Non Profit Safe Passage Receives Grant From

Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills
$24,869.40 Will Enhance Safe Passages Health Services to Victims of Domestic Violence

SafePassagereceivedagrantintheamountof$24,869.40fromKaiserPermanenteWoodland
HIlls.Thegrantwillhelpcontinuethemissioninprovidingservicesandcareforwomenand
childrenwhoveescapedanabusivehomeenvironment.

WearesogratefultoKaiserPermanenteforrecognizingthisneedinourcommunity,and
reachingouttohelpdomesticviolencesurvivorsaftertheyveleftthehospital,saysSafe
PassageCEOTrishSteele.Wewillensurethemoneygoestohelpthewomenandchildrenin
ourcareastheyrecoverphysicallyandemotionallywhiletakingstepstoanewlife.

501(c)3SafePassagewasestablishedin2000.Sincethen,morethan1500womenandtheir
childrenhavecometotheorganizationforshelterandsupport.SafePassageaimstotransform
womeninshelterstobeindependentwithinsixmonths.Itsclientshavea95%successratein
breakingthecycleofdomesticviolenceandcreatinganewlife.

Weunderstandthatgoodhealthextendsbeyondthedoctorsofficeandthehospital,said

ourCommunityBenefitGrantsProgramtosupportnonprofitagenciesthatofferdirecthealthcare
servicesoraddresspublicpolicyaimedatimprovingcommunityhealth.

SafePassageprovideshope,opportunity,prideandempowermenttoabusedwomenandtheir
children,leadingthemtoanewandbetterlife.Servicesincludehealthandnutritionclasses,
counseling,medicalcheckups,reconstructivesurgery,selfdefenseclasses,jobandcomputer
training,transportation,activitiesandmentorshipsforchildren,beautycounseling,andresidential
guidanceandsupplies.
