The story Robinson Crusoe, was about survival a man who
wants to become a sailor but his misfortune drives him onto an uninhabited land where he lives for 28 years before returning back to England.
The story has three major themes that are: Relation of Man and Nature, Courage and Determination
Humans are part of Nature. Crusoe was a man who loves Nature, When he was on the island and finds himself alone with only Nature as his companion, he adapts easily. He was quick to use things from Nature to help him survive.
Robinson Crusoe was a Brave and courageous man. He shows great courage when he escapes from his Turkish master. When he was shipwrecked on a deserted island, Crusoe overcomes great obstacles to survive. He shows great courage saving his fellow beings from the Cannibals.
When compared with the themes of Old Man and the Sea, we find that Old man and the sea has three themes that are: Man and the Natural World, Pride, and Struggle
The old man was unique in his relationship to and understanding of the natural world. He talks about the sea as though it were a woman. He respects Nature, the creatures. His dream of lions shows that he was still courageous.
The Old man despite of his poverty and Old age has pride. Humility doesnt break his pride. Humility keeps the old man sound and rational in his decisions on the sea. Santiago briefly wonders if pride was a problem.
Struggle and the old man have a unique relation. The Old man meets has struggle in everything he does. He wasnt able to catch a fish for first Eighty Four days. Then once he gets a fish he struggles to catch it. Once the fish was caught, He lost it to the sharks.
Comparison of Characters
The main character of the story, he was a rebellious youth with an inexplicable desire to travel. Because of this desire, he brings misfortune on himself and was left to fend for himself in a primitive land. The novel essentially chronicles his mental and spiritual development as a result of his isolation. He was a contradictory character; at the same time he was practical ingenuity and immature decisiveness. Whereas, Santiago was an old fisherman in Cuba who, at the beginning of the book, has not caught anything for eighty-four days. Santiago endures a great struggle with an uncommonly large and noble marlin only to lose the fish to rapacious sharks on his way back to land. Despite this loss, Santiago ends the novel with his spirit undefeated.

Old man and the sea was a story of an Old and Poor man in Cuba who was unlucky and hasnt caught a fish in a long time, he struggle a lot to catch a large Marlin but was unlucky to lose it to the Sharks on his way back home. 'Robinson Crusoe' was a book written by Daniel Defoe that was first published in 1719. Robinson Crusoe was a story about a man who goes on a voyage at sea. His ship wrecks, but he was spirited about the sea and goes to sea again, where his ship was taken over and he was enslaved by pirates. He escapes them and then stars plantation in Brazil. He again goes on a voyage but his ship becomes shipwrecked on an uninhabited island. He then lives there for 28 Years and when he was rescued, He returns to England.
