Reflective Essay

First of all, I and my two partners Chin Yoke Ling and Cheong Huey Yin have
been trying to search for information and research about any topic of current issues
via several sources such as online, newspaper and so on. But it has been just a
tough work since not every article suite with the topic that stated in project paper.
Several current issues that we have chosen are either too complicated for us to
understand those articles or quite hard to make my classmates understand. After
some time, we decided to use current issues about the effect of playing video games.
In the process of preparing information, I have plenty of discussion with my partners.
They are very helpful and kind to help me if I facing any problems.
Through the internet, I know that forum is a public problem-identification and
problem-solving session. Citizens discuss important issues such as health problems.
During the process of a forum, a moderator led a discussion of various aspects of the
issue like the title The Effect of Playing Video Games and its potential problems. In
the forum that my group conduct, I act as a counsellor from University Malaya, my
group member Chin Yoke Ling act as Deputy Director of Health Department and
Cheong Huey Yin act as parents representative while Erica Lee Shin Yee become
my groups forum moderator.
In addition, forum needs to designate a discussion leader or group facilitator
who is known and respected, who is neutral on the topic, who has good listening and
group process skills, and who can keep things moving and on track. Because we are
not an official forum, therefore we just act as those known person. This help us learn
about how to giving information in proper way. When we conducting our forum, I
found out that my English still not as fluency as most of my classmates. This must
keep it in my mind for further improvement. Because nowadays, most of the priority
subject are conduct in English. The only way to let me understand those certain
subjects, I need to improve my English Language and speak English as possible.
Throughout the forum, I learnt that in the forum we should allowing some time
for addressing each of the following topics such as issues and concerns; barriers and
resistance to addressing the issues and concerns, community resources for change
and the recommendation for alternatives and solutions. During 20 minutes of
conducting forum and question and answer session, we provide relevance
information according to the current issues that my group choose, which The Effect
of Playing Video Games is. Although some of the information dont have realistic
statistic, I and my partners need to double confirm the related information for
avoiding the same problem in the fore coming forum conducting.
As a conclusion, I have learned a lot of things in this project such as finding
articles from various sources, techniques to conduct a forum and techniques to give
out related information. After conducting the forum, I understood the information in
the articles, I found that my knowledge towards the effect of playing video games has
been increased. Lastly, I also learned the way of having a nice discussion with my
friends and lecturer.
