Our Family Faith Formation Program G.I.F.T (Growing in Faith Together) formerly called Religious Education (R.E.) is our communitys response to the busy-ness of life. Parents work late hours; children have homework and extracurricular activities. Family Faith Formation is designed to strengthen the family through bi-monthly gatherings. Families will gather two Sundays a month (Sept. - May) where we will have family learning activities as well as age appropriate learning sessions.
Our G.I.F.T Family Faith Formation program is an innovative approach to teaching the Catholic faith. We are empowering parents to be the primary educators of their children while involving the family in enjoyable catechetical activities. The program is required for families who have children that are not enrolled in Catholic Schools and seeking Sacrament preparation. All other parishioners/families are welcome as well. Sessions are held from 9:15 10:45 AM on the Sundays indicated on this calendar. Students and parents are expected to report on time to the cafeteria each scheduled session. Parents and children arrive and participate in an opening prayer and faith based activity for the entire family. During breakout sessions, children and adults will separate and leave with a catechist for age-appropriate sessions. For the Family Event sessions families will remain together and participate in an intergenerational learning activity. At least one parent/guardian/adult must attend each session with a child.
On the weeks that there is no session families will be provided with resources for further learning and conversation at home. This is not homework, but a way to support the family in the weeks between our gatherings.
Cost per child is $40 and forms to register can be downloaded at stgabriel.net under the Family Faith Formation banner.
During the year there are three sessions listed for children preparing for a Sacrament. These extra sessions (one for each Sacrament) are for the child. If you have a child who has been approved to be enrolled in Sacrament preparation, these sessions are required in addition to the other sessions and the Sacrament Preparation meetings/ workshops.
