Students will deepen their understanding of drawing through hands on art activities. Students will stretch
their skills, creativity and problem solving through creative approaches to still life, drawing from
observation, art history and imagination. Multiple drawing materials will be used to include pencil,
colored pencil, charcoal, chalk and ink. Sketchbooks will be used for exploration of ideas, practice of
techniques and reflection.

Students are welcome to come to the art studio before and after school to work if they want or need more time
to complete projects. As it is often difficult to complete artwork at home and the learning community of the
studio cannot be duplicated outside of class, prompt regular attendance is essential.

Your sketches may be visual note taking, and may utilize words, collage and various media. They !" #$T
re%uired to be finished drawings, but should record ideas that you may work with for current and future pieces.

Your sketchbook will demonstrate your artistic development and research. You may include writing, drawing,
practice pieces, clippings of images that inspire you, and collage.
