TAM Extension Module
Data Sheet
Extending the capabilities of Innera Tributary Adapter Modules, the Innera TEM lets you
maximize both the bandwidth and reliability advantages of the rst switched WDM system.
The TAM Extension Module (TEM) provides TAM extension
capabilities for Digital Line Modules (DLMs) enabling better
utilization of Optical Channel Groups within an Innera DTN
system. The TEM provides additional TAM interfaces within a
chassis enabling additional client signals terminated on the
TAMs populated within the TEM to be cross-connected any
DLM within the chassis.
The TEM supports ODU1 (2.5Gb/s) granularity switching and
grooming via an internal switch fabric, enabling exible selection
of add-drop to and from DLMs. Backplane connectivity to other
DLMs or TEMs facilitates switching and grooming of capacity to
other DLMs or TEMs.
Each TEM supports encapsulation of the client facilities into a
digital wrapper with integrated FEC to increase overall reliability
and transmission distance while enhancing maintenance
procedures on the digital path. Integrated real-time performance
monitoring of each Digital Transport Path (DTP) provides
conventional digital transport performance parameters on
DWDM wavelengths to enhance network reliability, enabling
service differentiation.
The integrated cross-point switch present on the TEM enables
cross-connection of digital paths without re-routing intermediate
intra-system ber enabling many different network congurations.
Network reconguration at the digital layer is simplied by the
TEM enabling in-service conguration changes.
Each TEM supports multiple client types via the TAM slots
present on the module, allowing exible conguration on a
per-service or per-wavelength basis. This reduces the complexity
of network design and accelerates the deployment of different
service types.
The TEM occupies slots 3, 4, 5, and/or 6 of a DTN chassis,
and multiple TEMs may be present in a multi-chassis system
conguration. Each TEM supports ve TAM slots which can
be populated with multiple GbE, 10GbE/OC192/STM64,
or OC48/STM16 client interfaces.
