English Classroom Rules
1. Always be respectful and courteous in and out of the classroom. Misbehavior or
bullying is not tolerated.

2. Respond in a courteous manner to an adult when spoken to.

3. Make eye contact when spoken to.

4. Respect other students comments, opinions, and ideas.

5. Words have an incredible power and should be used correctly and purposely.
Unacceptable or bad language such as curses and nicknames are not to be used in
the classroom.

6. Do not show disrespect with gestures.

7. Students must follow the schools dress code before entering the classroom if not
they will not be allowed entrance.

8. Cellphones, tablets, or music devices are not to be used during the class unless
specified by the teacher. All electronic devices used in class without authorization
will be confiscated until a parent comes to the school to claim it.

9. We are responsible for keeping the classroom in order. Please verify your seating
area before class starts to keep it clean for all of us. You will be responsible of
your area. Any damage to school property is unacceptable. Please inform the
teacher if there is any damage to school and/or classroom property as soon as you
see it so that it can be repaired.

10. The student is responsible for his or her own materials. The teacher is not
responsible for any materials left behind in the classroom.

11. The student must be present in the classroom on time. Any material that is
discussed before the student arrives is the students responsibility to make up after
class.

12. The student must have all the class material in the classroom and ready to be used
as soon as class starts. Be sure to make the necessary arrangements before class.

13. The students will have all class materials (textbooks, notebooks, pencil, eraser,
dictionary, or others) with them when they enter the classroom. They will not be
allowed to go outside of the classroom to look for materials, including homework.

14. Pay careful attention to the instructions given in class. If you have doubts please
feel free to ask for clarification.

15. Students must have a Spanish-English dictionary with them everyday in class.
The students are encouraged to use the dictionary in class. Please do not bring a
computerized translator or ask to use your cell phone as translator. Use your
dictionaries.

16. Students will only be able to use black or blue ink pens or pencil. Work done in
unacceptable inks will not be corrected or scored.

17. Follow along when we read together in class.

18. When homework is assigned, do not moan or complain.

19. When a substitute teacher present, all class rules still apply.

20. Do not stare or laugh at a student who is being reprimanded.

21. If someone drops something and you are close to it, pick it up.

22. During an assembly, do not speak or call out to friends.

23. Late Homework is unacceptable. But we all make mistakes. The teacher will only
accept late homework if it is processed.

24. Late Homework Processing- If the students wishes to hand in late homework, he
or she needs to ask the teacher for permission. The teacher will fill out a
permission slip for late homework that needs to be completed by the students
parents with their signature. The points to be subtracted for being late will be
included in the permission slip. The teacher will not take off more than 50% of
the total of the homework.

The student has only one more day to hand in the homework at the hour of the
class no later. The student will have to sign in the late homework notebook as he
or she hands it in. Those who do not comply will not be able to hand in such
homework and forfeits their chance.

25. Late Homework Recurrence- The students are only allowed to hand in late
homework twice in a semester. The student who is a repeat offender will not be
allowed to hand in anymore late homework.

26. Exams may not be taken before or after the set date unless it is a medical
emergency. The student must be present to take the exam the day and the hour of
the exam.

27. Students will only use pencil to answer exams.

28. If the student is absent, he or she is responsible for the class material.

29. The teacher will only give two replacement exams (Examen de Reposicin) per
semester and cannot coincide in the same trimester. Absences during exams must
have a proper and acceptable excuse.

30. Quizzes can and will be unannounced and at the teachers discretion. Always be
prepared for the unexpected.

31. This is an English class; therefore everyone must speak and write in English. You
may speak Spanish in Spanish class not in the English classroom. If you have any
doubts feel free to ask the teacher.

32. The students will be given a rubric (standards of evaluation) for special
homework, essays, oral reports, etc., which the student is responsible of keeping
for their record. They shall not be evaluated differently from the rubrics that they
will have before time.

33. All the rules in the Student Code of Conduct Book of the school are to be
followed.

34. Stand up for what you believe.

35. Live so that you will never have regrets.

36. Learn from your mistakes and move on.

37. No matter the circumstances, always be honest.

38. Be the best person you can be.
