SCHOOL-BASED CHILD PROTECTION AND ANTI-BULLYING POLICY

Milagros National High School

Our institution is now one of the fast progressing National High School in Milagros Masbate
with the help of our K-12 New curriculum we were able to convince parents, students to enrol
and continue their high school studies and at the same time we encourage some out of school
youth and the dropped outs to pursue their high school as Balik -Aral with the generousity
of TSAP and PLAN a non- government organization who sponsored some students with their
needs in school. Therefore our enrollment increased and we had new buildings as expansions.
Having a high increased of student population we also upgrade our policies to protect the
students from any abused and at the same time preventing bullying in our campus. We were
able to communicate with the parents through meetings regarding how to be aware of the
children regarding abused and bullying. As a matter of fact the TSAP and Plan Dubai Cares
sponsored a Roll-Out And Training On Youth Peer Education for prevention and awareness of
teen-age pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease last July 30-31 held here in our school.
We make sure and orient the parents as well as the guardians to be observant to the children at
home we let them know that a bullying or a peer abuse is considered as a wilful aggressive
behaviour that is directed towards a particular victim who maybe out- numbered , weak with
disability ,less confident or other wise vulnerable.The same thing also the parent of a bullied
child, that parents should listen to the child. Here in our school I observe only few incidents of
bullying reports. But then we make sure that the policies and the program for protecting our
students from any abuse and bullying is highly mentioned during class discussions, values
education subjects as interventions. We also conducted house visit for some students who are
having emotional problems as well as those who are planning to stop studying and will work to
help their family needs, we encourage them not to give up their studies. In our school policy
against bullying we make sure to orient the parents not to cover or defend the childs fault. As a
guidance coordinator we should very adopt in dealing with bullying. Its our responsibility to
stand as mediator between the bully and the bullied and reconcile them.
