RBI has mandated that all the e-commerce transactions initiated with card not present scenario

should be supported with additional authentication (2FA) which should be the information not
available on the face of the card. IDBI Bank Debit Cardholders are conveniently able to use their
IDBI Bank Debit Cards for online transactions like online shopping, online booking of air, rail and
movie tickets, bill payments, etc, with additional security. The cardholder needs to necessarily
register his/her card and create a 3D secure password before carrying out an e-commerce
transaction.
In the recent past, it has been observed that during the ATM attacks, the customers Debit card
details along with the ATM PIN are being collected by the fraudsters and the same has been
used for online transactions. In order to minimize the risk of fraudulent registration and
generating new password by opting forgot password, One Time Password (OTP) as an
additional security layer has been introduced which will be sent to the cardholders registered
mobile number, to which the fraudster will not have an access and hence will reduce the risk
associated with the fraudulent e-com transactions.
