INTRODUCTION
In our age and time you will find that even Muslims are in the dark
when asked the question on the Universal reality of the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him).

It is not enough to say that he is a Prophet or the last Prophet of
Allah or that he came and established Islam or that Allah revealed
the Holy Quran to him. Although his Prophethood is an established
fact, we need to look more closely at the very essence of the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) to really get to know something of his
true being and his immense importance in Allahs creation.

We cannot run around proclaiming we follow the Quran and
Sunnah unless we make an effort to understand the embodiment of
the Quran and Sunnah, which is the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him) himself.

It comes as no surprise that so many Muslims have left the path of
true Islam and become extremists or on the other hand dont even
practice the main tenets of Islam. Both these extremes are a result of
Muslims themselves misunderstanding Islam and you cant even
begin to understand Islam unless you first understand, even a little,
of the true nature of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

On the one hand you have those that brag on about being the best
Muslims, following Quran and Sunnah and appearing to look pious
outwardly, but when you question them about the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) you are left stunned at their disrespect for the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), disrespect that they convey
clearly in their words which are full of misguidance and arrogance.
For instance you will hear them say he (the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him)) is bones and dust now, Allah forbid, he (the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him)) was only a messenger, he conveyed
the message and left, so forget about him and read the message
and many more degrading statements that better not be mentioned
here.

5
On the other hand, we see Muslims struggling to keep their identity
to the extent of renouncing the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
and the Holy Quran as backward. Again this is born out of false
propaganda, slurs and lies circulated everywhere about the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him). Some non-Muslim leaders, including
some Church leaders, Jewish Rabbis, Hindu and Sikh priests are all
on the bandwagon to discredit the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him), while the helpless Muslims can but vent their anger in the
streets only then to be labelled as trouble makers and uncivilized
people all over the World.

The old saying dammed if you do, and dammed if you dont has
gripped Muslims throughout the World. And the suffering and
humiliation of Muslims takes centre stage in the world media on
purpose so that fuel can be added to the fire giving non-Muslim
extremists the courage to attack Muslims wherever they find them in
a minority as is happening in India, Thailand, Europe and throughout
the World.

It is fruitless for Muslims to vent their anger while they themselves
have no regard for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). If the real
essence of the nature of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
understood by Muslims it is a certainty that Muslims will again regain
their dignity and honour, but until then we will spiral down this
unbecoming slippery slope only to become a spectacle and
amusement for our enemies.

It is with heartfelt sincerity that the following work has been compiled
and it is hoped that our present and more importantly future
generations will reflect hard on the REAL essence of the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) as did the great noble Companions of
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

What follows will certainly put a few misconceptions into place that
the Muslim youth of today have been brain washed into following by
those who profess to know Islam better than anyone before them, as
they claim. That claim alone shows the arrogance of their thought,
which has led to corrupt beliefs, which in turn has led to misguidance
of the youth who go around uttering a few well rehearsed phrases of
Arabic to impress the unsuspecting.
6
Little Knowledge is Dangerous
If the Holy Quran could be understood by knowing the Arabic
language well, the Arabian Christians in Arabia should have
understood the Holy Quran better than anyone else. But, in fact,
they have understood nothing of the Holy Quran and have not even
been honoured with becoming Muslims.

To understand the meaning of the Holy Quran, it is necessary to
learn well branches of knowledge such as 'ilm-i lughat, 'ilm-i matn-i
lughat 'ilm-i badi', 'ilm-i bayan, 'ilm-i ma'ani, 'ilm-i balaghat, 'ilm-i usul-
i tafsir, to be profoundly learned in the complementary branches of
knowledge such as sarf and nahw (Arabic grammar) and logic, to
know well the clear meanings, the included meanings, the Divinely
aimed meanings of ayats, the meanings necessitated by them,
when, why and for whom each ayat al-karima descended, and with
which Hadith ash-sharifs and how ayat al-karimas are explained.
Only such deeply learned savants can interpret the Holy Quran.
That is, they can understand the Divine meaning from the Divine
word. The attempt of a person with no such knowledge to interpret
the Holy Quran is similar to an elementary student attempting to
read university books or to perform chemical experiments. We have
often read in newspapers that many a such poor person fell victim to
his own experiments. Those who do not possess all this knowledge
should resort to tafsirs, from which they will try to understand the
meanings which learned people understood and wrote. Reading and
understanding tafsirs require knowing Arabic and the complementary
branches of knowledge well. We, who know nothing of these
branches, can understand nothing from tafsirs. If we, relying on the
diplomas which we acquired from high schools and faculties, attempt
to dive into the knowledge of tafsir, of which we are so unaware, we
will destroy ourselves. Like a certified person who goes out in the
sea though he does not know how to swim, we would have behaved
ignorantly, stupidly. [1]

The Disease
Undoubtedly, those who annoy Allah and His Messenger,
Allah's curse is upon them in the world and in the Hereafter and
Allah has kept prepared for them a degrading torment. And
those who hurt the believing men and believing women without
7
doing anything, they have taken over their heads a calumny and
an open sin. [Surah Azhab 57-58]

There is a modern disease of defaming the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him) that has gripped young Muslims, the unsuspecting new
Muslims and now spreading to all Muslims. This disease is being
spread by the enemies of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
under the banner of Quran and Sunnah no less. Sound
commentaries of the Holy Quran and sound explanations of Hadiths
by masters of Hadiths are being discredited by up starts armed with
their literal meanings beyond which their negligible intellect cannot
comprehend the greater deeper meaning of the Holy Quran or the
Hadiths.

Fourteen hundred years of traditional Islamic methods of learning
has been discredited by these enemies within for the sole purpose
of defaming the honour of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).
Great Imams and Awliya Allah have accepted the classical works of
the Quran and Hadith masters but today we see people preaching
Islam based on their misguided beliefs and shallow non-existent
interpretations of the Holy Quran and Hadiths.

Firstly, it is amply clear from the above verses of the Holy Quran
that those people or groups that are on the band wagon of defaming
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) by constantly picking holes in
well established beliefs of the majority of Muslims and accusing
Muslims of Bida and Shirk every time Muslims show their love and
respect for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) are in fact
annoying Allah and His Messenger and without a doubt these
disease prone groups will suffer a degrading torment which has
long been prepared for their like.

Secondly, those groups that go to the extent of picking holes in the
works of the authentic masters of Quran and Hadith and those
endowed with knowledge should take heed of the above verses of
the Quran. For indeed those diseased groups who even go as far
as criticising the works of Imam Bukhari and great scholars like
Imam Suyuti have taken over their heads a calumny and an open
sin
8
Wash yourselves of this disease here and now before you proceed
reading this work. Do ablution (wudu) of the mind and the spirit and
rest assured that ALL the material in this compilation is sound and
with references, which even the leaders of these diseased groups
accept as truth!

Ablution of the Mind and Spirit
It is an established FACT that the majority of the Muslims accepts
and follows the beliefs of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah, the largest
group amongst the Muslims from the start until this very day. Bearing
this in mind, read what the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) has
said in the Hadiths about the Majority group:

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "The devil continually
pursues humans as a wolf pursues sheep. The wolf only dares to
attack those sheep, which have separated from the rest of the flock
and are standing alone. And so, my followers! Save yourselves from
being caught in the traps of misguidance and firmly remain with the
largest and most well known group of Muslims!" [Imam Ahmed]

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said Allah will never allow
my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah's
mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of
Muslims. And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will
be thrown into Hell." [Tirmidhi]

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said He who deviates from
the largest group of Muslims, even as much as a hand span, has
himself cut off his connection with Islam." [Abu Daud, Imam Ahmed]

Ahl al-Bida wa Dalala
But today a New (Bida) Minority group [Ahl al-Bida wa al-Dalala
(the people of innovation and misguidance)] has risen up and is
preaching Islam like never before. This New (Bida) Minority group
operates under the false pretext of following Quran and Sunnah
and for the sole purpose of defamation of the Holy Prophet (peace
be upon him) at every opportunity available. The very life and spirit
of Islam as taught to us by the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
being eroded by this New (Bida) Minority group.
9
The agenda of this New (Bida) Minority group is to discredit all the
works of authentic Quranic sciences and authentic works of Hadiths
which the Majority of Muslims have always accepted and followed.
The monumental works of the Quran and Hadith masters, of the
Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah, that have guided, brought peace and
progress to Muslims is being discredited by the New (Bida)
Minority group. And all those Muslims belonging to the blessed Ahle
Sunnah Wal Jamaah are being labelled as mushriks i.e. non-
muslims because the New (Bida) Minority group considers
showing love and respect for the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
as shirk

So are we to follow the New (Bida) Minority group that is hell bent
on annoying Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him) not to
mention hurting the feeling of believers who dedicated their lives to
the study of the Holy Quran and Hadith? On the contrary and
regardless of what this New (Bida) Minority group says, the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) foresaw these mischief maker and
opportunist and gave a clear indication as follows:

"Verily Allah will not make my Community agree on error"
[Tirmidhi]

"Verily Allah will not make my Community -- or Muhammad's
Community -- agree on error, and Allah's hand is with the largest
Congregation." [Tirmidhi]

Is it even conceivable that the vast majority of Muslims throughout
the ages were united on Haram, Bida and Shirk? Impossible! Not
only does it defy logic but clearly Allah and His Prophet (peace be
upon him) would never allow it.

Now read with full assurance what the majority of the Muslims
accepts and believes regarding the true nature of the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him).

THE FIRST IN CREATION
when Adam was still kneaded in his clay
The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said I am Allah's servant (as
written) in the Mother of the Books, and verily the seal of Prophets
when Adam was still kneaded in his clay. I shall tell you of the
meaning of this. (I am) the prayer of my father Ibrahim and the glad
tidings proclaimed by `Isa to his people and the vision of my mother
who saw that a light issued from her illuminating the very palaces of
Syria, and so do all the mothers of Prophets see, Allah's blessings
be upon them." [Imam Ahmad - Musnad [2]]

"What is the first thing that Allah created?"
One of the great companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him), Jabir bin Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him), always asked
questions concerning the deeper knowledge of Islam. On this
particular occasion, he inquired of the Holy Prophet "What is the first
thing that Allah created?" The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
replied 'The first thing that Allah created was the Light of Your
Prophet, Oh Jabir'. Then the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
continued 'Then He created within that light all goodness and after
that, He created everything else. When He created that Luminous
Light, He stood it before Him in the Station of Nearness (Maqam al
Qurb) for 12,000 years.

This light He divided into 4 portions. From the first portion, He
created the Throne. From the second portion He created the
Pedestal. From the third portion, He created the Angels that carry
the Throne and the Trustees of the Pedestal. The fourth portion He
then stood before Him in the Station of Love (Maqam al Hubb) for
12,000 years.

From this fourth portion He created 4 more portions. From the first
portion He created the Pen, from the second He created the Lauh
(Preserved Tablet), from the third He created Paradise. Then He
stood the fourth portion before Him in the Station of Fear (Maqam al
Khawf) for 12,000 years.

From this portion, He created 4 more portions. From the first portion
He created the Angels, from the second He created the Sun, from
11
the third He created the Moon and all the celestial bodies. Then He
stood the fourth portion before Him in the Station of Hope (Maqam ar
Rija') for 12,000 years.

From this portion, He again created 4 more portions. From one He
created the Intellect ('Aql), from the second portion Knowledge and
Gentleness, from the third, Tawfiq (success). The fourth portion He
stood before Him in the Station of Shyness (Maqam al Haya') for
12,000 years. After 12,000 years, Allah turned His glance upon this
light. This look caused luminous beads of perspiration to appear
upon it. From each of these 124,000 drops of light, Allah created the
Spirit of a Prophet or Messenger. Then the Spirits of the Prophets
exhaled. From this exhalation, Allah created all the Saints and the
people who will be in perpetual happiness, the martyrs and those
who are obedient from among the believers until the Day of
Judgment.

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) continued and said 'So the
Throne and the Pedestal are from my light. Paradise and every
enjoyment and perpetual bliss is from my light. The Angels of the
Seven Heavens are from my light. The selected angelic beings are
from my light. The Sun, the Moon and all the celestial bodies are
from my light. Knowledge, Gentleness and Success, are from my
light. The spirits of the Messengers and the Prophets are from my
light. The martyrs and the conscious people are from the result of my
light.

Then Allah created 12 veils. That part of my light which is the fourth
portion of the fourth portion stood in every veil for 1,000 years.
These veils are the veil of generosity, the veil of happiness, the veil
of awe, the veils of mercy and kindness and knowledge,
humbleness, dignity, gentleness (sakinah), patience, realisation and
truthfulness. After worshipping Allah in every veil for a period of
1,000 years, Allah caused the light to emerge and He placed it upon
the Earth. That light illuminates what is between the Easts and the
Wests like a lantern in the darkness of the night.

Then Allah created Adam from the Earth, took from that light and
placed it within his forehead. This light was transmitted to Seth and
from him it passed from one pure soul to another - from goodness to
12
goodness until Allah transferred it to the loins of Abdullah bin Abd al-
Muttalib. From him, it passed into the womb of my mother, Aminah.
Then He brought me forth into this world. He made me the Master of
the Messengers (Sayyid al Mursalin), Seal of the Prophets (Khatm
an Nabiyyin) and a mercy for all creations.

That is how the creation of your Prophet (peace be upon him) was
accomplished, Oh Jabir. Thus said the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon him).

Over 22 Billion Years Passed
"The angels and the Spirit ascend unto Him in a Day, the
measure whereof is (as) fifty thousand years"[Surah 70:4

Note: The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentions
in this saying a series of time periods totalling 12,060,000 years (5 x
12,000 + 12,000 X 1000) before the creation of Adam. Taking into
account the measure that Allah mentions in the verse of the Holy
Quran quoted above - a period of earthly time roughly equivalent to
220,095,000,000,000 years (22,095 billion) occurs from the creation
of the Light of Muhammad (peace be upon him) to the creation of
Adam. (12,060,000 multiplied by 365 days by 50,000 years). [3]

Another reference to the same Hadith: "O Jabir! Verily, before the
creation of anything else, Almighty Allah created the Nur of your
Prophet from His Nur." [Muwahibul Laduniya; Zirkani Sharif]

Wahhabi accepts that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
Allahs first Creation and Nur
Zahir (Ihsan Ilahi), a leader of the Wahhabi-influenced Deobandi
school and declared enemy of the Barelwi school of Ahl al-Sunna
Wal Jamaah in his book Hadiyyat al-Mahdi (p. 56 of the Sialkut
edition) says: "Allah began His creation with the Muhammadan light
(al-Nur al-Muhammadi), then He created the Throne over the water,
then He created the wind, then He created the Nun and the Pen and
the Tablet, then He created the Intellect. The Muhammadan Light is
therefore a primary substance for the creation of the heavens and
the earth and what is in them..." Even Ismael Dehlvi and Ashraf
Thanvi [Founders of the Wahhabi Deobandi movement] accept that
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is Allahs first creation. [4]
13
THE DIVINE LIGHT
"From Allah has come to you a Light [Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him)] and a Book manifest." [Surah Maidah 15]

That Light (in the above verse) is the Prophet (peace be upon him).
He was named a light because he enlightens the sight and guides it
to the correct path; and also because he is the root of every light
whether material or spiritual. [Imam Ahmad al-Sawi commentary on
Tafsir al-Jalalayn [5]]

Light upon Light [Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)]. (Surah
Nur 35)

Ibn Jubayr and Ka`b al-Ahbar said: "What is meant by the second
light is the Prophet (peace be upon him) because he is the
Messenger and the Expositor and the Conveyor from Allah of what is
enlightening and manifest." [Imam Suyuti-al-Riyad al-Aniqa [5]]

It is true that the Prophet (peace be upon him) can be viewed as light
in the context of bring guidance to the whole world, but equally it is
true that the essence of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
made of light.

Some persons believe that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be
upon him) is only a human being and not Nur (light). They say so
based on the reason that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) had
wives, had children, and he used to eat and drink. The belief
(Aqeeda) of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah is that he is both Light
(Nur) and a human being (Bashr).

The existence of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) predates
everything in existence, but when he came into this world he came in
the garb of a human being.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has stated, "The
very first thing which Almighty Allah created was my Nur." [Tafsir
Roohul Bayaan; Madarijun Nabuiwat]
14
Beings made of Nur can take human form
The Qur'an mentions that angels came in the form of humans to
Prophet Ibrahim (peace be on him), Prophet Lut (peace be on him)
and the Hadiths mention about angel Jibraeel (peace be on him)
talking to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the form of
human being.

The Companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) lived with
him and observed him with his wives and children. They saw him
eating; drinking; talking, etc. but still accepted him to be Nur.

We know that Jibraeel (peace be on him) is made of Nur but when
he used to appear before Maryam (Allah be pleased with her) he
used to appear in the form of a human being. Allah states in the Holy
Quran: "Thus he used to appear before her in the form of a
healthy (well-built) man." (Surah Maryam 17)

Umar Farouk (Allah be pleased with him) narrates that once a
person came before them. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be
upon him) asked him if he knew who that person was, he replied:
"Allah and His beloved Rasool (peace be upon him) know better."
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that it was Jibraeel (peace be
on him). [Mishkaat; Bukhari Sharif]

This Hadith confirms that although the Companions referred to
Jibraeel (peace be on him) as a man since they saw him in the form
of a human being, yet they accepted that he was in actual fact an
Angel made from Nur. On many occasions, he came in the form of a
companion named Wahia Kalbi (Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyida Halima Sa'adiya (Allah be pleased with her), the wet-nurse
of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), believed the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) to be Nur. She said that when she used to feed
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) milk in his infancy, she never
felt the need for a light in her house. [Bayaanul Miladun Nabwi;
Tafsir Mazhari]

Sayyida Safiya (Allah be pleased with her), the aunt of the Holy
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) states that on the eve of
the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) she
15
was present in his house. She said that she saw his Nur became
more powerful than the light from the lamp. [Shawaahidun Nubuiwat]

Ali Murtaza (Allah be pleased with him) said that when the Beloved
of Allah (peace be upon him) spoke, Nur (light) used to be seen
emerging from between his blessed teeth. [Muwahibul Laduniya;
Anwaarul Muhammadiyah]

Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with him) states that when the
beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) smiled, then the walls use to
glow with his Nur. [Muwahibul Laduniya; Shifa Sharif]

Anas (Allah be pleased with him) states that the day in which the
Prophet (peace be upon him) arrived in Madinatul Munawwarah,
everything in Madinatul Munawwarah became bright through his Nur.
[Tirmizi Sharif; Ibn Majah]

Ummul Mo'mineen, Sayyida Aisha Siddiqa (Allah be pleased with
her) is recorded to have said: "In total dark nights, I used to put
thread into a needle with the help of the Nur of the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him)." [Shara Shifa Bar Hashia Naseemur Riaz]

Imam-e-Azam Abu Hanifa (Allah be pleased with him) alludes to the
Nur of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in the following poem:
"You are that Nur that the full Moon is brightened by your Nur and
you are with your beauty and elegance a shining sun." [Qasidaul
Nu'maan]

Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reports: I
asked: "O Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him), what did the
Almighty Allah first create?" The Prophet (peace be upon him)
replied: "Allah first created my Nur (Light) of His Nur. This Nur
travelled about according to the Will of Allah. At that time, there was
no Heaven, Hell, Lauh (Divine Tablet), Pen, Earth, Skies, Sun,
Moon, Jinn or Human Beings. When He decided to create, He
divided that Nur into four parts. From one part He created the Pen,
from the second, the Lauh and from the third, he made the Arsh
(Throne).
16
"He divided the fourth part into a further four parts. From one, He
created those Angels who carry the Arsh, from the second, the Kursi
(Divine Chair) and from the third, He created the Angels.

"He again divided the remaining parts into a further four parts. From
one, He created the skies. The second was used in creating the
planets. From the third, Heaven and Earth were created.

"Once again, He divided the fourth part into a further four parts.
From one part He created the power with which the believers see.
From the second, He created in the hearts of the Believers the Nur
of Marifat. From the third, He created in the tongues of the Believers,
Nur, so that they can read the Kalima of Tauheed". [Dalaa'il-un-
Nubuwwat, Imam Baihaqi]

17
THE UNIQUE HUMAN BEING
"Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad) the
best of examples, for any one whose hope is in Allah and the
Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise and
Remembrance of God." (Surah al-Azhab 21)

Some people believe the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to be a
human being (Bashr) just like any other human being. The Ahle
Sunnah Wal Jamaah believes that besides being Nur (light), the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is a most unique and perfect
human being.

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is "Rahmatul lil Alameen". He
is the only creation of Allah who has been given this title and no
other creation can be given this title. Allah says in the Holy Quran:
"And We have not sent you but as Mercy unto the Worlds".
[Surah al Ambiya 107]

Messenger for the entire creation
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has stated:
"Every Prophet only comes towards his people and I have been sent
unto all nations. I have been sent as a Messenger unto the entire
creation." [Mishkaat Sharif; Sahih Muslim Sharif]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) stopped his Companions from
keeping continuous fasting without partaking in food throughout the
day or night. When the Companions (Allah be pleased with them)
insisted that they also fast in the manner as Prophet (peace be upon
him) kept his fasts, he told them: "I am not like (similar to) you. I am
given food and water [from divine sources]." [Sahih Bukhari; Sahih
Muslim]

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I am not like any one
of you". [Tirmidhi; Sahih Bukhari]
Ali (Allah be pleased with him) said: "I have not seen anybody similar
to the Prophet (peace be upon him) either before or after." [Tarikhe
Kabeer; Tirmidhi Sharif]
None of the Companions (Allah be pleased with them) ever stated
that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is a human being like them,
18
that he has two hands and feet like them, that he eats and drinks like
them and that he has wives and children like them.

Concerning the blessed face of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him), Aisha Siddiqa (Allah be pleased with her) states: "I was sewing
something at the time of dawn and the needle fell down. I searched
very much for it, but it could not be found. Just then the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) entered and, through the brightness of his face,
I found the needle." [Khasaais Kubra; Al-Qaulul Badi'lisaqawi]

The saliva of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is not unclean
nor does it cause any illness, but it is the cure for illnesses. On the
day of Khaibar, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) put his
blessed saliva into Ali's (Allah be pleased with him) eyes and he was
completely cured. [Mishkaat Sharif; Musnad Imam Ahmed]

The well at Ali's (Allah be pleased with him) house was very bitter.
When the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) put his saliva into the
well, the water became so sweet that no water in the entire of
Madinah Munawwarah tasted sweeter than that. [Madarijun
Nubuwat; Anwaarul Muhammadiyah]

Best perfume amongst all perfumes
The blessed perspiration of Muhammad Mustapha (peace be upon
him) possessed a sweet smelling fragrance. Umme Salim (Allah be
pleased with her), the mother of Anas (Allah be pleased with him),
said that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) used to go to the
house of Umme Salim (Allah be pleased with her) to make Qailula
(rest after lunch). Umme Salim (Allah be pleased with her) used to
lay for him a bedspread made from skin. He used to lie on that skin
and he perspired very much. Umme Salim (Allah be pleased with
her) used to collect the blessed perspiration of the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) and mix it in perfume. The Prophet (peace be
upon him) asked, "O Umme Salim! What is this?" She said, "Oh
Prophet (peace be upon him)! It is your blessed perspiration. I mix it
in my perfume because your blessed perspiration is the best
perfume amongst all perfumes." [Mishkaat Sharif; Bukhari Sharif]

The blessed blood of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is pure.
During the Battle of Uhud, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
19
was wounded. Malik bin Sunaan (Allah be pleased with him), the
father of Abu Saeed Khudri (Allah be pleased with him), began to
suck out the blood from the wound of the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him) and it began to look white. The Companions asked him to
spit it out. He refused to do so and said, "I swear by Allah that I will
never spit this blood out of my mouth." He then drank the blessed
blood of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). The Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) said, "Whichever one of you wishes to see a
man of Jannah, you should look at him (Malik bin Sunaan)". [Shifa
Sharif; Madarijun Nubuwat]

Allamah Ahmad Qistilaani (Allah be pleased with him), the
commentator of Bukhari Sharif, states: "Make yourself aware that the
physical body of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was created
in such a way that no one was created similar to him before and nor
will there be any one similar who will be born after him." [Muwahibul
Ladaniyah] [6]

No Shadow
"The shadow of the Prophet (peace be upon him) could not be seen
in the brightness of the sun, nor in moonlight". [Hakeem Tirmidhi -
Nawaadirul-Usool]

"The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had no shadow, not
while standing in the sun, but the brilliance of his light (nur)
surpassed the rays of the sun; nor while sitting before a burning light,
but his luminous light excelled the lustre of the light". [Ibn al-Jawzi -
Kitabul-Wafa]

"Allah Almighty does not let your (Prophet) shadow fall on the
ground, so that no foot of man can fall on it". [Imam Nasafi in his
Tafseer Madaarik]

"This is also a unique feature of the Prophet that his shadow did not
touch the ground, because he was light (nur), and (peace be upon
him) when he used to walk in the sunshine his shadow could not be
seen." [Imam Jalaaluddeen Suyuti - Khasaa'is al-Kubra]

THE LIVING PROPHET
Allah and His angels shower blessings (continuously) on The
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). Oh believers! Send your
benedictions on him (i.e. ask Allah to bless him) and salute him
with a worthy salutation. (I.e. with respect and love) [Surah
Azhab 56]

Endless Salaams from Allah
The word 'yusalluna' [i.e. showering or sending] in 'yusalluna alan
Nabi' in the above verse of the Holy Quran is 'sighah al-istimraar' or
mudarriya; it stands for a continuous action. An action, which never
ceases! (Past, perfect, continuous verb) Allah (Almighty and Glorious
is He) has been sending Salaam on His beloved Prophet (Peace be
upon him and his family) since time immemorial and will continue to
do so until there remains no creation to recite salaat-o-salaam, i.e.
this creation ceases to exist. Is this something ordinary that we can
ignore or pass by, heedlessly? Allah has blessed and will continue to
bless His Prophet (Peace be upon him and his family) abundantly.
The flow of blessings on the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him and
his family) is continuous and in abundance. That is what is meant by
al-Kauthar. From this abundance of blessings, the Holy Prophet
(Peace be upon him and his family) will liberate sinners from hell. He
will give them charity from his abundance. He is a mercy for us here
as our guide and he will be a mercy for us in the world to come. [7]

Do ask yourselves at this juncture why Allah and His angels would
send blessing upon someone the diseased ignoramuses claim to be
only a human being and turned to dust? Just this question is
enough to dismiss the false arrogant lies and slurs of these
unseemly people who claim to follow the Quran and Sunnah.

Some people do not accept the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to
be alive. They say that he is dead and mixed with the soil, Allah
forbid! The Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah believes that the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) is "Living Prophet (Hayaatun Nabi", that is, he
is alive both physically and spiritually.

Regarding the Martyrs (Shuhada), those who are slain in the path of
Allah, Allah says in the Holy Quran: "And say not of those who
21
are slain in the Way of Allah 'They are dead'. Nay, they are
living, though you perceive it not". [Surah al Baqarah 154]

Since it is evident from the Holy Quran that the Martyrs are alive,
then it follows that the Prophets (peace be on them), whose status
are much greater than that of the Martyrs, are also alive. [Fathul
Baari Sharah Bukhari]

"Think not of those who are slain in Allah's Way as dead. Nay,
they are alive, finding their sustenance in the Presence of their
Lord". [Surah al-Ale' Imraan 169]

The above two Ayahs were revealed after the Battle of Badr. The
Companions (Allah be pleased with them) used to feel sorry for
those who lost their lives in the battle, and used to say: "Alas, so and
so has lost his life and has missed the pleasures of this world!" Allah
revealed these Ayahs clarifying that the Shuhada (Martyrs) are not
"dead" but are transferred from one place to another where they live
and are fed by the Bounteous Lord who is not deficient of anything. If
the Shuhada are not "dead", how can we say that the greatest
Apostle, the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), is no more amongst
us?

Another proof supporting that the Prophets are alive is that on the
night of Miraj, the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)
passed by Moosa (peace be on him). He saw him in his grave
standing and reading his Salaah.

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Recite Durood upon
me in abundance on a Friday since it is a respected day. On that day
the Angels are present and whosoever sends Durood upon me on
that day, then his Durood is placed before me till the time when they
have completed sending Durood and Salaam". Abu Dardah (Allah be
pleased with him) says), "I asked, 'O Prophet (peace be upon him)!
Will you even hear (the Salaam) after your passing away from this
world?'" The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Verily Almighty
Allah has made it Haraam upon the earth to devour the bodies of the
Prophets (peace be on them). Thus, all the Prophets of Allah are
alive and they are given sustenance." [Ibn Majah; Jame Sahgeer;
Mishkaat Sharif]
22
We learn from this Hadith Sharif that the Prophets (peace be on
them) are alive and they have only been hidden from us. We cannot
understand their position, like those of the Angels that they are alive
and present but we cannot see them. Yes! Those whom Allah has
blessed, they can even see them. This has been confirmed that the
Prophets (peace be on them) are alive. [Umdatul Qaari Shara
Bukhari]

Sheikh Abdul Haqq Muhadith Dehlvi (Allah be pleased with him)
wrote: "There is no death for the Prophets (peace be on them). They
are alive and existing. For them is that one death that has come only
once. After this, their souls are put back into their bodies and the life
that they had on earth is given back to them." [Takmeelul Imaan]

The greatest proof concerning the Prophets (peace be on them)
being alive is that they make Ibaadah in their graves. They perform
their Salaah and they are well provided with food and drink. Like the
Angels who are alive, but do not eat and drink. [Mirkaat Shar
Mishkaat]

Allah states in the Holy Quran: "And how would you deny faith
while unto you are rehearsed the Signs of Allah and among you
lives the Prophet". [Surah al- Ale'Imraan 101]

This is a typical Ayah proving Hayat-un-Nabi - "among you lives the
Prophet". The word "lives" has cleared all doubts. "Among you" has
been generalised, meaning with every individual, wherever he or she
may be regardless of time. Man's vision and power of hearing is
restricted, but it is not so in the case of Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him). His powers are far beyond imagination. If somebody says,
"Where is the Prophet (peace be upon him)? I cannot see him! Why
must I stand and read Salaam?" Surely, this statement is absurd
because none of us has seen Allah and the Angels. Kiraaman
Katibeen are two Angels constantly present with every individual.
Can we deny their existence merely because we do not see them?
It was declared in a Hadith, "When a person greets me, Allah sends
my soul to my body and I hear his greeting." Some people quoting
this Hadith say that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is not alive
since his soul returns to his body only when he is greeted.
23
Imam Jalaal'uddeen as-Suyuti (Allah be pleased with him) said in the
book "Anba' al-adhkiya' fi hayat il-anbiya" that "radda" means "ala al-
dawam", i.e. permanently, and not temporarily: in other words, Allah
does not return the soul and take it back, then return it again and
then take it back again, but He has returned it to Prophet (peace be
upon him) permanently, and the Prophet (peace be upon him) is
alive permanently, not intermittently as some ignorant people have
suggested.

24
THE INTERCESSOR
It is near [the day] that your Lord may make you stand at a
place [Al-Maqam -al-Mahmud, the Station of Intercession] where
all should praise you [Surah Israel 79]

Station of Intercession
On the Day of Resurrection the people will fall on their knees and
every nation will follow their prophet and they will say, "O so-and-so!
Intercede (for us with Allah), till (the right of) intercession is given to
the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and that will be the
day when Allah will raise him to a station of praise and glory (Al-
Maqam -al-Mahmud). [Bukhari]

Some people believe that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
does not have the power to intercede. The belief of the Ahle Sunnah
Wal Jamaah is that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is an
Intercessor and that he will intercede on the Day of Qiyamah by the
permission of Allah Ta'ala. Allah says in the Holy Quran: "Who is
he that would intercede with Him except with His permission.
He knows what is before them and what is behind them." [Surah
al Baqara 255]

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) has been given the station of
Maqaam-e-Mahmud. Maqaam-e-Mahmud is that point on
intercession where all will praise and honour the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him). [Tafsir Khaazin; Tafsir Jalalayn]

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I will intercede for my
Ummah until my Creator summons me, 'O Muhammad! Have you
been pleased?' I will say, 'O my Creator! I am pleased'". [Durr
Manthur; Roohul Bayaan]

Abi bin Ka'ab (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "On the Day of Judgment, I will
be the Leader and spokesperson of all the Prophets (peace be on
them) and I will be the master of their intercession. I do not say this
out of arrogance." [Mishkaat Sharif; Ash'atul Lam'aat]
25
The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) stated: "On the Day of
Qiyamah, I will be the leader of the children of Adam (peace be on
him) I will be the first to rise from my grave. I will be the first to start
interceding and my intercession will be the first to be accepted."
[Mishkaat Sharif; Sahih Muslim Sharif]

On the Day of Qiyamah, all the people will congregate and they will
say among themselves, "We wish we could find some one to
intercede for us in the Court of Allah so that He may give us comfort
at this point." They will go to Adam (peace be on him) and ask him to
intercede for them. He will tell them to go to Nooh (peace be on him)
as he is the first Prophet that Allah sent towards the people on earth.

Nooh (peace be on him) will tell them to go to Ibrahim (peace be on
him) as he is the Friend of Allah Ta'ala. He in turn will tell them to go
to Moosa (peace be on him) as he is a special servant of Allah
Ta'ala. He will say to them to go to Isa (peace be on him) as he is
the special servant and Rasool of Allah Ta'ala, and His Word and
His Spirit.

The people will then present themselves before 'Isa (peace be on
him) who will say, "This is not a task for me. Go into the court of
Muhammad (peace be upon him) who is a unique servant of
Almighty Allah and it is through him that Almighty Allah has forgiven
those before and after him." Then the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him) said, "They will come to me. I will ask for permission in the
Court of Almighty Allah and permission will be granted. When I see
Almighty Allah, I will make Sajdah and Almighty Allah will say, 'O
Muhammad (peace be upon him)! Lift up your head, ask, request
and it will be given, and intercession will be accepted'." [Bukhari
Sharif; Ibn Majah]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) will then intercede. After him, the
great Prophets and Saints will intercede. Those who say that the
Prophet (peace be upon him) cannot intercede, how will it be
permissible on the Day of Judgment?

26
THE BENEFACTOR
"And O Beloved, We have sent you not but as mercy unto the
worlds." [Part 17 Ruku 7]

Commentating on this verse of the Holy Quran, Allamah Aaloosi
(Allah be pleased with him) has stated, "And the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) being mercy unto the worlds is in this context
that throughout the entire universe, his control is present through the
Blessing of Allah Ta'ala. This is why the Nur of the Prophet (peace
be upon him) was the first thing to be created and it is in the Ahadith,
' O Jabir! Almighty Allah had first created the Nur of your Prophet
(peace be upon him)' and in the next Hadith it is said that, 'Almighty
Allah is the Giver and I am the distributor." [Tafsir Roohul Muaani]

Some misguided persons believe that the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him) is powerless, that he does not possess the power to give
benefit or cause loss to anybody. The belief of the Ahle Sunnah Wal
Jamaah is that Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) has been blessed
by Allah with the powers to give benefit or loss to anybody if he
wishes.

The following verses of the Holy Quran prove this. Allah states in the
Holy Quran: "And if when they do injustice unto their souls,
then O Beloved! They should come to you and then beg
forgiveness of Allah and the Messenger should intercede for
them, then surely, they would find Allah Most Relenting,
Merciful." [Surah an-Nissa ayat 64]

It is mentioned in the Holy Quran that Isa (peace be on him) made a
bird out of clay, blew into it, and then, with the Command of Allah
Ta'ala, it began to fly. The Holy Quran also mentions that 'Isa
(peace be on him) cured the blind, the lepers and brought back the
dead to life with the Command of Allah Ta'ala.

All these incidents prove that Prophet 'Isa (peace be on him) was
able to give benefit to those who sought his assistance. How can
one dispute that our Prophet Muhammad Mustapha (peace be upon
him), who is superior to Prophet 'Isa (peace be upon him), is not in
control of giving benefit or loss to anyone?
27
It is also stated in the Holy Quran that through the blessings of
Yusuf (peace be on him), Yaqoob (peace be on him) regained his
sight. Is the returning of the sight of Yaqoob (peace be on him) not a
benefit and advantage? Verily it is! Thus, if benefit can be gained
through the other Prophets (peace be on them), how then can a
Muslim say that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) cannot give
us benefit or loss?

Once, Maghir (Allah be pleased with him) committed a grave sin so
he went to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and
asked him to purify him. Although the companion had sinned against
Allah Ta'ala, he asked the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to
purify and cleanse him because he knew that the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) would give benefit to him. The Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him) said, "I am the one who distributes and
Almighty Allah is the One who gives." [Bukhari; Umdatul Qari]

In Paradise with you
Rabia (Allah be pleased with him) said in the court of the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him): "I ask from you that I may be in
Paradise (Jannah) with you." [Mishkaat; Mirkaat]

It is obvious from these Ahadith that the Holy Prophet (peace be
upon him) is the one who distributes throughout the universe and he
who is a distributor in the entire universe definitely has the power of
giving benefit.

28
THE KNOWER OF THE UNSEEN
"the knower of the Unseen and He reveals unto none His secret
save unto every messenger whom He has chosen" [Surah al-
Jinn 26-27]

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "My Lord came to me in
the best image and asked me over what did the angels of the
higher heaven vie, and I said I did not know, so He put His hand
between my shoulders, and I felt its coolness in my innermost,
and the knowledge of all things between the East and the West
came to me." In Tirmidhi (hasan sahih)

Some people do not accept that the Holy Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon him) has been blessed by Allah with Ilm-e -Ghayb
(Knowledge of the Unseen). The Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah believes
that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), after being informed by
Allah Ta'ala, is aware of everything that happened and will happen.

"Ghayb" is that hidden thing which cannot be perceived by human
senses nor can be known through human wisdom. The Holy Quran
has mentioned Ilm-e-Ghayb in several verses and has declared that
this Knowledge is one of the Attributes of Allah. "Say thou, (O
Muhammad)! The Knowledge of Unseen belongeth unto Allah
alone." [Surah Yunus, 10:20] See also Surah Ana'm 59; Surah
Baqarah 33; Surah Hud 31.

These verses indicate that the Knowledge of Unseen belongs to
Allah Alone. Nobody on his own has this knowledge nor can
anybody possess this Divine Treasure. However, these verses have
nowhere indicated Allah to say that He does not grant this
Knowledge of Unseen to anybody.

Allah says: "Allah Alone is the Knower of the Unseen. He never
grants the Knowledge of His Ghayb to anyone but to His
chosen Messengers and appoints guard before them and
behind them." [Surah Jinn 26-27]

The Holy Quran has mentioned at various places that Allah has
granted the Knowledge of Unseen to His exalted Prophets. See
29
Surah Baqarah 31; Surah Baqarah 251; Surah Naml 16; Surah al
Ambiya 74; Surah Yusuf 68; Surah Yusuf 96; Surah Qasas 14.

The Knowledge of Unseen was also given to the Holy Prophet
(peace be upon him). This was his biggest miracle. The Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) was granted the knowledge equivalent
to the knowledge which was given to 124 000 or more Prophets.

Allahs Great Favour
The Quran says: "And, O Beloved (Prophet)! If there had not
been the Grace and Mercy of Allah upon you, then some people
of them had wished to defraud you. And they are misleading
themselves only and they will not hurt you in anything. And
Allah has sent down to you the Book of Wisdom and has taught
you what you did not know and great is the favour of Allah upon
you." [Surah Nisa 113]

The Holy Quran says: "These are the tidings of Unseen that We
reveal to you in secret. And you were not with them when they
drew lots with their pen that under whose guardianship Maryam
should be given and you were not with then when they were
disputing." [Surah Ale Imraan 44]

In this verse, the Holy Quran gives the reason of mentioning the
episodes of the past Prophets. Allah says: O Beloved One! These
episodes are not mentioned as mere tales of the past. We have
mentioned these events to prove your Prophethood. The Knowledge
of Unseen will become the testimony of your special status as the
Apostle of Allah Ta'ala. O Prophet! These are among those events of
which the accurate records are now obliterated altogether, and there
is no means of knowing in full and exact details except by
Revelation.

The phrase "tidings of the Unseen" indicate that Allah has given the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) the knowledge of those things,
which happened long before him or to happen in the distant future.

The Holy Quran, which was revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon
him), contained everything that he would need in religion and in
world affairs as well. The Holy Quran says that Allah taught His
30
Beloved the Quran. He created Muhammad (peace be upon him)
the soul of the Mankind and taught him the knowledge of the past
and the present.

The Holy Quran says: "And taught you that which you knew not.
And this is a great favour of Allah upon you." [Surah Nisa 113]

Tafsir-e-Jalalayn says Allah taught His Apostle (peace be upon him)
the commandments and the Unseen. Tafsir-e-Kabir observes that
Allah revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) the Holy Quran,
and the knowledge, and taught him the Divine Secrets, and
implications. Tafsir-e-Jalalayn says that Allah taught the Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) the Shari'ah Laws and the religion, and
taught him the Unseen, which he knew not, and gave him the
knowledge of that which was hidden in the human mind, and
disclosed to him the evil doings of the hypocrites.

Tafsir-e-Hussaini Bahrul Haqaeq says that the above verse refers to
the absolute knowledge of all Unseen which Allah granted to
Muhammad (peace be upon him) during the Miraj. The Hadith of
Miraj reports the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) as saying: "I was
beneath the Arsh when Allah put a drop into my throat and (with that)
I attained the knowledge of the past and the future."

Commentators observe that Allah has created the Preserved Tablet
(Lauh-e-Mahfooz), a Tablet on which the Destinies of the world since
its creation are written. It contains the Knowledge of all possible
things. The knowledge of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
encompasses the Lauh. The Holy Quran contains whatever is
written in the Lauh and since the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)
has been taught the Quran, he has the Knowledge of the Lauh-e-
Mahfooz.

Allah showed Adam (peace be on him) all His creatures in person
and made him learn the things by their names. Allah taught him the
names of those who would be in his generation and also taught him
all the languages. Allah also taught him the Names of Angels and all
human beings who would belong to his generation, and the names of
animals and vegetation, and taught him to manufacture things, and
taught him the names of the cities and towns, and trees, and the
31
names of those whom He will create until Doomsday, and taught him
the names of all the gifts in Paradise.

The fact that Allah has granted Muhammad (peace be upon him) the
Knowledge of Unseen can be confirmed as follows:

1. Firstly, he was given the Knowledge of the Unseen directly:
"These tidings of Unseen, We reveal to you. Neither you did
know nor your people before this. then be patient. No doubt
there is good for the duty-bound." [Surah Hud 49] See also Surah
Yusuf 102; Surah Takvir 24.

2. He was given the Quran, which is the treasure house of the
Knowledge of the Unseen: "O People of the Book! Undoubtedly,
Our Messenger has come to you who makes clear to you much
of that which you had hidden in the Book and pardons much.
Undoubtedly, there has come to you from Allah a Light and a
Book Luminous." [Surah Maidah 15] See also Surah Nahl 89;
Surah Yusuf 111; Surah Anam 38; Surah Naml 75; Surah Anam
59].

3. He was sent as a witness. A witness can only be that person who
is present at the place and time of happening and sees everything by
himself. "Surely we have sent you as a witness (present and
seeing) and a bearer of Glad Tidings and a Warner." [Surah Fath
8] See also Surah Nisa, 41; Surah Muzzammil 15.

These verses prove that Muhammad (peace be upon him) will stand
witness on the Day of Judgment. He will not only bear witness for his
own Ummah but also for the Ummah of other Prophets.

The following Hadith of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) also
indicate that Muhammad (peace be upon him) has been granted
comprehensive Knowledge of Unseen:

1. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "I can see behind me
just as well as I can see in front for me." [Sahih Muslim]

32
2. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was going from Medina to
Mecca. Then he saw Yunus (peace be on him) wearing a woollen
garb and riding a red she-camel in the valley of Hersh. [Ibn-e-Majah]

3. Another Hadith reports Muhammad (peace be upon him)
beholding the Paradise and the Hell. [Muslim]

4. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) knows the name of
each inmate of the Heaven and the Hell. [Mishkaat]

5. Another Hadith reports that a man asked the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him) whether he (the man) would go to
Paradise or Hell. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that he (the
man) would go to Hell. [Bukhari]

6. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "My Ummah has
been presented to me along with its good and bad deeds." [Muslim]

7. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Last night my
Ummah was presented to me near my house. I know each and every
person more intimately than you know about your colleagues."
[Anba-el-Mustafa]

8. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is reported to have said:
"Allah has shrunk the earth for me so I could see its easts and
wests." [Mishkaat]

9. Huzaifa (Allah be pleased with him) has reported: "The Apostle of
Allah, Muhammad (peace be upon him), informed us about three
hundred or more persons who would appear on the face of the earth
and generate tension and crises among the Muslims. The Apostle of
Allah (peace be upon him) told us their names along with their
fathers names and their tribes as well." [Mishkaat]

10. And, finally, what can be hidden from the person who could see
Allah Ta'ala! The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) says: "I saw
Allah the Almighty. Allah put His Hand on my back and I felt its
coolness in my chest. That very moment, everything became known
to me and I recognized everything." [Tirmidhi; Mishkaat]

33
THE PRESENT AND BEHOLDING
We have sent you as a present beholder and bearer of glad
tidings and a warner. [Surah 33:45]

I am seeing the dwellers of Paradise
Once Harith ibn Numaan (Allah be pleased with him) went to visit
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Holy Prophet (peace
be upon him) asked him, O Harith, how did you find the day? I
replied By being a true Mumin (believer). The Messenger (peace
be upon him) said, What is the reality of your Iman (faith)? I replied,
As if I am seeing the Divine Throne manifestly. And as if I am seeing
the dwellers of Paradise greeting each other and the dwellers of Hell
making noise. [Imam Abu Hanifa - Fiqh al Akbar and Imam
Jalaal'uddeen Suyuti in Jamaa Al-kabeer]

Maulana Rumi (Allah be pleased with him) commenting on this event
says, When that is the state of an Atom of the Suns vision
(meaning Harith) that he sees heaven, hell, the Throne, the Earth,
People of heaven and hell with his own eyes, what can one say
about the vision of the Sun of the Universe (meaning the Holy
Prophet) peace be upon him? [Masnavi]

Shaikh Abd al-Haqq Muhadith Dehlvi (Allah be pleased with him)
states: "Allah has given the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) the
strength and power to go anywhere he likes; he can go with his own
body or only in soul. On the earth, in the sky, in the grave and the
Holy Prophet's (peace be upon him) connection stays with his own
shrine.'' [Madarijun Nubuwat]

Some people believe that Allah is "Omnipresent", that is, Allah is
Present and Over-looking at every time and at every place. They
believe Allah to be "Haazir (Present)" and "Naazir (Seeing)". This is
not true, as Allah is not bound by time and space. Allah is Present
and Seeing from eternity without time and without space.

Allah Ta'ala's Attributes, namely, Life, Knowledge, Power and
Speech, are without time and without place, so are Allah Ta'ala's
other attributes. Allah Ta'ala's Attributes always exists and will
continue to exist till eternity. There is a great difference between
34
Allah being Present and the souls of His creation being present. No
one is present like Allah being Present.

The Angels, the souls of Prophets, the souls of the Awliya Allah and
the souls of pious Muslims are present at any place where they are
called. They were non-existent, before being present. They will seize
to exist after a while. The souls of the creation were absent before
they became present and will be absent some time later. The
presence of the souls is with time and with place. Now that we have
explained the concept of Allah being Present and clarified our
position with regards to the station of the souls in this respect, we will
explain the concept of Haazir (present) and Naazir (over-looking) of
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

It is the belief of the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah that the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him) is given power by Allah to be
Haazir and Naazir (Present and beholding). Some persons say that
the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaah believes that the Holy Prophet
Muhammad (peace be upon him) is present like Allah is Present.
This is totally false because the Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah does not
have such a belief. The Ulema have used the words "Haazir-o-
Naazir" for the Prophet (peace be upon him).

Allah states in the Holy Quran "How then if I brought from each
people a Witness and brought you (O Muhammad) as a Witness
against these people". [Surah al-Nisa: 41]

This confirms that each Prophet is a Witness for his Ummah, for
those who accept Allah and those who reject Him. It also confirms
that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) was present before each
Ummah, witnessing their deeds. On the Day of Qiyamah, when they
will be questioned about their deeds, they will deny it. Then, Allah
will bring the Final Messenger (peace be upon him) as a Witness
and he will testify because he was present there when they were
practicing evil.

Imam Khaazin (Allah be pleased with him) states, "To be a witness
means to be 'Haazir' or present." [Tafsir Khaazin]

Sheikh Abdul Haqq Muhadith Dehlvi (Allah be pleased with him)
writes: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) is Haazir-o-Naazir on the
deeds of his Community (Ummah)". [Haashiya Akhbarul Akhyaar]

Allah states in the Holy Quran: "O Prophet! Truly, We have sent
you as a Witness, a Bearer of Glad Tidings and a Warner".
[Surah al-Ahzab: 45]

Here Allah says that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is a
witness sent by Him concerning men's deeds and how they receive
Allah Ta'ala's Message. In order to give evidence, a witness has to
be present and watching. Even in the Court of Law, a witness is
asked, "Did you see the incident taking place?"

Allah states in the Holy Quran: "And the Apostle is a Witness
over yourselves." [Surah al-Baqarah 144)]

Commenting on this Ayah, Shah Abdul Aziz Muhadith Dehlvi (Allah
be pleased with him) writes: "The Prophet (peace be upon him) is
observing everybody, knows their good and bad deeds, and knows
the strength of Imaan of every individual Muslim and what has
hindered his spiritual progress." (Tafsir Azizi)

Allah states in the Holy Quran: "And keep thy soul content with
those who call on their Lord morning and evening, seeking His
face and let not thine eyes pass beyond them." [Surah Kahf 28]

In this verse Allah is asking Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) to
keep a close watch on those people who seek Him. He is asked to
observe them day and night. Note that no limitation has been
imposed - "observe them during your life and after you assume a veil
of departure". This is another proof that the Prophet (peace be upon
him) is watching us 24 hours a day!

Allah states in the Holy Quran: "The Prophet (peace be upon him)
is closer to the Believers than their own selves". [Surah al-Ahzab
6]

Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is with every Muslim. (N.B. Not
every Muslim, but every "Mu'min" among the Muslims). That is the
36
reason why the non-Mu'mins feel that Holy Prophet - peace be upon
him - is far from them. But it is they who are far from the beloved of
Allah (peace be upon him). The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
closer to them than they are to their own selves, irrespective of time
and place. He is witnessing their deeds. Allah gives this power to
him.

It is reported by Abdullah bin Umar (Allah be pleased with him) that
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed this entire world is
in front of me so that I can observe everything in it. I can see
everything in this world and everything that will take place till the Day
of Qiyamah. I see the entire world as I see the palm of my hand".
[Mawahib-e-Ladunnia]

This Hadith Sharif substantiates the belief of the Ahle Sunnah Wal
Jamaah that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is Haazir and
Naazir.

Qazi Abu Iyaaz (Allah be pleased with him) writes in his "Shifa" that
Amr bin Dinar (Allah be pleased with him), a Taba'in and Faqih of
Makkatul Mukarramah, said: "If you enter a house and find that there
is nobody there, say 'May Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)'".

Writing a commentary on this Hadith Sharif, Mullah Ali Qari (Allah be
pleased with him) says: "This is so because the soul of the Prophet
(peace be upon him) is present in every Muslim home".

Ali Hameed Saaidi (Allah be pleased with him) has reported that the
Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "If any of you enters
the Mosque, send Salaams to me, followed by this Du'a: 'O Allah!
Open your Door of Blessing for me'". [Abu Dawud, Ibne Majah,
Baihaqi]

This Hadith confirms that Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is
present in every Mosque of this world and according to Islam, the
entire earth is a Mosque for the Muslims, as reported by Jabir bin
Abdullah (Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace
be upon him) said: "The entire earth has been made a Mosque for
me". [Bukhari Sharif)]
37
Thus, the Prophet (peace be upon him) is present everywhere on
earth!

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "I have been sent
towards all the creation of Almighty Allah." [Sahih Muslim Sharif;
Mishkaat Sharif]

This Hadith Sharif confirms that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is
being a witness for those towards whom he was sent as a Prophet.

It is written in an authentic Kitaab (book): "Even due to much
objections and differences in the opinions of the Ulema, one does
not have any doubt in this case that without any doubt and illusion,
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) is continuously alive and he is
Present and Seeing the deeds of his Ummah and he gives his mercy
towards those who turns towards him and he guides them."
[Maktoobat Sharif bar Haashia Akhbarul Akhyaar Sharif]

Hajji Imdaadullah Muhaajir Makki (Spiritual Mentor of the Wahhabi
Deobandi movement) writes: "Our Ulema fight in the issue of Milad
Sharif. The Ulema believed in its permissibility as well. When the
side of permissibility exists, why then is there so much hardness on
this issue? For us, it is sufficient to follow the people of Makkah and
Medina (Haramain). At the time of Qiyaam one should not have the
belief of Tawallud (that Prophet - peace be upon him- is born now).
The possibility of the arrival of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in
the Milad assembly is not wrong because the bodily world is
restricted to time and place, but the spiritual world is free from both.
So the arrival of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is not far from
being possible". [Shamaime Imdaadiya]

Imam Ahle Sunnat, Sayed Ahmed Sa'eed Qazmi (Allah be pleased
with him) states: "When the word Haazir-o-Naazir is used for
Prophet (peace be upon him), it does not mean that the physical
body of Prophet (peace be upon him) is everywhere and that he is
present in front of everybody. This in fact means that as the soul
exists in every part of the body similarly the light filled reality of the
Soul of both the worlds (peace be upon him) exists in every atom of
the worlds. Based on that, the Prophet (peace be upon him) arrives
with his spirituality and lightfulness in many places at one time. Many
38
times, the Pious observe the beauty of Prophet (peace be upon him)
in a state of wakefulness with their physical eyes". [Taskeenul
Khawatir fi Mas'alatil Haazir wan Naazir]

Thus we have learnt that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),
through the Light (Nur) of his Prophethood, knows the faith of every
faithful and the degree of his Imaan and also the obstacles which
stand in the way of a faithful's spiritual advancement. The Holy
Prophet (peace be upon him) knows our sins, and our spiritual
status, and our good and bad deeds, and our sincerity and
hypocrisy. His witness is the most acceptable in favour of his
Ummah.

The Soul of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) observes all
the souls and living beings. The deeds of the Ummah are presented
to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) every morning and
every evening and the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) recognizes
(each member) of his Ummah through their actions, and hence, he
would be a witness for them. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) is a witness for the Believers over their faith, for the non-
Believers over their apostasy and for the hypocrites over their dual
character.

There are some misled individuals who feel it appropriate to believe
that the Prophet (peace be upon him) has been restricted to his
Blessed Grave till the Day of Qiyamah and that it is out of his reach
to travel wherever he pleases and to make himself present wherever
he pleases.

Allah sent all the Prophets to our Prophet (peace be upon him) on
the night of Ascension (Miraj) night. He became the Imaam, and they
performed two rak'ahs of Salaah. It is thus seen that all the Prophets
(peace be upon them) made Haaziri (were present) in Masjid al-
Aqsa to perform Salaah with our Noble Prophet (peace be upon him)
being the Imaam. If Prophets cannot leave their Blessed Graves
then how is it that all of the Prophets (peace be upon them) were
present in Masjid al-Aqsa, on the blessed night of Miraj an-Nabi
which occurred long after the worldly demise of the other Prophets?

39
Prophet Attends Janaza
Imam Jalaaluddeen as-Suyuti (Allah be pleased with him) says, "To
keep watch of his own followers' work and to pray for their
forgiveness; to pray for their abstention from bad deeds; to come
and go in all parts of the world to give auspiciousness; if one pious
person dies from his followers then to come and attend his Janazah
(funeral), all this is done by the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him)".
[Intibahul Azkiyya]

It is narrated that, "For the Angel of Death the whole of the Earth is
like a tray, so that he may take the souls as he pleases. There is no
difficulty for the Angel of Death to take souls, even though there are
many and at many different places!" [Tafsir Kabir Khazeen; Ruh-ul-
Bayaan]

The speed of Jibraeel (peace be on him) is such that, when Prophet
Yusuf (peace be on him) was thrown into the well, Jibraeel (peace
be on him) travelled from Sidratul Muntaha to the bottom of the well.
When Prophet Ibrahim (peace be on him) was about to sacrifice
Prophet Ismail (peace be on him) and had his knife on the neck of
Prophet Ismail (peace be on him), Jibraeel (peace be on him),
travelled from furthest station on the seventh heaven to the earth
with a Ram.

The above events relate to an Angel and its abilities, but men of
Allah (Awliya Allah) are also imbued with such powers. Asaf ibn
Barkhiya's taking the throne of Bilqis (the Queen of Sheba) to
prophet Sulaiman (peace be on him) is also reported in the Holy
Quran, Surah Naml, Verses 39 and 40.

It is written in the book "Wahhabiyya": "Tayy al-masaafa, that is,
traversing long distances in a moment, is a Karaama (miracle)
bestowed upon Awliya. It is Waajib to believe in this."

Ibn Hajar al-Haitami (Allah be pleased with him) wrote in his Fatawa:
"The number of those who said that if a Wali (saint) goes to a very
distant place in the West (in a short time) after he has performed the
evening Salaat and if the sun has not set there yet, he need not
perform the evening Salaat for the second time at that place, are
many."
40
Concerning the questioning (of the dead person) in the grave, the
third question that will be asked by the Angels of the grave is, "Ma
kunta taqulu fi haqqi hazar rajul" (meaning: "What do you have to
say about this person?" (i.e. the Prophet (peace be upon him) When
this question is asked the veil is removed from the dead person's
eyes so that he can see the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) who
will be present (Haazir) in the grave. [Mishkaat Sharif; Bukhari]

From this Hadith we learn that the Prophet (peace be upon him) is
seen by the dead in person and not in some sort of mental thought,
because the word "hazar rajul" that is used in the question, in Arabic
grammar refers to a real person being present at that time and place
in the flesh! So it is established that every person that dies sees the
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in his grave in person. Now, at
any given time thousands of people around the world are buried and
all these people see the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) at the
same time and are asked the same question. This is ample proof
that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) by the Grace of Allah can
present himself in many places at the same time. All the 'Ulama of
Ahle Sunnah Wal Jamaah agree upon this.

41
THE GREATEST INTERMEDIARY
"O you who believe! Fear Allah and seek a means of approach
unto Him..."(Surah 5:35)

Supplicating Allah by means of an intermediary, whether it be a living
person, dead person, a good deed, or a name or Attribute of Allah
Most High.

The scholar, Yusuf Rifa'i, says: I here want to convey the position,
attested to by compelling legal evidence, of the orthodox majority of
Sunni Muslims on the subject of supplicating Allah through an
intermediary (tawassul), and so I say (and Allah alone gives
success) that since there is no disagreement among scholars that
supplicating Allah through an intermediary is in principle legally valid,
the discussion of its details merely concerns derived rulings that
involve interschool differences, unrelated to questions of belief or
unbelief, monotheism or associating partners with Allah (shirk); the
sphere of the question being limited to permissibility or
impermissibility, and its ruling being that it is either lawful or unlawful.
There is no difference among groups of Muslims in their consensus
on the permissibility of three types of supplicating Allah through an
intermediary (tawassul):

(1) TAWASSUL through a living righteous person to Allah Most High,
as in the Hadith of the blind man with the Prophet (Allah bless him
and grant him peace) as we shall explain;

(2) The TAWASSUL of a living person to Allah Most High through his
own good deeds, as in the Hadith of the three people trapped in a
cave by a great stone, a Hadith related by Imam Bukhari in his
"Sahih"

(3) And the TAWASSUL of a person to Allah Most High through His
Entity (Dhat), Names, Attributes, and so forth.

Since the legality of these types is agreed upon, there is no reason
to set forth the evidence for them. The only area of disagreement is
supplicating Allah (tawassul) through a righteous dead person. The
majority of the orthodox Sunni Community hold that it is lawful, and
42
have supporting Hadith evidence, of which we will content ourselves
with the Hadith of the Blind Man, since it is the central pivot upon
which the discussion turns.

The Hadith Of The Blind Man
Tirmidhi relates, through his chain of narrators from Uthman ibn
Hunayf, that a blind man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him)
and said, "I've been afflicted in my eyesight, so please pray to Allah
for me." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Go make ablution
(wudu), perform two rakahs of prayer, and then say: "Oh Allah, I ask
You and turn to You through my Prophet Muhammad (peace be
upon him), the Prophet of mercy; O Muhammad (peace be upon
him) (Ya Muhammad (peace be upon him)), I seek your intercession
with my Lord for the return of my eyesight [and in another version:
"for my need, that it may be fulfilled. O Allah, grant him intercession
for me"]."
The Prophet (peace be upon him) added, "And if there is some need
[in the future], do the same."

Scholars of Sacred Law infer from this Hadith the recommended
character of the "prayer of need," in which someone in need of
something from Allah Most High performs such a prayer and then
turns to Allah with this supplication together with other suitable
supplications, traditional or otherwise, according to the need and
how the person feels.

The express content of the Hadith confirms the legal validity of
"tawassul" through a living person (as the Prophet - peace be upon
him - was alive at that time). It implicitly confirms the validity of
tawassul through a deceased one as well, since tawassul through a
living or dead person is not through a physical body or through life or
death, but rather through the positive meaning (ma'na tayyib)
attached to the person in both life and death. The body is but the
vehicle that carries that significance, which requires that the person
be respected whether dead or alive; for the words "O
Muhammad"(peace be upon him) are an address to someone
physically absent - in which state the living and dead are alike - an
address to the meaning, dear to Allah, that is connected with his
spirit, a meaning that is the ground of "tawassul," be it through a
living or dead person.
43
The Hadith Of The Man In Need
A man repeatedly visited Uthman ibn Affan (Allah be pleased with
him) concerning something he needed, but Uthman paid no attention
to him or his need. The man met Ibn Hunayf and complained to him
about the matter - this being after the death (wisal) of the Prophet
(peace be upon him) and after the caliphates of Abu Bakr and Umar
(Allah be pleased with them) - so Uthman ibn Hunayf, who was one
of the Companions who collected hadiths and was learned in the
religion of Allah, said: "Go to the place of ablution and perform
ablution (wudu), then come to the mosque, perform two rakahs of
prayer therein, and say: 'O Allah, I ask You and turn to You through
our Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of mercy; O Muhammad (Ya
Muhammad), I turn through you to my Lord, that He may fulfil my
need,' and mention your need. Then come so that I can go with you
[to the caliph Uthman]."

So the man left and did as he had been told, then went to the door of
Uthman ibn Affan (Allah be pleased with him), and the doorman
came, took him by the hand, brought him to Uthman ibn Affan, and
seated him next to him on a cushion. 'Uthman asked, "What do you
need?" and the man mentioned what he wanted, and Uthman
accomplished it for him, then he said, "I hadn't remembered your
need until just now," adding, "Whenever you need something, just
mention it."

Then, the man departed, met Uthman ibn Hunayf, and said to him,
"May Allah reward you! He didn't see to my need or pay any
attention to me until you spoke with him." Uthman ibn Hunayf
replied, "By Allah, I didn't speak to him, but I have seen a blind man
come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) complain to
him of the loss of his eyesight. The Prophet (peace be upon him)
said, "Can you not bear it?' and the man replied, 'O Messenger of
Allah, I do not have anyone to lead me around, and it is a great
hardship for me.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) told him, 'Go to
the place of ablution and perform ablution (wudu), then pray two
rakahs of prayer and make the supplications.'" Ibn Hunayf went on,
"By Allah, we didn't part company or speak long before the man
returned to us as if nothing had ever been wrong with him."
[Tabarani - al-Mu'jam al saghir [6]]

GLAD TIDINGS
The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) has stated, "Whosoever
sees me in his dream then he will soon see me while awake."
[Bukhari Sharif; Abu Dawood]

Commentating on this Hadith, Sheikh Abdul Haqq Muhadith Dehlvi
(Allah be pleased with him) says: "This is glad tidings for those who
see the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in their dreams that after
arriving from the darkness of the Nafs and the completion of the
desires of the body they have reached this stage that in reality,
without any veil in the condition of awakeness they will have this
opportunity of seeing him just like the Awliya Allah who see him
while awake. In this text, this Hadith confirms that it is possible and
proper to see the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) while awake."
(Ash Atul Lam'aat)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said And whoever sees me, then
the Garden is his, and all his sins - past and future - are forgiven.
[Shaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jaylani - al-Ghunya]

How wonderful and amazing that the Holy Prophet (peace be upon
him) is still accessible to us sinners and anyone of us [according to
our love for him] can meet the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) in
our dreams or even in a wakeful state. Not only that but, the pious
elders of Islam have even shown us the way in which we can ask to
see the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). What more can one ask
for, given that we now understand something of the true nature of
the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him).

Shaikh Hasan al-Adawi in his commentary on the Dalail al Khayrat
recorded that Shaikh al-Mursi said: Whoever recites this salawat
500 times every day and night - and is constant in that - then he will
not die until he meets with the Prophet (peace be upon him) in a
state of wakefulness (yaqadha). That salawat is: Allahumma Salli
ala Sayyidina Muhammadin Abdika wa Nabiyyika wa Rasulika an-
Nabiyy al-Ummiyy wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa Sallim.

45
Shaikh al-Adawi also recorded that Imam al-Yafii stated in his book
Bustan al Fuqara that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon
him) stated that, Whoever prays this salawat upon me on Friday
1000 times, Allahumma Salli ala Sayyidina Muhammadin in-Nabiyy
il-Ummiyy wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa Sallim then he will see either
his Lord or his Prophet or his dwelling place in heaven during his
sleep, and if he does not, then let him repeat that for two Fridays or
three or five. Shaikh Abdullah al-Khayyat ibn Muhammad al-Fasi
wrote in his book that he tried this practice but did not see anything,
so then he said he sent salawat purely out of love for the Prophet
(peace be upon him), and he saw a dream of glad tidings that he
saw himself in the Garden.

Sayyid Ahmad Dahlan, the Shafii Mufti of Makkah, wrote in his
collection of salawat the following: and among the forms of salawat
that is tried and tested for meeting the Prophet (peace be upon him)
is the following: Allahumma Salli wa Sallim ala Sayyidina
Muhammadin al Jaamii li Asraarika wad-Daalli alayk, wa ala Aalihi
wa Sahbihi wa Sallimevery day 1000 times each.

Prophet in the Grave
Sayyid Ahmad Dahlan also mentioned in that same book the
following: Among the greatest and most beneficial forms that the
gnostics mentioned was beneficial for recitation - even if only one
time - on the night preceding Friday, and that whoever was constant
in that, then the form of the Prophet (peace be upon him) would
appear before his spirit when he dies and when he enters the grave,
until he sees that the Prophet (peace be upon him) himself is the one
who is placing him in the grave; and the gnostics say that whoever
takes up this salawat should read it every day 10 times, and on the
night before Friday 100 times, so that he can attain this great favour
and immense blessing inshaallah. And that specific form is:
Allahumma Salli ala Sayyidina Muhammadin an Nabiyy al Ummiyy
al Habeeb, al Aali-l Qadr al Adheem al-Jaah, wa ala Aalihi wa
Sahbihi wa Sallim. This was also related by Shaikh Ahmad as-Sawi
and Imam Suyuti.

The Qutb al-Shaikh Abdul Qadir al-Jaylani wrote in his Book al-
Ghunya that Abu Hurairah (Allah be pleased with him) reported that
the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: whoever, on the night
46
preceding Friday, prays two rakahs, and in each rakah recites (after
the Fatiha) Ayat al Kursi once and surah al Ikhlas 15 times, and then
after that salat, sits and says 1000 times, Allahumma Salli ala
Sayyidina Muhammadin an Nabiyy al Ummiyy then he will see me
in his sleep, and the next Friday will not come without him seeing
me. And whoever sees me, then the Garden is his, and all his sins -
past and future - are forgiven.

One of the Shuyukh of Sidi Ahmad Zarruq said: After making the
final salaam for salat al Juma, say Subhan Allah wa Bi Hamdihi
100 times, and then after Asr prayer, say 1000 times Allahumma
Salli ala Sayyidina Muhammadin an-Nabiyy al-Ummiyy, and he
tried this in the Prophets (peace be upon him) mosque in Madina,
and found it worked.

Treasure House
Shaikh Muhammad Haqqi Afandi an-Nazili wrote in his book The
Treasure House of Secrets the following: in the year 1262 I asked
my Shaikh about some special Adhkar that would unveil to me
Divine knowledges and bring me closer to Allah and connect me to
the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he told me to
recite Ayat al Kursi and the following salawat: Allahumma Salli ala
Sayyidina Muhammadin wa ala Aali Sayyidina Muhammadin fi kulli
lamhatin wa nafasin bi adadi kulli malumin laka, and he said, if
you are assiduous in this, you will take the knowledges and secrets
from the Prophet (peace be upon him) until you come to be under his
direct spiritual training (tarbiya). And he said, and this is tried and
tested, and so-and-so found it to be true and he listed a number of
names of people. So on the first night I tried it, I recited this salawat
100 times, and I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him) in my sleep,
and he told me, (my) intercession is for you and your parents and
your brothers, and then I found in my own experience what the
Shaikh told me to be true. And then I told many of the Ikhwan about
this practice, and I found that whoever stayed constant with it,
received many extraordinary secrets unlike others, and in it are
many secrets indeed, and this indication should suffice for you.

Imam Qastalaani said: whoever recites surah al Fil on any certain
night 1000 times, and then sends salawat 1000 times, then he will
see the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his sleep inshaallah. Also,
47
whoever writes surah al Fil and hangs it on ones person, then it
serves as a great shield from ones enemies, and Allah grants victory
by it to him over them.

Frequent Recitation of the following Salawat (from Shaikh Abdul
Qadir Jaylani): Allahumma Salli Salaatan Kamilatan wa Sallim
salaaman taamman ala sayyidina wa maulana Muhammadin illadhi
tanhallu bihi-l uqadu wa tanfariju bihi-l kurabu wa tuqdaa bihil
hawaiju wa tunaalu bihi-r raghaaibu wa husna-l khawateem, wa
yustasqa-l ghamaamu bi wajhihi-l kareem, wa ala aalihi wa sahbihi fi
kulli lamhatin wa nafasin bi adadi kulli malumin laka (O Allah, send
the perfect salawat and the complete salaam upon our master and
patron Muhammad, by whom the knots are untied, and the afflictions
are removed, and the needs are satisfied, and the desired goals are
gained as are the best ends, and by whose noble countenance the
clouds are watered; and also upon his family and companions, in
every moment and breath, according to the number of things in Your
Knowledge).

Imam Qastalaani said, I saw written in some books that whoever
recites surah al Muzzammil and al Kauthar regularly will get to see
him (peace be upon him).
Imam al-Yafii said: whoever desires to see him (peace be upon
him), then let him make ghusl and wudu in the beginning of the night
before the first Friday of the month, and wear clean white clothes,
and pray the Isha prayer, then pray 12 rakahs (62), in each rakah
reciting surah al Muzzammil after the Fatiha. When he is done with
this, let him send salawat upon the Prophet (peace be upon him)
1,000 times, and recite istighfar 1,000 times, and let him sleep in a
state of puritythen he will see the Prophet (peace be upon him) in
his sleep inshaallah. [8]
