EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN
FLOW MEASUREMENT
ACCURATE AND RELIABLE FLOWMETER
The intrinsic accuracy of the flowmeter is the first
condition to meet customer demands for overall
measurement accuracy.
Air bubbles and suspended solids often cause pro-
blems in signal detection. A state of the art signal
detection method is therefore necessary to avoid
such problems.

KNOWLEDGE OF HYDRAULIC
CONDITIONS
Not every location along the pipe is suitable for flow
measurement. Hydraulic flow conditions affect flow
measurement to a large extend. Therefore the measu-
ring site has to be selected carefully.
PRECISE DETERMINATION OF PIPE
GEOMETRY AND TRANSDUCER
POSITIONS
Measurement accuracy is largely influenced by the
geometric variables of the measuring point such as the
cross-section of the pipe and the exact positions of
the transducers.
For that reason determination of those variables as
well as precise installation of transducers is of major
importance.
RISONIC 2000 FLOWMETER
RISONIC 2000 uses very high resolution multipath
transit time measurement and the latest digital proces-
sing technology (DSP) to achieve first class measuring
accuracy.
Transducers cause distortion to the fluid flow if they
protrude into the conduit. RISONIC 2000 compensates
this effect by means of flow computation based on the
type of transducer used.
Advanced signal analysis (cross-correlation) enables
correct signal detection and improves measurement
reliability, even in the presence of considerable amounts
of suspended solids.
PRE-INSTALLATION
Rittmeyer provides services to support customers in
determining:
The best location for flow measurement
The optimum orientation and arrangement of the
measurement paths
The range of service extends from recommendations
up to extensive engineering.

INSTALLATION
SERVICES
Hydraulic flow conditions have to be considered in order
to achieve the best measurement performance. Optimum
selection of measuring site and path arrangement are
prerequisites for successful flow measurement.
SIMPLE FLUID FLOW CONDITIONS
When the flow is free of turbulence as is
the case with long straight runs, a single
path arrangement is ideal.
SELECTION OF MEASURING SITE
Based on the building plans of your facility,
our engineering group provides suggestions
for the best measurement location. For
critical applications, computerised velocity
profile simulations are performed to
support selection.
SELECTION OF PATH ORIENTATION
AND ARRANGEMENT
Depending on the actual hydraulic flow conditions, our
engineering team selects optimum orientation and
arrangement for the measuring paths.
DIFFICULT HYDRAULIC FLOW
CONDITIONS
If there are any cones, necks, elbows, vanes
or pumps adjacent to the planned location
for flow measurement a disturbed flow
distribution is to be expected. To meet accu-
racy requirements under these conditions
optimum path orientation and arrangement
are indispensable.
Single path arrangement Multipath
arrangement
Multipath arrangement
with crossed paths
ENGINEERING
Careful installation of transducers at theoretically defi-
ned positions, precise determination of pipe cross-sec-
tion and determination of final positions of installed
transducers are the key to first class measurement
accuracy.
CUSTOMER TRANSDUCER
INSTALLATION
For customer installation of transdu-
cers, Rittmeyer offers a wide range of
different marking and installation tools.
Please refer to the recommendations
on installation methods and tools
overleaf.
PIPE GEOMETRY COMPENSATION
Rittmeyer apply OWICS (Optimal Weighted
Integration for Circular Sections) developed
by the Swiss Federal Institute of Techno-
logy, to compensate for pipe geometry
deviations.
HIGH PRECISION INSTALLATION
For highest possible accuracy demands,
Rittmeyer recommends high precision
installation by our experienced staff using a
theodolite with integrated interferometer
for distance measurement and laser poin-
ter accessory.
