One out of four core values that is most critical in my opinion for SCG is dedication to excellence. I, as
engineering management student saw excellence means quality and that is how we make our business
sustainable. Thus, Company who encourage the people at the business with excellence value will always
growing in personality, knowledge, and working attitude.
Excellence value can be derived to some supporting value such as being the best, being the better than
before, zero complain, and zero accidents. In our mind, if we heard these excellence values somehow
we got the positive spirit and optimism. SCG as one of market leaders in Cement-Building Materials,
Chemicals, and Pulp-Paper must have excellence in it performance. It is shown by the good corporation
system, investing in employer capability improvisation, developing market and sales, and of course
concerning the new science and technology of core business.
Excellent performance is realized by quality process within what has been mentioned above to its
optimum level. In case of the new science and technology of the core business, it is the company policy
reflects how company treasures its core business. The investment in the product research and
development could give company a bargaining position in the business and markets, conducting not
only product development but also basic research which increasing the possibilities in finding new
formula of better product configuration. If company succeed having the original findings and has good
patent policy and knowledge management, company jump several years further than other competitors.
To achieve that, long term strategy and dedication is a must.
There is many kind of knowledge and technology management developed by experts. In fact, many
corporations missed from its target because there is lack of consistency and dedication. Even though
above paper there is clear mentioned to invest wisely in research and development plus appropriate
technology for the manufacturing, in the ongoing practices there is financial game that swap the initial
budget into marketing for the sake of increasing sales and market coverage. If we look back to SCG core
value, especially the dedication to excellence value, we might reassure our self that knowledge and
technology is the main part of the company core value, not the market. The expanding market coverage
is the effect of the company attraction point which is quality products that can penetrate anywhere. I
am sure that knowledge and technology value is already becoming one with excellence terms in SCG
glossary, that is why this company can survive back hundred years before and another hundred years
after. Dedication is walk the talk, stick to initial plans and principals, therefore dedication to excellence is
fully understood what company actually describing the excellence and realizing the strategic plan full
heartedly.

I am really interested in this program. I want to reassure you about myself and why you should consider
me to be chosen in this internship program:
1. I am trustful person. I receive many responsibilities because I am willingly and reliable,
struggling to be an useful person for my surroundings while increasing my capability by gaining
as much experience as I could. I am known between my friends and junior for giving suggestion
of how thing should be done, usually about the international studies, student activity ideas, and
engineering management tools with the contingency of usage condition. Sometimes I am
pointed as leader in a group while in other chance I am just being a backstage man giving advice
to person whom taking role at the main stage. In fact I am actually independent person so
whether I receive a responsibility, I am solitaire and tried to give my best at my only shoulder.
Sometimes relied by others could also means extra stress for me. Now, I am still learning how to
manage other people will and expectation that expressed by their trust to myself.
2. I am adaptive individual, surviving in many hardship and new environment. I am always trying to
adapt with new environment by learning the local values such as way of speaking, thinking, and
expressing emotions. I am encouraged to be a better person even though I might not the typical
fast learner. But I spent a lot of time to learn from the real system and reality, giving me chance
to keep up from those who brainy minded and diligent person who learning from book theory. I
am also fully aware of myself potential, sometimes spontaneous attitude giving me easier way
to blended with the society. I am also an individual that cherished diversities since I had many
different friends from many different backgrounds. Having lot of friends like that give me wider
perspective and point of view of how we should face the problem.
3. I had a critical thinking behavior. I tried to criticize something which is not right and give my
personal thought, suggesting how it should be going in. The problem in my society and what I
am facing actually always ties to previous events, later usually we found out that we actually
already thinking about it, the possible outcome and the solution. Not everyone is gifted with the
ability to express it and I am the one whom dare to saying what am I thinking, even though
sometimes it is not went well because I cannot saying it in a structured ideas. My critical
thinking is gained time by time after many things happened on me. Since I was kid, I learn not to
be people who held grudge and express the feeling wisely. As time goes by, the chance to
leading in some club activities and organization since junior high school until now in universities
develop me to be a person whom always try to generate better solution, aware of something
that not going right and has potential to bring failure. I also always bring my own principle when
criticize something, being honest and share the ideal-realistic vision.
