsofbamboo,itisanaturalfiber.Variationsincoloroccurnaturally.Each
boxshouldbeinspectedfordifferencesincolorandcolorvarianceshouldbestaggeredthroughoutthe
floor.

3.3 INSTALLATION
Undernormalinstallationconditions,themanufacturersinstallationinstructionsaresufficient.Unusualorunique
siteordesignconditionsmaydemandsupplementaryinformationinthisarticle.
