the topic.
An essay is usually a short piece of writing. It is often written from an author's personal point of
view. Essays can be literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of
daily life, recollections and reflections of the author. An essay as an introduction paragraph
supports paragraphs and the conclusion paragraph.
1. The introduction paragraph is the first paragraph of your essay. It must have the thesis
statement which is a single sentence that brings the main idea of the essay.
2. The supporting paragraphs make up the main body of your essay. In the supporting
paragraphs you list the points that develop the main idea of your essay. You have to develop
each supporting point with facts, details, and examples. Each supporting point has to be placed
in its own paragraph.
3. The conclusion paragraph comes at the end of your essay after you have finished developing
your ideas. In this paragraph you have to restate the strongest points of your essay that support
your main idea and you also have to include your personal opinion.
