Digital Engine Monitor (T809)

This service parts topic announces that Cummins has released a digital engine monitor for the QSK19, QSK45,
and QSK60 Series engines. This new monitor, Part No. 4000518, is for use in power unit control panels and
machine dashboard mounting.
The engine monitor will provide SAE 1587 digital engine information on a small LED monitor visible to the
operator. The monitor will provide the following information to the operator:
1. Throttle Percentage
2. Percent Engine Load
3. Engine Oil Pressure (psig)
4. Boost Pressure (psig)
5. Intake Manifold Temperature (F)
6. Barometric Pressure (psia)
7. Engine Coolant Temperature (F)
8. Injector Timing Rail Pressure (psig)
9. Injector Metering Rail Pressure (psig)
10. Battery Voltage (VDC)
11. Fuel Rate (gal/sec)
12. Engine Speed (rpm).
The digital engine monitor can be connected by a 9-pin Deutsch connector that will connect to either the 9-pin
Deutsch connector as supplied from the OEM wiring harness or the 9-pin Deutsch connector that is supplied on
the side of the engine by the engine manufacturer.
If a 9-pin connector has not been supplied by the OEM (usually located in the cab), it will be necessary for the
customer to wire and install a 9-pin receptacle in the location of their choice.
To wire a 9-pin receptacle from the 31-pin OEM plug (located at the rear of the engine) properly, the following
parts are needed:
1. 31-pin OEM connector (plug), Part No. 3824826. This part is needed for all OEM wiring harness interfaces
and does not necessitate the need to purchase this part as an extra.
2. Female terminals (16-AWG), Part No. 3822921, for use with the 31-pin OEM connector listed above.
3. 9-pin Deutsch receptacle, Part No. 3825182. This part is exactly the same as that found on the side of the
engine and is often used for public data broadcast.
4. Male terminals (16-AWG), Part No. 3822920, for use with the 9-pin Deutsch receptacle listed above.
5. Wire, 16-18 AWG.

The QSK19/45/60 Wiring Diagram, Bulletin No. 3666133, must be used as a reference for proper wiring of the
connector and receptacle. In order to wire the digital engine monitor properly, one must populate the 31-pin OEM
connector with the appropriate terminals so that they can be connected by a 16-18 AWG wire to the appropriate
terminals in the 9-pin Deutsch receptacle connector. This must be done as the QSK19/45/60 wiring diagram
indicates and is summarized below.
