Opportunities in Drilling Fluids (Mud Engineering)

Sr. Drilling Fluids Engineer/Drilling Fluids Engineer
Location: Muscat, Oman

The incumbent shall manage Drilling Fluid operations at the well site. The job offers 35/35 rotation for
expatriates and 14/14 rotation for nationals.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

Direct and supervise the drilling and completion fluid preparation and testing
Test and report all mud/brine parameters utilizing API 13 B report standards
Direct, Monitor and preserve the mud/brine parameters for each well section
Advise and assist in optimal running of the rig solids control equipment. Evaluate the mud and solids control
programs and recommend ways & means to optimize use of consumables
Ensure adequate drilling fluid materials supply
Plan any alteration of the mud program (e.g. change in mud properties etc.) with the T.P & the D.E.
Ensure adherence to housekeeping & HSE standards
Supervise the recording of slurry density and supply of right kind of water for different stages during cementing
job. Monitor the displacement volumes, establish the loss rates (if any) and report volume of cement returns
after liner, plug jobs etc.
Personally supervise the loading / unloading of mud chemicals during rig moves. When new chemicals are
delivered at any location, he is to receive the same, sign the receipts and give a copy of the receipt to the D.E for
his records.
Coordinated with the driller and the mud logger for transfer or dumping of mud
During stimulation jobs he is to keep a vigil on the acid lines and report of any leaks.
Define the program for the night to the mud tester at the end of his shift duty.
Before moving to new location he should check arrangements for water supply (Brackish & DHW) and during
drilling liaise with client directly for water requirements.
SHOC cards (hazardous chemicals) to be maintained in collaboration with medic.
Report to client representative as required

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

Graduate in Science /Petroleum engineering or equivalent academic qualification with 3-5 years relevant
experience
