Monitoring tasks:
Tasks of technical supervision:
Monitoring of technical condition of underwater spans of trunk pipelines (planned
inspections of underwater spans of trunk pipelines)

Technical supervision of repair operations at the crossings

Engineering surveys for crossings under construction

Geomorphological and geotechnical investigations in rivers
(for the evaluation of the impact of fluvial processes on underwater spans of trunk
pipelines).
Determination of the conditions of occurrence of inverted siphons in the bottom soils,
identification of problematic areas, first of all, denudation and sagging of siphons, control of
condition of pipe insulation (identification of leakage of cathodic protection current), efficiency of
cathodic protection of siphons, monitoring of bottom relief and fluvial processes, identification of
objects on the bottom, which are unfavourable or hazardous for pipelines (steep slopes,
escarpments and wrecks), forecasting of changes in the condition of the underwater crossing for
the period of one year and for a longer period.
Control of quality of executed underwater technical operations in accordance with the
requirements of the approved project;
acceptance of intermediate hidden works, the control of which becomes impossible during the
execution of subsequent operations.

Method of metal magnetic memory
The latest method of non-destructive testing,

developed by Limited Liability Company
Energodiagnostika for the inspection of onshore
sections of pipelines, is being tested By Closed Joint
Stock Co. DPT with the purpose of subsequent
introduction in the practice of regular inspection of
underwater pipelines.

The method of metal magnetic
memory (MMMM) is based on the
recording and analysis of the
distribution of intrinsic magnetic stray
fields, occurring in products and
equipment in the zones of
concentration of stresses and metal
defects.
Advantages of MMMM

The utilisation of MMMM does not require any special
magnetisers, because the phenomenon of
magnetisation of the equipment units and constructions
during their operation is used;
the locations of concentration of loads, unknown
earlier, are identified during their control;
there is no need to clean metal or prepare the
controlled surface in any other way;
the utilised equipment is small-sized and has self-
contained power;
the velocity of the control in situ reaches 100 m/hr and
more.

Tasks solved

The purpose of engineering-geophysical surveys is
to investigate the top part of the section and to
obtain geotechnical information, which must be
taken into consideration do design buildings and
structures correctly and safely.

Joint interpretation of the data of engineering
seismic and electrical tomography allows to obtain
most complete evaluation of the condition of the soil
massif as foundation for the structure under design.
