INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT 1: RESEARCH ESSAY
(WEB TECHNOLOGY WITH EDUCATION )

Introduction

Now a days, web 2.0 is providing more beneficial comparing with the early web1.0. As
we know that, in the early web1.0. People used to provide information and lack of
communication, which is interactive to each other by now. It is because of web 2.0.
People can collaborate and giving feedback for everyone. People are using it on working
and studying. Web technology now a days, usually we use for sharing the idea, for
example like the social network Facebook, Twitter . And the e-learning system like
Schoology, Moodle and also the art base which is the Deviantart are much more
convenience for the web users by now.

How the web technology with education works by now. In the generation Y , they living
with the electronic stuff like tablets, e-books and also the smartphone. But without the
education in web technology, students cannot learn rapidly in their education. In the past,
the education was usually teacher said, and students follow or adult carrying their
children with the interactive with education to provide their children gain the knowledge
and skill in the school lesson, but by now we have to use the new method, which is not
only providing information but also have to let the students freedom of study.

In this research, basically we will more focus on how the education web technology
giving potential benefit for young learner to study more easily. We will more see through
this kind of method. Internet providing many learning sources for young learner, they can
easily searching what subject or stuff they like for example like Facebook providing
visual communication study platform tutorial for learner easily more focus on study their
stuff, maybe could be a place for education learning or the Wikipedia that most of people
said that is no good for the academic use? So does the technology today really make the
learner more better? And the last hows the e-learning system now a days work? Does it
really high efficiency for the mentors and mentees to do the education learning activities
platform?


2.0Method of Literature Selection

According the researcher of Mchichi, Tarik and Karim Afdel, that how they using the
web2.0 tools in teaching at Ibnou Zohr University. They aim to contribute the education
platform to give the friendly environment for the lecturer and students can use the
multimedia content in the social web e-learning. (Mchichi, Tarik and Karim Afdel 2012,
p13) . We can see that how the learning management system can work efficiency for the
teachers and students. They using the Moodle which is the Learning Management system
and with the schoology, youtube, google docs and flickr combine use together. So they
found that web 2.0 can facilitate the communication and the English learning. Also it is
very low cost and easy to use. The more important is teacher can track students activity
and the statistic of the course.


Furthermore,According the researcher of Pamela Pollara,and Jie Zhu, Social networking
and education study which is using Facebook as an education space for the mentors and
mentees. They said that using the social networking for education is still being debated
and their paper explore that the high school science-mentoring program result on how
affected the relationship between mentors and mentees when using the social network for
the education purposes. (Pamela Pollara,and Jie Zhu 2011). It shows that students usually
will spend time to communicating with someone have already built relationships with in
the reality. But in the others way we can found that teacher response to the students
question and they willing to answer. Beside that, they also ask questions about the
research procedures and lecturer and students easy to share URL about the research.
Sometimes students will post the non related project comments on it too. And in the
result , most students believe that they learned more because of using the group page
which is helpful in achieving their goals for their project.


And another journal,According the researcher of Martin Ebner, Jrgen Zechner,and
Andreas Holzinger, Wikipedia is so successful in establishing the principles in higher
education. They said that Wikipedia is a free encyclopedia in multiple language within a
higher education lecture some preconditions must be met. It is because of this, a critical
mass high quality articles write by any people to collaborate the database can readily
available to overcome or to shorten the lurking phase.( Martin Ebner, Jrgen
Zechner,and Andreas Holzinger2006).



Content

In my opinion, the Learning Management system that we know is very good for teachers
and students. It is because it save time also without travel to others places to have the
information that teacher given. Also because of using the web2.0 students can work good
on it in group assignment. Students can easily to get the information about the assignment
and also can leave a comment about some learning problem. Beside that, researcher have
found that teacher can easily to manage the notes and assignment brief also its easy for
teacher to track each students activity. For example to know the total hits of the post.

Secondly, researcher found that using facebook as and education space is way easier to
interactive with the students by using the group page. It is because of the students will
much more active in facebook compare with others social network. Therefore teachers
and students can get the notices of their posted in a very short period. Also teachers and
students can easily got the feedback by others members. They might much more willing
to share the feeling and work in the comminuty. The only thing is bad is if the teacher
post something into facebook group page for long time, sometimes it is hard to find back
the sources.

And the lastly, many people said that Wikipedia is not acceptable for the scholarly
sources. Maybe is because of the everyone can edit the article. I think sometimes it is, but
for the primary research it could be the better choice to have some topic understanding.
They have provide the cite information and we can find more deeply information after
searching in wikipedia. Beside that, the article is not that easy to edit base on the
ClueBotNg system they have. Its to prevent the vandalism issues. And the another one
is ,their selling point is everyone can collaborate with managing the article. Therefore the
article might change in anytime if the researcher have a good resource to prove their
writing.





Conclusion
As the conclusion, using web technology to do the education is much more effective
compare with traditional method. However the the social relationship with face to face is
much more important also. Therefore, the combination of web technology with the
traditional education method is the way to educate students now a days.

Also using web2.0 is save time for anyone. Sometimes it is hard because of a week we
might only have once class to interact with lecturer, but until now we can easily to
communicate with students and lectuer to sharing the idea and learning.

Lastly, because of the interactive method. Students will much more independence to find
the learning material on web, so they can improve their skill rapidly.
