When you choose to use your credit union VISA for all your back-to-school shopping,
you choose the card that saves you money. And when it comes to money, who doesnt
love to save?
Choose the Card
With so many different credit cards
available, it can be hard to sift through the offers and
find the one thats just right for you. Here are a few tips to help you get started:
Pay attention to rates. If you need to transfer a balance, a 0% introductory rate is
a great way to get free money. Just remember, if you will be carrying a balance
on your card, its important to get a card that offers a low rate, even after the
introductory period has ended.
Bulk up on the rewards. If you dont carry a balance over each month, you may
benefit more in finding a card that offers reward points rather than one that features a
lower rate.
Say no to fees. With so many credit card options available, theres no reason to
settle for a card that charges annual fees or membership fees (unless you want the
additional rewards or perks one may have to offer). And you most certainly shouldnt
have to pay swipe fees, inactivity fees, or other sneaky fees.
Look for a secured credit card. If you have poor credit (or dont have any credit at
all), a secured credit card can help you start building or rebuilding your credit.
Dont rush the decision. Opening and closing credit cards until you find the right
one can hurt your credit score, so make sure youve found the right fit before you go
ahead and open a credit card account.
