Spiral Mould Trial
All compounds used the same formulation and then evaluated
in a spiral mould (Injection Moulding)
Allowed for the evaluation of :
Stall position test (From Rest) i.e. point where the ram stops
when injecting material for 30 seconds at a predetermined
injection pressure, the amount of injected material is then
measured
Injection rate test - Speed of injection (cc/sec) - based on
injection volumes of 35 cc shot
Both were evaluated at various pressures (psi)

Zetpol 2010EP Zetpol 2010L HNBR AT 3443
The spiral mould trial demonstrates the superior flow properties of Zetpol

2010EP
Zetpol

EP compounds inject a larger volume of material within a shorter injection time

Zetpol

2010EP flows twice as far in the stall position test as the competitive HNBR
Ease of flow will reduce the possibility of short fills and therefore reduce scrap
Zetpol

EP Injection rates were approximately twice that of competitive HNBR

Reduction in injection times / cycle times are possible
Lower injection pressures can be used to fill mould cavities, reducing energy
consumption
Compared to HNBR AT, Zetpol

2010EP did not show signs of scorch during these

evaluations
In some evaluations lower mould fouling has been observed

Conclusions
Zetpol

EP Grades show an improvement in flow properties, due to a

significant reduction in Mooney Viscosity of the base polymer
Injection times are shorter and injection volumes can be higher with new
Zetpol

EP grades - Reducing overall cycle times

Due to lower heat shear in Injection Moulding, it may be possible to increase
mould temperatures to reduce cure & cycle times without scorch issues
At typical injection moulding temperatures (180C - 200C) Zetpol

EP does
not increase in viscosity when compared to alternative low viscosity
polymers - Providing processors with IMPROVED PROCESSING SAFETY
Mechanical properties are comparable to standard Zetpol

Compression set properties are comparable to standard Zetpol

Conclusions
No loss of performance in Heat or Fluid Ageing Zetpol

EP is comparable
to conventional Zetpol

HNBR Polymers
In some cases additional peroxide may be necessary to maintain
similar compression set values- up to 1Phr recipe dependant
Mould fouling can be reduced, possibly due to lower shear forces during
injection moulding
Faster extrusion rates when compared to standard Zetpol

can be achieved
Zetpol

EP can easily be solvated and spread for various building /

construction processes
Lower injection pressures and lower power consumption when using Easy
Processing Zetpol

means lower energy consumption

Availability
Samples for Laboratory and Production trials
available now
Easy Processing versions of conventional
Zetpol

can be manufactured dependant on
