HE streets of Neyland will
play host to the towns irst
carnival in seven years this
July, thanks to the hard work
of local organisers. Starting
in Honeyborough at 1pm on
Saturday, July 12, the parade will
make its way through the town,
inishing at the Athletic Club
grounds.
The carnival was last held in 2007, but
organiser Malcolm Hawkings secretary of
Neyland RAOB said this years event is set to
be a roaring return to glory, with more support
than ever before.
The parade will consist of at least six loats,
which have been prepared by local pubs and
businesses, as well as street performers and
walkers.
Leading the procession will be Carnival
Princess Cerys Evans, who was picked to
represent the town at a ceremony at Neyland
Athletic Club on Friday, June 13. Joining her will
be attendants Opel Raynor and Ellie Mai Rhead.
Local sponsorship has come from BDS
construction, Milford Haven irmAustwel,
Enviroventure, Rhyal Engineering, Neyland Golf
Society, Brian Taylor,Westcoast Charles Street,
Dragon LNG, NeylandTown Council and the
ever ready Murco Oil Reinery.
The itinerary for the day consists of a fair for
the youngsters, various acts such as dancers
and music groups, a pig roast and a refreshment
marquee.
The Carnival starts at approximately 1pm
from the usual starting place and that is
Honeyborough and we go along past the
monument and down Riverside Avenue, across
the promenade, stopping at theYacht Club for
refreshments provided by Alderwicks Ltd. and
then up the high street and into John Street and
then to the Athletic Field.This should take the
Carnival back to its original setting for more
than 20 years.
