-Nearly all legal cases start with an accusation.

In many countries, the burden of proof is necessary to

back up a claim. This was no different for accusations in ancient Hebrew and Roman law.

-For instance, under the Mosaic Law, the court system was designed to prevent fraudulent claims.
-A specific legal process made this system successful:

-First, a witness to a crime was commanded to contact the proper authorities.
-We can find this requirement in the Bible at (Le 5:1). Lets go there and read what it says

-We can see from this can that witnesses were required to make a report to
authorities or face punishment themselves.

-Parents and siblings of a criminal were not exempt from this command. At De 13:6-8 it says
relatives must not show pity or feel compassion or protect him
-Clearly, all witnesses, even relatives, were obligated to report wrongdoing.

-Second, the authorities would do an investigation to substantiate the validity of an accusation

-Only when sufficient evidence was obtained would punishment be administered.

-Under the Mosaic law, two or more witnesses were required to verify an accusation. This law is found at
Nu 35:30. Again, why dont we go to that scripture together
-So, its explicit here that even in the case of murder two or more witnesses were
required in the Hebrew courts

-Lastly, both the accuser and the accused would face one another in court.

-Moving forward in history, the Roman Empire also required the accusers and the accused to appear in
court.

-For example, when the Apostle Paul stood trial before governors Felix and Festus, his accusers
were also present. ////pause///

-Of course, since human law is imperfect, corruption is bound to occur. The most famous case of this
corruption was the execution of Jesus Christ.

-More specifically, false accusations by the Pharisees of treason were accepted as truth by the
Roman courts

-These accusations can be found at Lu 23:2. It says.

-Although the Pharisees accused Jesus Christ of being a threat to Caesar, these Jewish
leaders new Jesus was no threat and went so far as to kill an innocent, peaceful man just
to silence his message

-Today, many Jehovahs Witnesses are also falsely labeled as traitors and extremists when they only
desire peaceful neutrality. Such ones may face jail time, torture, or even in some extreme cases death.

-Nevertheless, we can have comfort looking forward to a day when Jesus Christ will return perfect law to
the Earth

-At Isaiah 9;6, 7 it says that Christ will bring justice and righteousness from now on and forever

-Yes, unlike human law, Christs law will put a permanent end to corruption, injustice, and lawlessness.
