Wireless Data Network Specialist (St-Laurent) - SEC01745-14

Position Overview:
This position is to perform network assurance functions related to wireless data/IP network elements.
Responsibilities: Provide trouble analysis i.e. testing, fault isolation and repair functions using logs, alarms and operational measurements Provision, commission, test, maintain and repair data/IP network elements and services Perform preventative maintenance routines for data/data network elements, power, and environment to ensure network reliability Resolve issues or refer to others Represent operations at meetings regarding impacts, resources and scheduling conflicts Identify issues, resolve or refer to others Ensure testing has been completed and issues identified and/or escalated Work with other teams to implement hardware, software, firmware, product change, upgrades and commissioning of network elements/services Work directly with vendors and internal departments to develop procedures and MOPs for new software and patches Identify opportunities for improvement to technical processes and procedures Resolve, recommend solutions and/or refer to others Initiate discussion and/or respond to queries Provide trouble details, progress updates and confirm resolutions directly with vendors/internal teams Complete administrative requirements i.e. time and expense Qualifications
Required Skills & Abilities: Professional oral and written communications skills Self-motivated, works well with minimal supervision Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments Maintain a high level of performance under pressure in a fast-paced changing environment Ability to work shifts and be on-call Required Knowledge: Knowledge of network technology, architecture, transmission, power and elements Knowledge of and ability to isolate and resolve troubles Knowledge of installation, maintenance and/or commissioning of network elements Excellent knowledge of computers, software applications and job related systems Knowledge of safe work practices, safety rules and regulations Required Education & Certification: CCNA Certification or equivalent Post secondary education in computer sciences, electronics and/or telecommunications Who is TELUS?
