HSDPA
HSDPA stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access. As the name
suggests, this is a piece of UMTS functionality designed to deliver
downlink packet data at very high data rates. It is a release 5 feature. It
achieves its aim by using the following techniques:
Use of shared channel concept
Rather than constantly allocating and deallocating dedicated channels to
individual users, users share a high bandwidth channel the HS-DSCH
(High Speed Downlink Shared Channel). This allows the system to operate
with a fat pipe

LG
Flexi BTS Licensing principles
Pool license concept
Operator orders in advance a big
amount (e.g. need for 1 month rollout)
of unallocated licenses
NetAct operator distributes licenses
during NE integration via NSN License
Generator (LG)
Simplified logistics, reduces site visits
for capacity expansion
No floating licenses
BTS licenses tied with the physical
System Module HW, NOT with the site.
When you move the box you also
move the licenses with it.
Long term licenses
Exception: also short term licences for
channel capacity
SW Feature licenses also possible

WCDMA Radio Resource Management:
Management of traffic channels and control channels can be divided into:
Resource manager
Admission control
Load control
Power control
Handover control
Packet scheduler
Telecom functions:
Security functions: integrity checking, ciphering
User plane processing towards CS and PS core network (for example management of
radio access bearers (RAB))
Radio network layer control plane processing
Service area broadcast
Location services: LCS Cell Coverage Based (RTT) with Geographical Coordinates
In the Cell Coverage Based locationing method, the location of the UE is estimated on
the basis of its serving cell. Information about the serving cell is obtained, for example, by
paging, location area update, cell update, URA update or routing area update.

RNC Variants in RAS06
RNC196
RNC450
With RAS05.1 we get a new RNC product variant RNC450
At the same time also RNC196 can be upgraded to higher capacity.
RNC450 comes with RAS05.1 but RNC196 can be used with RAS05 and RAS05.1
RAS06 does not bring any new RNC types
