Study in Germany

Germany is the largest European national economy. Located in central Europe, it is bordered to the
north by the North Sea, Denmark, and the Baltic Sea; to the south by Austria and Switzerland; to the
east by Poland and the Czech Republic and to the west by France, Luxembourg, Belgium and the
Netherlands. Germany also encompasses a section of the Alps Mountains, the famous Rhine and
Danube rivers, and the Black Forest into its borders. Its capital is Berlin.
Germany is the fourth-largest by nominal GDP economy in the world, and fifth by GDP (PPP) in 2008.
Since the age of industrialization, the country has been a driver, innovator, and beneficiary of an
ever more globalised economy. Germany is the world's third largest exporter with $1.408 trillion
exported in 2011 (Euro zone countries are included). Exports account for more than one-third of
national output.
About 70% of the entire GDP is contributed by the service sector; industries cover 29.1% and
agriculture 0.9%. Engineering products like automobiles, machinery, metals, and chemical goods etc,
make up most of the products of the country. Also popular as the worlds leading producer of Wind
turbines and solar power technology; The Federal Republic of Germany is a member state of the
United Nations, NATO, the G8 and the G4 nations. It is also a founding member of the European
Union and EU's most economically powerful and populous state member.
German Education System
Germany's higher education system is characterized by particular variety and versatility. Germany
has a variety of degrees and courses - practice-focused universities of applied sciences; classical
university training; internationally-renowned vocational academies; etc. Universities and Colleges
are located in cities as well as countrysides; to grant you options to select from.
Germany has a long tradition in education, science and research. As per 2001, there are 349 higher
education institutions and almost 350 state-maintained and a number of privately maintained higher
education institutes located throughout Germany. Those interested in studying in Germany can
choose between universities and university-status institutions, such as the technical universities, or
the universities of applied sciences, or the colleges of art, music and film. All state-maintained higher
education institutions are open to students of all nations.
