1. PURPOSE
The purpose o+ this document is to de+ine the procedures +or "ite Preparation at
CO!PRE""ION "T#TION PRO6ECT "COPE
The scope work includes:
Site clearance
Site Stripping
Ecavation !or !oundations" drainage and service trenches as necessar#
Placing and co$paction o! !illing
%or$ation o! &und walls and e$&ank$ents
Reinstate$ent o! !inish sur!aces.
2. RESPONSIBILITIES
It is the overall responsi&ilit# o! the Su& 'ontractor to organi(e resources to per!or$
construction activities as per pro)ect speci!ication" in co$pliance with *ualit#"
schedule and sa!et# re*uire$ents.

5. PROCEDURE
5.1 SITE CLEARANCE
3.4.4 Site 'learance includes gru&&ing up and re$oval !ro$ Site o! sur!ace
o&structions and unsuita&le $aterials such as de&ris" ru&&le" gates" !ences" etc.
3.4.5 -ll surplus ecavated $aterial and de&ris !ro$ de$olition work shall &e
re$oved !ro$ the Site as the work progresses and shall &e disposed o!! in an
approved $anner.

5.2STRIPPING
3.5.4 Prior to ecavating and6or rough grading in the 7ork area" all organic top
soil shall &e stripped and stockpiled.
5.3 EXCAVATION
3.8.4 -ll ecavation" spoil disposal" pu$ping arrange$ents and $ethods o!
supporting ecavation or angles o! side slopes !or open cuts to &e done as
per the approved plan.
3.8.5 -ll necessar# sa!et# protection around the ecavations and all necessar#
$eans o! access thereto should &e provided. -ll earthworks shall &e
protected against da$age !ro$ an# cause.
3.8.8 -ll coordinates and levels to &e set as per relevant construction drawings.
3.8.9 -ll ecavation shall &e carried out to the widths" lengths and depths shown
on the drawings.
3.8.3 -n# 0nsuita&le ,aterial encountered at the !inal sur!ace level shall &e
re$oved and the ecavations &ack!illed with concrete or Suita&le ,aterial.
3.8.: In the event o! an# over;ecavation such ecavation shall &e !illed with
concrete or Suita&le ,aterial. Precautions shall &e taken to prevent over;
ecavation and over &reak.
3.8.< Tri$$ing o! rock !or$ations shall &e carried out as near as possi&le to the
re*uired levels.
3.8.= -ll loose $aterial shall &e re$oved !ro$ rock !or$ations &e!ore covering
with per$anent work. Rock !aces shall &e tri$$ed as near as possi&le to
the re*uired pro!iles and all loose rock re$oved or otherwise prevented
!ro$ !alling onto working areas &elow.
3.8.> -ll ecavations shall &e kept !ree o! water at all ti$es until co$pletion o!
construction and &ack!illing o! the ecavations.
3.8.4? -ll necessar# arrange$ent such as pu$ping" te$porar# drains" cuts and
su$ps as $a# &e necessar# !or this purpose. -ll such cuts and su$ps
shall &e &ack!illed with concrete or other Suita&le ,aterial.
3.8.44 7ater pu$ped !ro$ ecavations shall &e directed either onto the ad)oining
ground without causing da$age or into an ad)acent per$anent6te$porar#
drainage s#ste$. -de*uate precautions shall &e taken to ensure that
eisting drainage s#ste$s are protected !ro$ &lockage &# the ingress o!
$aterials.
3.8.45 -ll !or$ations and ecavations are su&)ect to inspection and approval as
per the relevant ITP.
3.8.48 Surplus ecavated $aterial o&tained during ecavations shall &e re$oved
!ro$ the Site and du$ped at locations approved &# the ,ain 'ontractor.

3.8.49 I! an# under ground services are detected the sa$e will &e eposed &#
hand digging. -de*uate protection and warning !or the eisting services will
&e ensuring.
3.8.43 Ecavated $aterial" which is !ree !ro$ organic $atter or &oulders" $a# &e
used !or !ill. The additional $aterial re*uired !or !ill shall &e supplied !ro$
approved &orrow;pits.
3.8.4: Du$ping o! unsuita&le $aterial will &e done to disposal point and $aterial
!it !or &ack!illing will &e piled separatel# at a suita&le location.
3.8.4< I! there are chances o! sliding" the sides o! ecavation shall &e sloped.
3.8.4= The &otto$ o! all ecavated areas shall &e tri$$ed" leveled and ra$$ed.
3.8.4> 7hile ecavation is in progress" levels will &e continuousl# $onitored and
checked to avoid over ecavation.
3.8.5? The lines and levels $ust &e checked upon co$pletion o! ecavation.
3.8.54 %or Pipe Trenches" the width o! trenches shall &e ade*uate to per$it the
satis!actor# la#ing and )ointing o! pipes and shall generall# allow !or a
$ini$u$ clearance o! 43?$$ &etween the outside o! the pipe &arrel and
the !ace o! the trench or ti$&ering.
5.4 BACKFILLING
3.9.4 Earthwork $aterial shall &e o&tained !ro$ approved o!! Site sources" or &#
uni!or$l# scraping o!! $aterial !ro$ the land &etween the Site and propert#
peri$eter i! approved &# 'o$pan#.
3.9.5 @ack!ill $aterial will &e placed in la#ers with co$paction according to the
Pro)ect Speci!ication.
3.9.8 'lods or lu$ps shall &e &roken up and $ied &# &lading" harrowing or
si$ilar $ethods until a la#er o! uni!or$ densit# are o&tained. Each la#er o!
$aterial shall &e uni!or$ as to $aterial" densit# and $oisture content
&e!ore &eginning co$paction. %ill $aterial containing ecessive or
insu!!icient $oisture shall &e &rought to the proper $oisture content prior to
rolling to achieve the speci!ied co$pacted densit#.
3.9.9 Aenerall# co$paction will &e done &# rollers6plate co$pactors.
3.9.3 'o$paction shall &e to at least >3B o! the $ai$u$ dr# densit# !or
structural !ill under the !oundations" e$&ank$ents" d#kes" tank $ounds
and as indicated on the drawings while >?B !or general !ill as deter$ined
&# the ,odi!ied Proctor Test.
3.9.: Each &ack!ill la#er will &e tested &# approved test la&orator#.
3.9.< -ll accepta&le test result will allow the net la#er o! &ack!ill to &e placed
and co$pacted.
3.9.= This process will continue until the structure is co$pletel# &ack!illed

6. INSPECTION
:.4 Su& 'ontractor Q' tea$ shall ensure that all the relevant work is carried out in
con!or$ance with Pro)ect Speci!ication" PQP and ITP.
:.5 Su& 'ontractor shall inspect the lines and levels upon co$pletion o! ecavation"
and will get the surve# inspected &# the ,ain 'ontractor prior to the release o!
area !or su&se*uent activities.
:.8 Each la#er shall &e tested &# appropriate !ield test approved &# the ,ain
'ontractor &e!ore proceeding to the net la#er.
:.9 The in situ densit# o! the co$pacted soil shall &e $easured according to the
pro)ect speci!ication.
:.3 The co$paction acceptance value shall &e in accordance with the Pro)ect
Speci!ication.
:.: -n accepta&le test result will allow the net la#er o! &ack!ill to &e placed and
co$pacted.
7. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
-ll personnel involved will use necessar# PPE as re*uired.
The workers will $ade aware o! the sa!et# re*uire$ents related to this activit#
through dail# tool&o and sa!et# talk.
-ll re*uired work per$its will &e ac*uired.
,ain 'ontractor C/SED will inspect all e*uip$ent prior to use.
