CHAPTER 3 PAST EXPERIENCE
Internship at a detention center
Fight broke out
Usually per protocol 2 or more staff required with restraints
At times video tape
One very disrespectful youth
Staff were slow to respond
A fight with two youth on the one disrespectful youth
My response
Broke up the fight
Pondered on the situation

Spoke with unit manager

Per protocol, call for backup first when necessary
Avoid staff injury
Avoid any conflict with improper restraint

Integrative Processing Model
Youth was having issues

Talked to youth listened to his concerns (anxiety about going home/gf issues)
