Scheme A: Intermediate Examination Scheme B: First Year Examination Graduate Entry Route A: Level I Examination Graduate Entry Route B: Year 1 Examination
You will have received one of the results described below; please read the full explanation and the advice about what you can do next. Please note that if you registered on or after 1 October 1986 you will need to pay the annual continuing registration fee to maintain the validity of your registration.
PASS You can progress to the next stage of your degree and enter for the examination for that stage in the May/June 2015 examinations.
REFERRED You have narrowly failed one subject with a mark of 30%-39%. You must pass this referred subject before you can progress to the next stage of your degree. You can make up to two attempts to pass the referred subject and you can only sit the referred subject in the re-sit examination. The next opportunity to re-sit the referred subject is October 2014.
FAIL You have failed either one subject with a mark below 30% or more than one subject in the examination. You can make a further attempt by re-entering for all the papers again; no credit is given for individual papers passed. The next examination opportunity for you is May/June 2015.
FAIL (NOVEMBER) You have failed one subject with a mark below 30% or more than one subject in the examination. You can make a further attempt by re-entering for all the papers again; no credit is given for individual papers passed. The next opportunity for you to enter for examinations is October 2014.
FAILED REFERRED SUBJECT (FIRST ATTEMPT) You have failed the first attempt at a referred subject. You can make one further attempt at this subject. The next opportunity to re-sit this referred subject is October 2014.
FAILED REFERRED SUBJECT (SECOND ATTEMPT) You have failed the second attempt at a referred subject and have therefore failed the whole examination. You can make a further attempt by re-entering for all the papers in the examination again; no credit is given for individual papers passed. The next available opportunity for you to enter for examinations is May/June 2015.
RETIRED You were absent from one or more papers but attended at least one paper. No credit is given for individual papers passed; you can make a further attempt by re-entering for all the papers again. The next available opportunity for you to enter for examinations is May/June 2015.
RETIRED (NOVEMBER) You were absent from one or more papers. No credit is given for individual papers passed; you can make a further attempt by re-entering for all the papers again. The next available opportunity for you to enter for examinations is October 2014. A failure or retirement in October 2014 will count towards the maximum of four attempts permitted at this examination.
NOT UP You made an examination entry but did not sit any papers. Your examination entry will not count as an attempt; you can enter the examination again in May/June 2015.
RESULT WHAT YOU CAN DO NEXT Pass Enter the Examination for the next stage of your degree in May/June 2015. Referred; Failed Referred Subject (First attempt) Re-sit the referred subject only in October 2014. Fail; Failed Referred Subject (Second Attempt); Retired; Not Up Re-enter all papers in May/June 2015. Fail (November); Retired (November) Re-enter all papers in October 2014.
If you received the result of Referred or Fail Referred Subject (First attempt) or Fail (November) the next opportunity for you to enter for examinations is October 2014. Eligible students should download an entry form from their Student Portal and enter in the same way as you did for the May examinations; the closing date for entries is 22 nd September 2014.
TRANSFERRING FROM SCHEME A TO SCHEME B If you sat the Intermediate Examination under Scheme A and achieved a pass mark (40% or above) in three papers you are permitted to transfer to Year 2 of Scheme B. If you passed four papers under the Intermediate (Scheme A) examination you are permitted to transfer to Year 2 of Scheme B and to be exempted from the remaining Intermediate level paper at Year 2.
TRANSFERRING FROM GRADUATE ENTRY ROUTE A TO ROUTE B If you sat the Level I (Graduate Route A) examination and achieved a pass mark in three papers (40% or above) you are permitted to transfer to Year 2 of Scheme B or Year 2 of Graduate Entry Route B. If you passed four papers under the Level I (Graduate Route A) examinations you are also permitted to transfer to Year 2 of Scheme B or Year 2 of Graduate Entry Route B, and to be exempted from the remaining Level 1 paper at Year 2.
