APPENDIX

THE ROLE OF PROJECT CONTROLLER
The role of a project coordinator, planner, and scheduler has evolved into that of
"project controller". The project controller supports the project manager by

project tasks. As a result, the project manager is free to focus on more strategic
project goals and objectives, and is often even able to take on additional projects.
The project controller is a key member of the project team and works directly with
the project manager to help define the project's goals and objectives create and
maintain a project's budget and schedule, analyse progress reported against the
work schedules and recommend actions to improve progress. In order to ensure
accurate documentation and reporting on a consistent basic, many organisations are
positioning the project manager and project controller as part of a centralised
project support organisation.
