during all labs to help protect
your clothing from chemical
spills or splashes.

worn on lab day.

Material Safety Data Sheet


A material safety data sheet (MSDS) is a form
containing data regarding the properties of a particular
substance
YOU SHOULD ALSO BE FAMILIAR WITH THE
NFPA DIAMOND DIAGRAM (NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION)

Lab Safety Rules
1. Know the locations of first aid kit,
eyewash, and fire extinguisher.
2. Wear eye protection whenever glassware
or solutions are heated or fumes may be
present. Use goggles and other PPE as
indicated by the instructor.
3. Assume all chemicals are dangerous.
Clean spills and surfaces immediately.
Dispose of chemicals properly.

4. Avoid inhaling chemical fumes.
5. No eating, or drinking in the lab.
6. Never touch any lab equipment with your
mouth.
7. Avoid wearing loose clothing and jewelry.
Long hair should be tied back. Do not
wear sandals or open-toe shoes.
8. Absolutely NO HORSEPLAY. Report
any incidents to your instructor.

In Case of Accident

In case of emergency
in which a chemical
goes into ones eye,
use the eyewash
station
Flush in water for 15
mins. and notify the
teacher

If a chemical spills on your skin, notify the
teacher and rinse with water for 10-15 minutes
