Migrant Children at Risk

United States of America a country identified for freedom and many riches. USA is a
dream design by many Latin countries populations, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
Certain Latin societies stand awfully needy and unsafe; those countries do not provide
employment or protection to most of their residents including children. As is says on an article
written by Terrence McCoy. A 15 year old girl, said goodbye to her family on early April night,
as she headed to cross el Salvadors border, before she negotiated the dangerous road North she
will be thinking of plastic bags. She thought that like others she might end inside one. A
fraction of Mexico children feel the same way. With those reason present a large amount of
Central America and Mexican society decides to set a journey to the place they see prosperity
and refuge. Departing their countries they do not only leave their culture but also their love ones
like their families without knowing if they are going to see them again. Children considering
they are already expose to numerous risks do not think twice before placing themselves to the
violent crimes, health problems and threatening pathways adding the unwelcome of the anti-
immigrants along with many more barriers, even death.
When migrant children and their families make a decision to migrate in to the US, do
they know in whose hands are they placing themselves? Do parents and children visualize that
on their trip they will have the same hazard or worst that they have at home? The people that
bring them usually are a type of person that are cold blooded, do it just for the money and do not
care what happens to them. Some of this Coyotes which are the people that charge to cross
immigrants, or other migrants, Abuses of this children in all ways, sexually, neglect, physical
even emotional. Coyotes and other criminals knowing how important these children are to their

Mexico, 20,000 migrants, majority from Central America, are Torture, Kidnapped, abuse and
even killed by organize criminals yearly on their way across Mexico on their route North,
According to Mxicos independence National Human Rights Commission.
USA frontiers are deserted areas, with endless trails, loads of threats for example,
hazardous animals like coyotes, snakes, scorpions etc. According to Maribel Pineda a 52 year
old Honduran immigrant interviewed by Alex Pena; it was 2a.m. and they were about to rest, but
they heard the Coyotes near, so they kept walking. Pinedas group made a determination to take
a route far from Nogales, Arizona, roads away from border patrol. A group ahead of them was
tailed by Coyotes too, decided to climb the trees. A lady on that group could not climb up
because she had a baby on her arms. The Coyotes ate the lady and her baby. Pineda mention
another flash, a 5 year old that was bitten by a snake, the boy died in 5 minutes. Pineda could
not believe what she had seen.
Other chances immigrants have to take are severe hot weathers leading in to dehydration
different type of illnesses and the worst death. One illness is Hyperthermia which is reduction of
body core temperature to 95F. Scabies is another infection carried by migrants. Scabies is a skin
condition cause by mites burrowing inside the skin laying egg causing rash and it is contagious.
This excursion taken by immigrant is close to death with all the surrounding they set themselves
too. Alex Pena also mention that according to Mexicos Ministry of Foreign Affair, around 800
migrants dye yearly in the U.S. while trying to cross the border. U.S. government approximates
the numbers to be around 400. Most of the deaths are cause from, dehydration, hypothermia and
drowning in the Rio Grande canals. Although Arizona decline in flows since 2007 and increase
in Border Patrol and National Guard presence, the Tucson-based Coalition of Human Right
found that 2010 was the deadliest year for migrants, with 253 bodies found in Arizona.

If not enough with the barriers their own country, adding the war they fight with nature,
Migrants have to come in and face the rejection of the people that are native to U.S. They do not
adore the idea of having Immigrants coming in to their country. They believe migrants are one of
the reasons of lack of employment rising. They want the border patrol to increase protection now
so no more migrants will cross. ADL (Anti-Defamation League declare on an article that
unemployment rates are extremely high and if more immigrants gets documents, they will be a
competition to U.S. citizens. ADL also demanded immigration reform bills to apply and border
security needs to increase right now and not later.
Considering all of this endangers the children from Latin countries have back at home,
and still exposing themselves to more danger on their trip to America. Migrant children, need to
be admire because the courage they have to take the excursion to the USA. These children just
want to see a life that they dream away from violence that is why they do not need to be
considered as criminals. Migrant children just want prosperity and safety. Their many kids in the
United State that have everything and do not value this thinks, some of the U.S. citizen are lazy
to work and to go to school. These children do not need to be decline stability and education
going back to their country will turn them sooner or later in to criminals or will take them to
death something that is not able to be fix.
