Vitocal 161-A: New DHW heat pump with optional
solar or photovoltaic function

High efficiency, high hot water temperatures and particularly quiet
running set the new Vitocal 161-A apart from other DHW pumps on
the market. As its heat source the Vitocal 161-A uses either the warm
air from the buildings interior or the extract air from kitchen and
bathroom. Alternatively it can be operated with electricity from a
photovoltaic system and can also utilize solar thermal energy.

As a compact solution the Vitocal 161-A is equipped with all the
components necessary for efficient and space-saving DHW heating.
The heat pump module comes with a 300 liter storage cylinder and
integrated easy-to-use controller.

Efficient hot water system

The heat pump module with an output of 1.7 kW achieves a high
COP of 3.7 (at A15/W15-45C). The pump achieves hot water
temperatures of up to 65C. Optionally, an immersion heater can be
used to cover peak demand or ensure that domestic water meets
hygiene requirements.

Available as recirculation air or extract air pump

The Vitocal 161-A recirculation air version uses air straight from the
room in which it is installed. A room cooled using this method is
suitable as a storeroom for food, for example, or of a computer
center.

The Vitocal 161-A extract air model draws in the moist extract air via
ducts from bathroom, WC and kitchen and transfers it outside after
removing the heat. In conjunction with vents ensuring the supply of
fresh outdoor air to the living areas, the Vitocal 161-A becomes the
key component of a controlled domestic ventilation system. The
maximum extract air flow rate is 300 cubic meters per hour.

Both versions are also available with a heat exchanger integrated into
the cylinder for connecting a thermal solar system or another heat
generator (boiler for oil, gas or biomass).

Electricity from a photovoltaic system

The new Vitocal 161-A can also be operated using solar power from a
photovoltaic system. It therefore helps to increase the amount of
privately generated power in the house and reduces electricity costs
accordingly. To achieve this, the controller can be set so that the
water is only heated if a high solar power yield is expected.

The Vitocal 161-A is configured for connection to an intelligent power
network (smart grid).

Especially easy to install

The Vitocal 161-A is delivered assembled, fully wired and plug-in
ready. Simply install, connect the water pipes and condensate drain
and plug into a standard 230 V power socket and the recirculating
air heat pump is ready for operation. With a low sound power level of
less than 56 dB(A), the unit can also be operated in the vicinity of
living areas.
