HUANUCO

Huanuco was founded on August 15th, 1539. It is a place called the cityof
eternal spring for its beautifulclimate. It is approximately 410 km. from Lima ,
35 minutes from Lima by airplane and 8 hours by bus.
The city of Huanuco has many attractions . The Main Square has beautiful trees
and monuments. You can visit the Cathedral, Churches and Convents.
Kotosh is 5 Km. From the Huanuco City. There, you can see the famous
Temple of the Crossed Hands , which is 4000 years old.
You can visit Huanuco in February and see the Carnival, or in August and
celebrate their anniversary.
In December you can see the dance of the Negritos , which is a very important
of Huanucos folklore.
Another attraction is the food , you can eat Picante de cuy, Locro and
Pachamanca , which is meat , potatoes, sweet potatoes and corn cooked in
a hole in the ground covered with very hot stones .
