Terms & Conditions : Merck Products

(1)
Prices - While the prices indicated in the price list are the maximum chargeable effective 1st April 2013, company reserves
the right to revise the prices depending upon the changing market conditions. The company in such an event, reserves the
right to invoice goods at the price, determined on the date of despatch. The prices mentioned in the price list are the
maximum and it is open to the dealers and others to sell products at prices lower than the ones indicated in the price list.
(2)
Taxes & duties - The prices mentioned in this Price List are inclusive of Excise Duty / Customs Duty whenever applicable but
exclusive of all other applicable taxes and levies. Exemption from taxes / duties can be sought by furnishing the applicable
declaration / certificate, while placing the orders. Non furnishing of these documents will result in company charging /
recovering applicable higher tax / duties.
(3)
Delivery (a) Freight - All orders of the value of ` 15000/- or more will be supplied F.O.R. destination by road transport. For goods of
the value of less than ` 15000/-, the consignment will be despatched on freight to pay basis.
(b) Availability - All efforts will be made to make the goods available on time. However, company does not take any
responsibility nor is liable for damages, delayed deliveries or non-delivery of goods on stipulated dates.
(c) Compliances - The dealers / customers / end users should comply with the local and central statutory requirements,
such as obtaining the required licences, road permits, statutory licences etc., while placing the orders as well as when
the goods are purchased / stored and used.
(d) Place of delivery - The sale may take place either from the Companys Clearing and Forwarding agents premises or
from the Companys main warehouse located at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Bulk Pack requirement - Bulk pack requirements will be treated differently for the prices, delivery and discount, depending
upon the specific requirement of the dealers / end users.
(5)
Payment - The Company formulates guidelines from time to time indicating the terms of payment i.e. on delivery or
payment after expiry of specific number of days. The dealers / customers / end users shall comply with such terms and
conditions of payment.
(6)
Amendment / Cancellation - Orders which are in writing, once placed, shall not be revoked or cancelled. So also the goods
once despatched against the confirmed order, should not be returned and the Company shall not accept such returned
goods.
(7)
Return of goods - The goods despatched, if deemed to be not as per the specifications or of quality requirements, should be
returned to the place of invoice without much delay, in any case not later than 3 weeks from the date of such claims
approved by our quality assurance department.
(8)
Insurance - The goods are packed with utmost care and forwarded at customers risk. If the customer wants the goods to
be insured, on his request, the Company will insure such goods in transit and the premium cost should be borne by the
customer.

Granulated Culture Media
A sweet solution for safety

A substantial matter
Do you take sugar with your coffee? Or with your tea? And if you do, would you
rather use sugar cubes or powdered sugar? On closer consideration, this is not only
a question of personal preference. It is also a matter of substance. The same applies
to media. As a customer, you find yourself faced with a choice between powdered
media or granulated media. It is easy to see why substance
matters here. Choosing Merck Millipores granulated media
means winning protection against the health risks of

makes handling media much easier as well.
Better safe than powdered

Routinely used culture media often contain hazardous or toxic substances. Fine, powdered media produce
extensive media dust during handling. Inhalation of these hazardous components increases the likelihood of
allergic reactions. Granulation compacts fine particles into small, uniform granules. This significantly reduces
media dust generation, dispersion, and inhalation. Consequently, the reduction in airborne particles improves the
overall health and safety of the working environment. Safely put: Granulated media are a better, safer choice
overall.

cleanly in your flask or container without

This process is a critical requirement for sterility assurance to test overall process sterility by performing a
simulated production (media fill) using microbiological growth medium, in place of actual product. Media fills are
a worst case challenge to a process, as pharmaceutical products typically do not support microbiological
growth. This has caused concern from some drug manufacturers as microbiological culture media can themselves
be a potential source of viable contamination. The production of dehydrated culture media is not a sterile process
and biological components can contribute viable contamination. An effective approach to prevent media related
contamination and eliminate the handling involved with traditional media preparation is terminal sterilization of
the dehydrated culture media by irradiation.

Chromogenic substrates have proved to be a powerful tool in the identification of microorganisms due to the
detection of specific enzymes produced by the target microorganism. These enzymes cleave the chromogenic
substrate that points up the microorganism by color differentiation of the grown bacterial colonies.
Chromogenic media offer enhanced bacterial identification over tradition culture media through colour
differentiation. The intensity and specificity of the colours of chromID media optimise microbial enumeration,
making it easy to rapidly identify bacterial colonies.
The manufacturing process for food and water often result in metabolic injury to the microorganisms and/or
reduction of microbial members. Sub lethal microbial injury is caused by chemical or heat treatment as well as
storage under frozen, dried or chilled conditions.
Traditional culture media used for the detection of coliforms/ E. coli often contain ox bile or bile salts to inhibit
Gram-positive bacteria. These strong inhibitors however may limit the growth of the targeted microorganisms
if they are already sub lethally damaged. Carefully selected inhibitors are used in manufacturing of
chromogenic media to ensure growth and recovery of these damaged microorganisms.

Merck offers Ready-to-Use culture media for all sorts of applications.On the following pages you will find an
overview of our extended range of culture media helping you to choose the right product for your needs.
In order to fulfil the requirements for protected areas (isolators & clean rooms), all Envirocheck Contact plates
for isolators and clean rooms are, triple wrapped and gamma-irradiated. The final packaging the contact
plates are packed in boxes of 2 x 10 plates, the inner bag is impermeable to H2O2 and includes a pouch
containing a drying agent to minimize the formation of condensation water.
To inactivate any residual disinfectants on the surface to be tested, the Envirocheck Contact plates for isolators
and clean rooms additionally contain 4 neutralizing agents. All plates are stored at room temperature (+15C to
+25C), hence cooling capacities wont be blocked. Storage at site of application is possible.
Product name, expiry date, lot number and serial production number are imprinted on each Envirocheck
Contact plate for safe and easy product identification and shelf life monitoring.

Food Pathogen Testing

Screening for the presence of pathogens in food products by conventional reference methods is timeconsuming and labour-intensive. It usually involves a 3-step technique: non-selective pre-enrichment (1824h), selective enrichment in two different selective broth media (24-48h) followed by plating on two
different selective/indicative agars (24-48h). The whole procedure takes a total of up to 5 days to get a simple
yes/no result.
Immunological tests are the preferred choice among users of rapid tests. Merck Millipore's Singlepath and
Duopath Lateral Flow Tests are immunoassays for detecting pathogens with the ultimate convenience.
Covering the major pathogens, the tests act as mini-laboratories in the pregnancy test format and always

A biological indicator can be used to assist in the performance qualification of the sterilization equipment
and in the development and establishment of a validated sterilization process for a particular article.
Biological indicators are used in processes that render a product sterile in its final package or container, as
well as for the sterilization of equipment, materials, and packaging components used in aseptic processing.
Biological indicators may also be used to monitor established sterilization cycles and in periodic revalidation
of sterilization processes. Biological indicators may also be used to evaluate the capability of processes used
to decontaminate isolators or aseptic clean-room environments.
The Sterikon plus Bioindicator consists of an ampule that contains a nutrient broth, sugar, a pH indicator and
spores of a non-pahogenic organism, Geobacillus stearothermophilus ATCC 7953 (sporulation optimized).
The thermal resistance is such that the spores are completely killed after 15 minutes, when heated in
compressed steam at a temperature of 121 0.5C (245 kPa). At lower temperatures or lower exposure
times a small number of spores can survive and are capable of growing. This can be detected by incubating
the ampoules at 60 C 2 C for 48 hours. Sterikon plus is recommended for routine autoclave monitoring
for sterilization efficiency.

MAS 100 NT - Perfect Design, Precise Measurements
When a sterile pharmaceutical product is manufactured in a controlled area or cleanroom, an accurate
measurement of the bioburden (viable bacteria, yeast, moulds and spores) is essential. Alert and action levels
need to be appropriate to the classification of the area. The air quality adjacent to critical areas is the most
significant indication of a products contamination risk.
Active air sampling entails that air in a cleanroom is sampled kinetically during a manufacturing process. This
is done continuously in a controlled way by counting the number of viable or living organisms per cubic metre
of air. Passive sampling, however, is used to measure organisms which have dropped onto surfaces. This is
assessed by other means (settle plates and contact plates).
The MAS-100 NT serves to measure the micro organisms in clean rooms and sterile environments especially in
pharmaceutical companies and hygienically highly sensible areas. The use of Standard 90-100mm Petri
dishes, the integrated mass-flow sensor and the handiness of this air sampler are unique on the market. A PCinterface permits the program to calibrate and read data from the air sampler.

MAS 100 Eco - Simple & Economic Solution
Good hygiene, cleaning and disinfection procedures should ensure that the food processing environment is free
from unacceptable levels of microbial contaminants. However, we cannot be sure that these measures are
effective just by looking. The measurement of microbial cleanliness goes beyond what can be seen by the naked
eye. There are a number of ways in which the food processing environment can be monitored to ensure that the
highest standards of cleanliness are maintained.
The MAS-100 Eco is an air sampler that is based on the impaction principle. The resulting airflow is directed
onto a standard Petri dish containing agar. After the collection cycle, the Petri dish needs to be incubated and
the colonies are counted. Final reporting is done by CFU count obtained using Fehlers table.

Membrane filtration is the standard test method for microbial contamination, complying with international
standards such as Standard Methods for Examination of Water and Waste Water, US EPA, and EU testing
procedures for drinking water.
The test sample is filtered through a microporous membrane, allowing the retention of any microbial
contamination on top of the membrane. Rinsing removes residual product that might inhibit the growth of
microorganisms.
Once the sample is filtered, nutrient medium is added to promote growth of microorganisms for recovery.

Reaction requires active microbial metabolism for enzymatic cleavage of a non-fluorescent substrate. Once
cleaved inside the cell, the substrate liberates free fluorochrome into the microorganism cytoplasm. As
fluorochrome accumulates inside the cells, the signal is naturally amplified. The cells are then exposed to the

SteritestTM Equinox
Sterility Testing Pump

Fast and reliable sterility testing transfer system
Designed for use with Steritest TM EZ devices, the automatic pump head makes it easy to load and unload
Steritest TM EZ tubing, eliminating the risk of pinched or damaged gloves.
A Build - in timer to control the time, enables analyst to preset the time required for products filtration. This
is critical for products exposed to the environment where there is a risk of introducing non- sterile air into the
canisters and generating false positives.
A pressure control system constantly monitors the pressures inside both Steritest TM EZ canisters ensuring
that the system is running within acceptable limits at all times. An alarm informs the operators of any
pressure increase above specifications.
An external foot switch can be used to set the pump to either continuous or two-way operation mode.
Repeatable procedures
Using a computer, standard operating procedure (SOPs) can be developed and
then loaded onto the SteritestTM Equinox pump. In the SOP mode, the analyst
simply selects the appropriate SOP for the test sample from the SteritestTM
Equinox control panel. The SteritestTM Equinox pump will walk the analyst
through each step, improving repeatability and reliability

SteritestTM Equinox Isofit pump for Isolators

The Isofit version of the Steritest Equinox pump family features a low profile ,
which improves the ergonomic fit in isolators. The lower profile maximizes the
work area within the isolator allowing for greater efficiency. The patented
connection design of the isolator work table reduces the height of the Steritest
Equinox Isofit pump by 10 cm (4 in) compared to the Steritest Equinox pump for
isolators.
The innovative hardware design and control software offer an easy to use,
intelligent system for optimizing productivity and performance.
Ergonomic Design Ergonomically designed for easy operation and cleaning, the
Steritest Equinox pump fits in class A /ISO5 laminar flow hoods and isolators. Its
unique profile prevents undesirable turbulence in the area where handling is
performed, eliminating the risk of false positives. The drain tray and the stainless
steel surface of the pump, pump head and bottle holder are easily cleaned using

Soybean-Casein Digest Medium (Trypcase Soy Broth)

suitable for the culture of both fungi and aerobic bacteria.
This medium is used for sterility testing by membrane
filtration or by direct inoculation. It is also used as preenrichment broth for non-sterile products. Compliant with
the USP, EP and JP.
Clear Thioglycollate Medium has the same

growth promotion properties as the standard
FTM and is compliant with the USP, EP and JP.
The alternative formulation brings extra visual
clarity versus the FTM, which has a slight
turbidity or haze. A high visual clarity medium is
preferred by many users when compared with
the hazy or opalescent appearance of FTM.

Sterility Testing of Filterable

Membrane Filtration Sterility test
This is a regulatory method of choice for filterable pharmaceutical products. The test is particularly suitable for
samples containing preservatives, bacteriostatic or fungistatic compounds, which inhibit microbial growth of
potential contaminants. With membrane filtrations, microorganisms are retained by a 0.45 micron pore size filter
and all inhibiting compounds are rinsed using a suitable rinse solution. Appropriate media, which are selected,
based upon their ability to support the growth of anaerobic and aerobic microorganisms, are then transferred to
the membrane filters. A 14 day incubation period is required to obtain final test result.

No single sterility testing platform can efficiently and reliably accommodate today's enormous variety of drugs,
delivery systems and packages. That's why the Steritest product line includes hardware, a diverse selection of
membranes, canisters, adapters and accessories, as well as sterile media and rinse fluids. Each Steritest EZ
device is subjected to rigorous in-process and release quality checks including 100% membrane and canister
integrity tests as well as intense physical and microbiological testing.
Minimize false positives

Closed Steritest EZ filtration units reduce the risk of false positive
results to avoid costly investigation and possible batch loss. The
entire testing process, from aliquoting to reading, is never exposed
to the environment. There are no open containers or membrane
manipulations, which could increase the risk of adventitious
contamination.
Steritest EZ filtration units are the right answer to the danger

that false negative results pose to patients. Through specific
membranes, unique sealing technology and optimized device
design, the unit allows efficient elimination of bacteriostatic,
fungistatic or bactericidal agents present in the pharmaceutical

Prices - While the prices indicated in the price list are the maximum chargeable effective 1st April 2014, company reserves
the right to revise the prices depending upon the changing market conditions. The company in such an event, reserves the
right to invoice goods at the price, determined on the date of despatch. The prices mentioned in the price list are the
maximum and it is open to the dealers and others to sell products at prices lower than the ones indicated in the price list.
(2)
Taxes & duties - The prices mentioned in this Price List are inclusive of Excise Duty / Customs Duty whenever applicable
but exclusive of all other applicable taxes and levies. Exemption from taxes / duties can be sought by furnishing the
applicable declaration / certificate, while placing the orders. Non furnishing of these documents will result in company
charging / recovering applicable higher tax / duties.
(3)
Delivery (a) Freight - All orders of the value of ` 30000/- or more will be supplied F.O.R. destination by road transport or goods
train. For goods of the value of less than ` 30000/-, the consignment will be despatched on freight to pay basis.
(b) Availability - All efforts will be made to make the goods available on time. However, company does not take any
responsibility nor is liable for damages, delayed deliveries or non-delivery of goods on stipulated dates.
(c) Compliances - The dealers / customers / end users should comply with the local and central statutory requirements,
such as obtaining the required licences, road permits, statutory licences etc., while placing the orders as well as when
the goods are purchased / stored and used.
(d) Place of delivery - The sale may take place either from the Companys Clearing and Forwarding agents premises or
from the Companys main warehouse located at Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

Bulk Pack requirement - Bulk pack requirements will be treated differently for the prices, delivery and discount,
depending upon the specific requirement of the dealers / end users.
(5)
Payment - The Company formulates guidelines from time to time indicating the terms of payment i.e. on delivery or
payment after expiry of specific number of days. The dealers / customers / end users shall comply with such terms and
conditions of payment.
(6)
Amendment / Cancellation - Orders which are in writing, once placed, shall not be revoked or cancelled. So also the goods
once despatched against the confirmed order, should not be returned and the Company shall not accept such returned
goods.
(7)
Return of goods - The goods despatched, if deemed to be not as per the specifications or of quality requirements, should
be returned to the place of invoice without much delay, in any case not later than 3 weeks from the date of such claims
approved by our quality assurance department.
(8)
Insurance - The goods are packed with utmost care and forwarded at customers risk. If the customer wants the goods to
be insured, on his request, the Company will insure such goods in transit and the premium cost should be borne by the
customer.

Liquid Media for Sterility Test
heipha & HYCON
Although international pharmacopoeias recommend using standard membrane filtration for sterility
testing, there are certain products that are not filterable or deformable. These products are normally tested
using direct inoculations. In this method, the test sample is added directly into the required media ensuring
that the amount of sample is below 10 % of the total media volume.
To comply with different requirement, we offer sterility test media in various volumes, from 09 mL tubes to
750 mL bottles.
