Error 2 Imbalance sensor is defective.
The idle value is outside of the limits or
the measuring value is absolutely incor-
rect. Error occurs only if an incorrect idle
value is applied for at least 3 sec.
Device does not start or brake.
The old Imbalance-recognition PCB is
still in use (cable colors at plug X 10:
white/black/red/blue).
Is the customers rotor damaged or
loaded asymmetrically?
Is the centrifuge placed on a
horizontal, stable and resonance-free
work surface?
Was the centrifuge moved and just put
into operation? If so, let the centrifuge
run at maximum speed.
Is the sensor idle value stable and
within the tolerance (670 100)?
Adjust imbalance PCB and carry out
imbalance adjustment. Replace
imbalance PCB in case of no success.
Was the imbalance PCB adjusted
correctly after being replaced or after
the motor being replaced?
Following replacement of the motor,
the PCB Imbalance or the PCB
Control, was a fresh imbalance
calibration performed?
Was the correct rotor with the correct
weighs used for an imbalance
adjustment?
Was the plug reconnected correctly to
the PCB after a repair?
Check plug X10.
Use new Imbalance-recognition PCB
from -02 onwards (cable colors at plug
X 10: White/brown/green/yellow).

W-Error 28
Load-cycle count of 100.000 reached
(from software 3.0 onwards with PCB in SMD
technology).
The warning is displayed 3 times following the
run after 98,000, 99,000 and 99,600 runs.
It appears after every run after 100,000 runs.
Notes:
The "Change rotor" message is conceived of
as a warning and provides the customer and
the service technician the opportunity to
evaluate the condition of the rotor.
Use of a rotor with load change limitation that
has exceeded the 100,000th load change is
not permitted!
It must be noted that the load change numbers
(CLyy) can only be reliably evaluated when:
1. In case of repairs the data of the
defective PCB Control has been taken
over by the new PCB Control. (Saving
does not take place in the EPROM
program, but instead only on the PCB.)
2. The load change counter has been reset
while exchanging a rotor.
3. The customer uses only a rotor of the
same type in the centrifuge.
4. The customer uses several centrifuges
and each rotor is allocated to one
centrifuge.
5. The fixed-angle rotors CL13 and 17 have
no load change limitation. It is not
necessary to discontinue operation.
Only the fixed-angle rotors CL14 and 18
and all swing-bucket rotors have a load
change limitation.
Only centrifuges equipped with the PCB
Control in SMD technology as of software
version 3.0 enable a load change number
(CLxx).).
Evaluate the load change table with
service program SE 14.
The load change numbers (CLyy) are
measured separately for each rotor
type.
Immediately discontinue operation of
the rotor if necessary, see notes.
Prior to using a new rotor, delete the
load change table for the rotor type with
service program SE 14.

Cycle program
START Program 7
This program is used for a continuous test (e.g. factory test) of the centrifuge. Always 3 runs with a
subsequent interval of 1 min are carried out. After the 4th run the interval is 10 min. The FC is switched
off after each run.
The nominal values of the run can be changed after the start of the service program (pre-setting:
nominal rotational speed of the rotor, 10 min, 4 C).
Display of the pre-set nominal values, it is possible to change them
Start cycle run
Display after each run

An individual run can be aborted by means of the STOP button. The lid can be opened during the

Imbalance calibration carried out by a service technician
START Program 10
The centrifuge determines the imbalance cut-off value of the individual rotors from all rotors in a rotor
group.
One angled rotor (W) and one swing-bucket rotor (A) must be used from each rotor group. As a
rule, this should be carried out with the standard rotors.
Exception: Use (A) Rotor A-4-81 if avaliable.
Standard rotors: Centrifuge 5804 / 5804R (W) F34-6-38 and (A) Rotor A-4-44
Standard rotors: Centrifuge 5810 / 5810R (W) F34-6-38 and (A) Rotor A-4-62
Prepare the weights: G1/G2/G3
It is possible to weigh the weights yourself using Eppendorf tubes. Filled 2.0 ml tubes (approx. 3.2 g) are
recommended. The weight of the tube must also be taken into consideration.
With swing-bucket rotors, these should be placed flat, loose and without an adapter on the bottom of
the swing-bucket. With the angled rotor F34-6-38, water should be pipetted directly into the empty
bores. MTP rotors can be loaded and then filled with one MTP each.
Procedure for imbalance calibration
1. Insert fixed-angle rotor (W). (Use the present rotor lid).
2. Call up the service program: Hold down both cursor keys and switching on the device.
Display : SE 1
3. Using the cursor key, call up SE 10
4. Insert the tube with G1.
5. Close lid. Start run: Start
6. Three calibration runs are performed automatically. The lid opens automatically.
7. Insert weight G2.
8. Close the lid and wait until three further calibration runs have been performed.
Lid opens automatically.
9. Insert weight G3. Close lid. Start run: Start (Centrifuge must show "Imbal" and switch off.)
10. Open lid: Open.
11. Remove fixed-angle rotor (W) and insert swing-bucket rotor (A).
12. Using the corresponding imbalance amounts G1, G2, G3, carry out the procedure described in
points 2. to 9
13. Switch off the device. Remove the imbalance weights and then switch on the centrifuge again as
normal.
Note:
An imbalance adjustment must be carried out every time the motor, PCB Control or PCB Imbalance is
replaced or when the rotor is inserted!
After the motor has been replacedl or when the centrifuge has not been used for a long period, it should
run for approximately five minutes at maximum speed in order to ensure
that the vibration mounts have the normal degree of hardness.

START Program 12
Close the lid
The software sets a rotational speed above the switching-off limit. If the device operates correctly, it
switches itself off when reaching the switching-off rotational speed and stops without braking.
If the device is not switched off, the run must be stopped immediately by hand!
The device must be switched off!
On switching on again the centrifuge brakes and is then again in the normal operational mode.
Overspeed cut-off:
The overspeed cut-off is about 300 1/min above the nominal speed of the rotor in use.
