Stage 2 Term 3 2014: Project Based Learning Experience

Big Question: Wiley Park is not meeting the needs of the local community. How can we change Wiley Park to meet
community needs?
Learning Intention: We are learning to collaboratively design and present a redevelopment proposal for Wiley Park.
Success Criteria:
Form a collaborative design team of 2-4.
Work cooperatively in your teams eg. Decide on a plan and assign roles.
Create a survey for and collect data from the local community.
Design a redevelopment proposal for a new built environment at Wiley Park.
Your redevelopment proposal must include:
1. Informative letter/email advertising your redevelopment proposal to the local community.
2. Persuasive letter/email to the council about your redevelopment proposal.
3. A graph showing the results of your survey.
4. A map of the current Wiley Park design.
5. A 3D model (your team may decide to make a model or use technology to represent your plan) of your redevelopment proposal.
6. A map of your Wiley Park design.
7. An artists impression of your design.
Your project needs to show you have thought about sustainability (taking care of our environment) and the needs of all community members eg.
families, sporting groups, young people, the elderly, religious groups, people with a disability etc.
Choose an engaging and creative way to present your project to the class.

CRITERIA SELF ASSESSMENT TEACHER/ PEER FEEDBACK GOALS FOR FURTHER
DEVELOPMENT
I worked well within my
group and disagreements
were solved independently.

I contributed my ideas
confidently.

Each group member placed
the same amount of effort
in the project and everyone
had a role.

I found the task to be an
engaging and motivating way
to learn.

My group considered the
learning intention and
success criteria before
designing the redevelopment
proposal.

My groups final project
catered for the needs of
ALL community members and
considered the importance of
sustainability.

This task allowed me to show
how I can be a creative
thinker.
