A BOBIT BUSINESS MEDIA PUBLICATION
4
If youd like to see your designs in our next
issue of Nail Art Gallery Magazine, contact
me at Beth.Livesay@bobit.com.
Welcome to the first edition of Nail
Art Gallery Magazine! I know most of
us are used to flipping through soft, glossy pages
filled with lovely pictures, but we wanted to make
a publication that brings the best of nail art to the
touch of your fingertips. With a swipe and a tap,
you can now be inspired to try new things
from wherever you are.
It seems the world has become all about
sharing. From social media to retail, we have a newfound
desire to share our experiences and let our voices be heard. I love that this
magazine celebrates sharing creativity from all parts of the nail universe and all forms
of media. We have included looks from professionals and hobbyists alike. You will find
links to our website, our blogs, and the online galleries of those featured here. Were
sharing videos, step-by-step demos, and galleries galore to help inspire you. We all
have in common an appreciation for the artistry that is possible at our fingertips. While
a design might begin there, it never really ends. Thats because we are constantly
documenting, chronicling, uploading, and starting all over again.
I hope you share in uploading your own creations to Nail Art Gallery so that you
can take part in this vibrant community and possibly be included in a future issue.
The sections of this magazine have been divided up based on trends we have seen
in the world of nail art. I invite you to put your own spin on the trends seen here or
maybe even start one of your own. I look forward to celebrating all that is trending and
timeless with you. Creativity, after all, never goes out of style.

Animal Print
Almost as much of a classic as the
French design, animal print has
proved to be a popular look with
staying power. From giraffes to
peacocks to zebras and everything
in between, these styles allow you
to explore your wilder side.
Play with colors or combine prints
for a more adventurous look like these nails by
Langley, British Columbia, Canada-based nail tech
Joanne Millar.

Color Block Party
Color blocking is big on runways
the world over. Designers such
as Jil Sander, Prabal Gurung,
and Gucci showed pieces
that paired colors from
across the color wheel. And
this trend doesnt just stop
at clothing. These next
few pages prove that the
more colors on a nail,
the better.
Bussey, Iowa-based nail technician
and CND education ambassador Holly
Schippers shows us how to bring this
stylish look right to your fingertips. Click here
for step-by-step instructions on how to get this look.

Striking Stilettos
Extra long and extra dramatic, stilettos give nail artists more space to wow
us with their designs. While most people think of a stiletto as something
found on your feet, the work on these nails will have everyone looking up.
To create stilettos that come
up rosy, click here.

Agnieszka Ceesay, Brighton, U.K. [Click here for full profile.]
Rhinestones and simple dotting evolved into
watching tutorials of nail art. For Agnieszka Ceesay
of Brighton, U.K., these nails are little masterpieces.
She finds the art relaxing. OPI gel and Shellac are
her favorite to work with and she likes acrylics
because they are long and never look heavy on the hand.

While working as an accountant, Hanna Yakavenka took
a nail course. Pretty soon all her friends wanted Hanna
doing their nails. What was once a hobby fast became
a career. When it comes to design, Hanna prefers
combining detailed drawing and abstract pictures. A thin
brush and tweezers are therefore her weapon of choice when it comes
to nail art. Hanna does not use nail polish, only gel or acrylic. Stilettos
are her favorite shape of nail as they make the nail look thinner.

together in the sky. Background colors can be blacks or dark blues and
the possibilities for designs are infinite. This look is trending on shoes,
swimwear, and clothing. Be as detailed or abstract as you want to
create your own set of stellar tips.
This video will help you get the look.

Nothing is as classic as black and white. Not only are these colors the perfect
complement to each other, but they lend themselves to being paired with
everything else. Let black and white nails embolden you to dress in bright
colors, wear vibrant accessories, or wear makeup that pops. The following
looks prove that black and white doesnt equal boring. Add bling or beautiful
designs to bring out the best of these basics.

Tony Fox, Nails of Promise, London [Click here for full profile.]

A great affinity for Art Deco, Chinese art, and Chinese calligraphy
led Tony Fox to practice nail art. When he met Helen Pham
their deep passion for the nail industry drew them together.
Sometimes Tony will start a design only to have Helen finish it.
When it comes to black and white nails, Tony feels there
is a definite wow factor and they can be perfect for both informal and formal
occasions. Its like looking at the monochrome photograph, there are no colors to
get in the way of the image you see. Tonys two years as a nail professional at Nails
of Promise in London have helped him to hone his painting skills. Handpainting
with polish and acrylic, particularly OPI, are his favorites.

Tis the Season
Nothing brings cheer like the holidays. The latter part of the year sees
the temperatures drop and excitement build over Christmas, Hanukkah,
New Years, and the first snow fall. Get creative with your designs by
drawing intricate details from your favorite seasonal characters. Or
keep it simple by sticking to cool colors and celebratory shimmer.

Elena Sandina may
be known for her
Christmas designs
here, but her favorite
holiday for doing
nail art for is actually Valentines
Day because it is full of magic
and love. What draws her to
creating Christmas-inspired
designs are the decorations,
glitter, lights, and abundance
of color that make this holiday
breathtaking.
In Elenas native country,
New Years is celebrated more,
so she enjoys how fairy tale-like
Christmas is in the U.S. Now
residing in Greenville, N.C., Elena
enjoys taking good care of her
nails and sharing her creations
