JMC Job Search Tips (Simple Things pt 88…)

Top 10 Holiday Networking Tips…
Keeping with the theme of this special issue, here’s my annual list of ways to take advantage of
seasonal networking opportunities:

1. Attend as many holiday and seasonal gatherings as you can.

2. Be prepared with a short sweet answer to “Tell me about yourself”.
3. Know what you’re interested in doing as a next job.
4. Keep your resume up to date and available.
5. Don’t be afraid to talk about your job needs but keep it positive.
6. Host an inexpensive gathering of contacts: friends, relatives, and colleagues.
7. Call, visit, email or write lost-touch friends and family members.
8. Use your seasonal and/or holiday card list as a great networking tool.
9. Volunteer to help the less fortunate.
10. Visit the LHH office often for networking…

3
The bottom line is always about networking and this time of year represents the most receptive
attitude of people everywhere so take full advantage of that fact and don’t forget to help someone
else along the way. You just never know how it will be paid forward… Happy Holidays!
