Analayzing the plausability of the existence of a personal god

Let us suspend disbelief for a moment and assume that there is only a single
religion. Of the many religions throughout history that hold the belief of a
personal god, they have a few criteria that remain the same. These criteria
are what will be analyzed and sufciently disproven using scientifc evidence,
historical double blind studies, and some logical deduction.
Criteria for God
Personal god that taes an interest in the lives of the !uman species.
Listens and responds to prayer.
!as an active in"uence in the physical universe but lies outside of it.
#$istence of the soul that lives on eternally after you die.

%ou can&t disprove a negative, which is what maes this so difcult. !owever,
there is not a single instance in the entire history of humanity where anything
supernatural has been verifed. The 'uestion then becomes ( how do we
prove that god )O#* tae an interest in the lives of the human species. Let
us refer to the +,-T., study, conducted by )ue /niversity.
0, 1223 +,-T., 4+onitoring and ,ctualisation of -oetic Trainings5 66 study
conducted a three year clinical trial led by )ue /niversity comparing
intercessory prayer and +6T 4+usic, 6magery, and Touch5 therapies for 789
cardiology patients. The study is regarded as the frst time rigorous scientifc
protocols are applied on a large scale to assess the feasibility of intercessory
prayer and other healing practices. 6t produced null results and the authors
concluded, 0-either mased prayer nor +6T therapy signifcantly improved
clinical outcome after elective catheterization or percutaneous coronary
intervention.0:1;< -either study specifed if photographs were used, or if
belief levels were measured in the agents or those performing the prayers.0
There have been other studies including *T#P and the double blind study
conducted by the +ayo clinic, all with the same results. -o scientifcally
sound study on prayer has resulted in anything other than null results. This
shows us through scientifc, peer reviewed studies that prayer has no impact
whatsoever on the health and well being of people. *imilar studies have been
conducted on other religious interaction, such as communication with god,
producing the same results. The end result is that, if god is listening to
prayer, he certainly isn&t replying.
There has been no instance of a valid prediction 4i.e specifc references5
coming true. +ost prophecies in religious te$t are all self fulflling 4i.e wars
will happen5 or the 0fulfllment0 was written after the fact 4i.e =esus&
.essurection.5 This shows us two things. >irst, double blind studies have
proven many times that attempting communication with god has no e?ect.
*econd, there has been no evidence of any other communication from the
supernatural verifed, and indeed it has been verifed to be untrue.

,gain, disproving a negative is a very difcult thing to do. This one is 'uite
easy though by combining the idea of a soul with having an active in"uence
on the physical world. @e now, through science, that everything about who
you are e$ists within your brain. The very person that your friends and family
now is merely brain chemistry and neuron communication. @hen someone
su?ers brain damage, obviously their supernatural soul is untouched, but yet
they lose who they are, sometimes even losing the ability for conscious
thought 4i.e comas5.
Aecause of the fact that everything about who you are is stored in the brain,
and that damage to the brain and no damage to the soul e?ects who you are,
one is left wondering ( what is the point of the soulB @ell, according to
religion, the soul is C%O/C and lives on after your physical body dies. Aut if
that soul doesn&t actually contain who you are 4memories, personality, etc.5
then what e$actly is the purpose of itB There is none, it wouldn&t even be you
going into an after life even if it did e$ist, it would be a non concious, non
physical, entity that has nothing to do with who you are as a person.
-ow we get to the fun partD ,ssuming such an entity e$ist, it must transfer
from the physical realm to the supernatural realm. People have been
witnessed dying countless times, death has been studied about as in depth
as anything else in science, and yet we have verifably shown that, at least
with our limited instrumentation, there is no contact from an outside source
after death. To summarize, the soul is pointless but, even if it wasn&t, there is
no outside interaction from the supernatural realm upon the moment of
death.
