ALPHA KAPPA
ALPHA SORORITY/
DR. MARY H. WRIGHT

Today, as a culmination of the Women’s Conference, Women’s Week and our

celebration of women, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha are honoring my mother, Dr.
Mary H. Wright.
The women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority have gathered today to worship with us
at the first service and to pay tribute to one of the greatest women of God it has ever been
my pleasure to meet (my Mom! smile).
When I invited my mother to come from Philadelphia to Chicago to celebrate with
her sorors on this day she said she would try her best, depending on the amount of pain she
was in and depending on her ability to travel. Her absence here today lets you know that
she was not physically able to make the trip.
She called to express her thanksgiving to the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha and to
express her sorrow for not being able to be here in person. She asked me to thank her
sisters for her.
I want to thank the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha for honoring my mother. I want
to thank them for honoring me by honoring her and I want to thank them for upholding the
high standards of their sorority as they continue to serve God and God’s people.

Gratefully yours,

Pastor Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr.
