Assignment: Portal for Engineers Club

Problem statement:

Create an online portal for engineers club based on the following specifications.

1) All users should be registered on the portal for engineers club. Users create accounts
in portal for engineers club. They can register, though their accessibility depends upon
the decision of administrator. One new user may be approved or not. There are many
types of privileges. Initially privilege type is assigned by the administrator. Later it
may be modified. Each account contains customer profile information: name, age,
geographical location, categories of interest, email. Profile information can be
updated by the club members. Members will login to the portal for engineers club
using an Account name and password. Existing user can login using their current
username.
2) Users will use a web based interface to post articles. Initially only the titles of articles
are displayed and on click other attributes are displayed.
3) Searching can be made on keywords and preferences. Result will be displayed on that
search.
4) There should separate privileges for club members, officers, bearers and
administrator. Club members should be authenticated by the officers. Privilege may
be changed by the administrator.
5) Any new post should be checked by the officers. After checking new post that should
be permitted by the officers. Then it should be displayed on the portal.
6) New links may be added by members, though it will be displayed only after
permission of administrator.
7) New announcements will be made by the administrator.
8) There should be news board on the portal. News should be announced by officers.
9) All postings data are recorded in the database with timestamp.
10) New events will be announced by the club officers.
11) All articles, news, links, announcements, events, etc can be modified.

Design tables for the above system. Create a separate view for users. Design suitable forms.
Implement authorizations. Store the functions and procedures necessary in the database itself.
The system is to be implemented using VB, ASP, SQL.

Now host this application on the web. You may use sub domains. A full interactive website
should be developed.
